Beautiful day in the village Monday

It's a beautiful day here in VA. We're with our beautiful family and there should be cooler temps today. Yesterday at 2 pm the temp was 104*. We had thunderstorms yesterday and rain overnight.

It is so nice to post here again. Our flight was good and was nice to finally see our family again. It was too hot for outside activities or for sightseeing etc. over the weekend, but we have gone shopping a couple of times. Dson mentioned a Marine museum nearby for later this week.

I've been awake since 5:15 am. Said good morning to dson and he was getting ready to leave for work at 6 am. Dh woke up shortly after that and dgd14 just came downstairs. Everyone else is still asleep. Don't know what we're doing today yet. My tummy just growled, it's time I get some breakfast, then I'll make our bed, empty dwasher and wipe counters and run a dust mop on downstairs floors.

Got the dishes into the dishwasher, and all but 1 item of the hand-wash things done. ! skillet is soaking for a bit. Wiped the counters down, and the top of the stove. Hint to all SHEs: NEVER get a stove with a black top. EVERY SALT CRYSTAL that misses the pan shows up in sharp contrast to the black top. Black is harder to keep looking nice than white, it shows streaks and smudges more. I HATE it.

Kathryn, I would rather pack myself, as I'm throwing away and purging as I go. As suggested by Cowinkie and others, I'm numbering boxes and recording contents as I go also.

I'd suggest we skip the week with dcleaning lady, but she counts on the income.

It was 105* here yesterday did not do much outside. Got a knitting project done it's not awesome but not awful either just okay a bit too big so I will be working on that pattern to tweak it. Kitchen needs attn. 90% of the dishes are loaded. BS was great this morning!

I had three boiled eggs to devil for dinner last night told h. that was the plan, gr-r when I went to fix 'em there were only 2 left I told him they were for dinner too. So he did not get as much for dinner with the salad I fixed found the last corn on the cob ear so fixed that we shared it as was the plan. I guess I need a plan for tonight as well. Not much in to meal plans and prep. with it so hot out salads seem to help.

Well I need to get on with my day. I'm glad to see those of you here posting and ok from p/c worries! Look out dailies here I come.

Twins: I understand how having your cleaning lady becomes a distraction today but count it as a mitzvah!

My morning is progressing. Ds is here watching a movie with dh now. He's back to working almost full time (actually with 6 shifts last week, I guess that's over full-time) but that means he has no time to socialize with others since he's working overnights or evening shifts. We are lucky our schedule is so flexible so he can 'play' with us.

I got the things I had sent home in his car and they are now put away or in the dishwasher. The vanilla bottle leaked and despite being in a plastic bag, vanilla got all over other stuff. As well, the grocery bags I had wrapped things in melted in the heat of the trunk so it was a mess.

In prep for Sunday, I've finally heard from my contact at the church and we are now finalizing music. They have a praise song they'd like sung and if it is the same one I found on the internet, I can weave some of the lyrics into this week's sermon so this is a great opportunity. Plus I can learn the song via YouTube so will be able to sing along without the music (they project their lyrics onto the screen.)

This seems like a pretty well technologically advanced church so I'm forming an idea for next week's sermon to add visuals.

Quilting/crafting SHEs Do any of you have some photos of quilts or other textile projects, both finished and being made that I could use as a visual? The sermon is talking about remnants being woven into a full quilt that provides warmth and comfort.

I know that I am better off walking than not walking, regardless of what the scales say... but it IS discouraging. However, Aunt Flo arrives tomorrow, so that might account for some of the weight this past week.

OK. I guess everything is A-OK! Heat has broken here too. Highs are supposed to be around 86.

I am in Ocean City, NJ in a house 2 blocks from the beach w/ 3 girlfriends and their kids. There are 6 kids here between my 3 friends, ages: 2, 2.5, 4.5, 4.5, 5, and 8. And the sister and family of one of my dfriends is staying in the unit above us with her 4 kids, ages 6, 8, 12, and 14. SO, as you can imagine, things are busy and sometimes chaotic here. The 2 4.5yos and the 5yo are all boys so they alternate btwn. playing together and fighting together. No dhs here, except for dfriend's sister's dh. Friends and I all know each other from the church moms group, even though one moved to NY and another to Chicago a year ago. The friend who moved to NY was a special friend of mine; she was also in one of our small groups and the book club as well. . . Her dh is the one who tutored me and eventually shepherded me toward the Hebrew classes at UM. He is now an OT professor. Anyhow, special ladies. The conversations at night - and during the day when we can snatch a minute - have been great. We are able to share deeply and sincerely with each other w/out pretensions of being more or other than who we are. This is about re-establishing and maintaining friendships.

Everyone is at the beach now. I decided to stay behind to get some quiet time; I've learned over time that when I'm with large groups of people, I need to take care of my introverted side, otherwise I end up cranky and not doing well and it is not very pretty. In a minute, I'm going to head to the groc. store for sundry items. I don't mind doing this as it is time alone. Then, I will go for a jog at some point. I am taking my turn to make dinner tonight.

Dfriend from NY is here too; she has a conference call for her job in about 10 minutes.

Nancy, I hate it when Sweetie gets a hold of something and eats it for lunch when I've planned it for dinner. Or when I was working, I'd go to grab something to make my lunch for that day and he's already had it for his the day before

Lucylee, I'm with you on the exercising outdoors verses none at all. Today I'm going to put my dvd in and do my workout at home. We are on a heat alert or whatever they call it. Temps will be 115 before the day is over and I have a one o'clock hair appointment. Also need to make a WM run. I was unable to do it yesterday because of my headache. (which reminds me I need to call my dr. and set up an appointment for myself) Thankfully the two store are very close to each other.

My poor computer has been making a very whiny noise. Sweetie said it was the fans in my tower. He took it apart and vacuumed out the inside plus the fans. Now its quiet again. I have my sheets in the washer just like KIC. I change my sheets on Mondays as well. As soon as they are finished I will toss them in the dryer. Would like to find another set of white cotton sheets. I like the way the sheets feel on the bed after they've been laundered. Dinner is laid out, so that is taken care of. I am suppose to meet one of my former students at the library tomorrow to help her write a resume. She is also bring a friend so I can help him as well. She told me all the places she's put in work applications are asking for one and she is just going into the 11th grade. I'll have be creative finding skills she can impress people with. I have some ideas that I think will work.

Ok...off to flip the laundry, vacuum the living area and then lift a few light weights.. cya'll later...
