Dee: I'm sorry but I read your post twice and can't figure out why you had to go to town at 3:45.

I'm trying to figure that out, too.

Well... rain is the theme for the day here.
I've already s2s, got my allergy shot, been to the post office, paid two bills, and been back to the drug store (for my rx which I forgot to get refilled yesterday.)

Tomorrow I have to get up early (for me -- not for Dee, LOL!!!) for dental check-up. I just dread that sooo much this year. I guess b/c LAST year, he found a teeny tiny cavity on a wisdom tooth, which took FOREVER to fill, and was sooo sooo sooo nerve-wracking. I just hope I don't have a repeat performance this year. Plus, I'm thinking, why on earth did I want an early morning appt??? * sheesh *
(It's at 10:00 a.m., but the way our days & nights go lately, I'd rather have made it after noon!)

Same deal next week, I have to get my allergy shot Thursday & then get to the ob-gyn @ 11:00.

I really should make appt for mammogram too, while I'm at it, but I don't know if I will or not.

Don't feel bad, Kathryn! I've read Dee's post, and i can't figure out why she needed to go to town at 3:45am, either! And by the sounds of the "waited around for 25 minutes", their DS-R didn't even show up!

The theme for the day here (and for a few other villagers, I suspect) is an old British WWII slogan - "Keep Calm and Carry On".

Yesterday was a run round and do errands kind of day - everything from groceries to feeding DD's pets (she's gone with the kids to stay at her mil's to get things ready for Saturday), to picking up my bridesmaids dress to a last minute eye exam/ordering new glasses. Over the past couple of weeks, my glasses have become harder to see through, until I'm about ready to throw them at the wall! My prescription has changed a bit, but the real problem is that for some reason, the anti-reflective coating on them is 'crazing', and it's impossible to see properly! I'm muddling through with them and an older pair of glasses as best as I can until late next week when the new ones should be here.

The weather here is still ridiculous...hot, sunny, and rather humid (for us) all day, with a crashboomer thunderstorm about 4am. Fortunately, we didn't get hit too bad in this end of the city, but the south side had large areas of roads flooding, hail, and all sorts of fun things! There are a few pictures in this article.

The main priorities here today are few....finish getting the laundry caught up - one more load to wash, and several to fold and/or put away, sewing, tidying in the dining room, clean the bathroom, critter care - of course! - and getting to dMum's by shortly after 4pm to go pick up my sister from the airport. She's flying in from Kathryn's end of the country for DD's wedding

Sermon might be finished. Dusted the main floor while on the phone with my music friend. Have made myself a lunch which is in the oven cooking. Planned dinner (leftovers.) Sent email to the minister saying we can't take her to choir. If you imagine a rectangle, we live at the lower left corner, she at the upper left and the practice is at upper right. So it makes sense to go get her except during rush hour it will be faster for us to go across the rural south of the city through the lower right corner of the rectangle and up to the practice, avoiding all city traffic.

So there's progress. I still stink. Dh pointed out that we'll be walking at 3 so if I rush, I can get s2s before I get sweaty on our walk!

re: Dee's post I'm thinking visiting hrs. begin at 4:00 so they can get the baby fix.

I've putzed here a bit cooked up sausage for later on this weekend to have ready h. likes to put it in w/ his eggs. Boiled up some eggs too to devil when they cool off. Moving sprinklers as needed got out the other sprinklers. Vacummed traffic area of the living room and it's looking a lot better.

Found G-2 gator type only lower in sugar they had power aid zero lower /no calorie beverages for h. to re-hydrate with.

Nope, I remember that Dee's dh and DS-R with dgson(s) was heading to Ohio for a racing thingie and they needed to get an earlier start.

I am back from lunch meeting and have answered several emails. Need to send one as follow up to the meeting but I'm going to give myself a little rest first. Dneighbor called and she will come over tonight to help us pack also. Ds is home from work and is also taking a little downtime first.

I am blissfully uninterested in Dee's 3:45 trip. My ds never asks me to go anywhere, so she's well ahead of me no matter what it's about!

I tried to open this a.m. Then I tried to answer Twin's Mom's eventual open. Neither happened. I seem to have stopped having minutes before interruptions and started having seconds.

Children needing attention - This is one reason dd13's friend's mom said please let her spend night with them last evening. She says littlest angel is taking up so much of her time for health reasons right now that she just can't be available as much as the other two want her to, and at least with dd there, her daughter (and sometimes her son) have an interesting playmate to keep them occupied.

skippable My ddad has started washing his hair 3 and 4 (5?) times a day, getting water covering the vanity top, the formica of which is the kind that has a covered seam at the back edge at the wall, with another piece of formica up the wall. It's always been fine, looked neat. But now the wall behind the front bathroom sink has evidently had water pouring down it from that seam for some time without our knowledge, and it and the floor of the cabinet is saturated. I've shown him this and gone over it but I don't know if he remembers minutes later. This is also terrible for his scalp, since the skin is fragile. It seems to be a compulsion (??? or what???) I've become bathroom monitor and he is angry and frustrated with me, having no idea why I'm bothering him, since it's his house and he's completely in charge of it. (!!!) The reason I have time to post right now is that he is having another hour's session at the bathroom sink and keeping me out. I hear the water running. I don't know what I'll find, don't know what I'm going to do.

Indiana is on my mind.

Harriet...can you turn the water off in that bathroom so the faucets don't work and then distract him into doing something else?? Twins, it seems I always moved in the rain..exception was here in AZ. Put a moving truck in front of my house and I could become a great rain maker

I was up and out early this morning. My gym class began at 8:30. I haven't been to this class in a while and forgot how much I enjoyed it. By the time the hour was over, I was dripping in sweat. Then I walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill. Last night we had a huge thunder and lightning storm. Hit about 11:30 and woke me up. Willis and I spent a half an hour siting on the porch watching the lightning.

I came home yesterday from the drs with a prescription of Imitrix for my headaches. Haven't used that in over 20. Didn't help much the last time, so I'll be interested to see how it does now. Also had some blood drawn to see what else might be going on in my system. Dr. did a chest x-ray while I was there and I do NOT have Valley Fever. One thing I can check off the list. Have laundry going and need to do some flipping, then I think I'll take it easy and read.

Nancy...the weather is hot and very humid here at the moment. 108 with 72% humidity. I feel sorry for the guys around my house. We're suppose to be getting rain for the next couple of days. Not that I would complain about that, but I know it's hard to work in this type of heat. My brother does contracting work as well. He lives in NJ and when the heat hit there, for the first time in his life he told his employers he would not work in the afternoons. I've never heard him complain about that before. When he was younger, he lived in Tuscon. He owned his own roofing company and did a lot of commercial work. That meant hot tar on a roof sometimes in 110 weather. I think about that all the time here and wondered how he ever did it. No wonder he was so skinny at the time.

Ok, I can hear the beepers calling to me. BTW I think it great that y'all are spending so much time with your g-kids. There is so much benefit in that. Most of the kids with behavior issues in my class craved attention. It was amazing to see how much just a little one-on-one of my time helped them.

Oh, I am so sorry! told you all I was brain dead! Had to meet DS-R and DGS7 in town several miles from here at 3:45 a.m. I should have explained better but as I said my brain is in a fog. DH, DS-R, DGS7 and 2 other guys left for South Bend, IN this morning for the World Karting Assoc. races. They wanted to get there at a decent time to set up all their rigs, etc. They left around 4:10am from where we met them. DS-R and DDIL stayed at their house last night and the other 2 guys met them there. They could pick up the expressway from where we met to the NYS thruway and took route 90 all the way.

DD & I just got back from the hospital. DDIL was exhausted and we took over baby care for a while and she snoozed. Dr. finally talked her in to taking full dose of pain killers this morning. Told her with all the scar tissue from 4 previous sections this one would be more difficult. She did say she was in better shape after letting them do that. She snoozed and then took a couple of laps. We left her feeding dbaby and came home. DD is so enjoying this baby. Her first with all the nieces and nephews.

I'm going to try snoozing myself for a bit. DH called shortly after 1:00 to let me know they were at the track. Glad to know they're there safe and sound.

Well, speak of the son and lo, he calls. Ds27 and family want to come over one night this weekend for supper. I think we are ALL quite ready for a long visit. Ds is so outrageously busy all the time, working full time and having a small business on the side. I got to talk to him about our exercise and (my) weight loss, which we haven't been able to do in a while. I don't know why, but he has always been my biggest supporter on those fronts. Kind of odd for the son to be the one you confide in about weight and workouts, but it's always been that way for me. He grew up with video workouts playing in the house, and now wouldn't be without them himself - although his are all a bit on the testosterone side. He has good advice, because he sees so much training plus he knows so much about injury, too.

I talked to him a little about his grandfather, but he has no idea what to tell me. He is as bewildered as we are.

Cowinkie, I wish somehow I could, but the only way I know would be inside the bathroom. Also, I certainly do want him to be able to brush his teeth, use the toilet, wash his hands, etc... ...

This morning I helped neighbors push a truck not running in to the driveway it was level, asked if they would check on the free ex. bike new style up the street & they said they would and get it if it was still there. So keeping my fingers crossed about that.

I've been watering off and on most of the day. Pausing on it until the p.m. shade is where I need it to be. I'm glad h. gave me a heads up and I got the deviled eggs made just in time for our lunch. H. came home at noon too hot to work they sent him home. [One guy dropped dead from a heart attack a while back.] It's 101* outside now. 102* or 3 was the predicted hi. for today. I just finished some water after having iced tea. I went to the cave' basement and had to come back upstairs it was too cold so told h. to go rest on the couch there it was cooler and darker sales pitch on that was successful he took his pillow w/ him I said to toss a blanket on the couch so he would not stick to the vinyl couch.

Had a freshly picked tomato, onion from the garden and some cauliflower for a snack.
