Oh my... we are d r a g g i n g this morning... and have a LONG day ahead. Good day, but long day.
Right off hand, I can't think of any real "random act of kindness" that I have given, or received, lately... but I'll try to find an opportunity to change my part of that ASAP.

Excitement around here last night!
Dson called last night to tell us that dgson had rolled over -- from tummy to back. LOL. We were in town when he called, so we went over to their house to see if he would do it again for us, and he seemed happy to oblige.
Babies are so exciting.

Many errands to run today, then 2 hour drive w/ds... music... 2 hours back... late night, and then -- basically -- a repeat tomorrow!

And I apparently have given up exercise altogether, using the heat as an excuse.

Ds helped lure ddogs out and in again through the doggie door.

I also called about setting up an appt for dmom with her arthritis/rhumatologist specialist and she can't get in until Sept - so the nurse is to call me back....

Banana bread tastes good but broke up coming out of the pan. Shredding service told me I can save some $$ by taking it to a local UPS store for 59 cents per pound, and that they go there and shred onsite.

Had to run a few errands this morning & am glad to be home. Enjoying some tea & SHE before getting to some tasks that need doing around the house. Looking forward to watching the opening ceremonies in London tonight. It is always fun to see the show that host countries put on.

***FYI*** -- I saw a news blurb last night to be very careful about viewing the Olympics online as there are apparently many sites that will hack your computer. Be extra careful clicking on links.

My RAK -- dh brought me flowers, & I sent a card to a friend who is having a hard time.

Dh & I got snookered by some clever advertising. He tried a sample of dark chocolate covered blueberries at Sam's the other day & bought a bag because they were so good. I ate some, too, & after a few bites felt as though the blueberries were really chewy. I wondered if they might be dried so bit into one to examine it more closely & it wasn't a blueberry at all -- it was a gummy candy ! I looked more closely at the bag. Big, beautiful picture on the front of blueberries. Printing that said blueberries & dark chocolate. The ingredient list showed that the "blueberries" were actually made from several different fruit juice concentrates. There was something like 25g of sugar in a 1/4 cup serving. Sheesh. It was a good reminder to be vigilant about reading labels.

Hi Indi, I hope Jake feels better soon. Your post took me back several years when my ddog had tummy troubles & the vet said to give her the same thing. She quickly decided that she only wanted the meat & not the rice, which she spit out all over the floor around her dish. Funny to watch, but what a mess to clean up.

Hi Elly -- yum -- cukes & zucchini! P&P had some good zucchini recipes in their Phony Gourmet book.(Or was it the Kitchen book?)

Hi OKay -- I'll bet dgs17 felt really good after helping the elderly couple.

Hi Helia -- sorry it was so hot during your camping/hiking trip. The scenery sounds wonderful, though. How cool that you saw a bald eagle.

Hi Nancy -- I need to follow your lead & walk outside in the early morning. Dh & I have been staying up later/getting up later & by then it is too hot. Even an hour makes a real difference when it is humid. I've been ignoring the treadmill lately, too.

Hope you feel better as the day goes on, Kathryn. I saw a tutorial online once about mesh bags made from T shirts. Same idea (sew the bottom closed) but then cuts are made in the body of the shirt. It was being used to hold oranges.

I looked over the calendar, trying to find 3 days in a row to go visit a friend's cottage but just don't see them there. Dh said to move the dental appointments but there are days my teeth ache and on our holiday I was thrilled to be going to the dentist this week. Luckily the pain went away (I couldn't even drink water pain free) because the appointments were shifted until August 22 (at noon - yay!) due to our travel this week. I refuse to move the appointment another month into the future. My teeth haven't been as bad since the end of June but that doesn't mean they won't get bad again.

So then dh wanted to be away for ds's birthday and have me give up volunteering on the last day the Resource person has her job. I refused. His volunteering is why the dental appointment now blocks our going away, why should I have to give up my volunteering to free up time? He doesn't see how shifting things around for his schedule impacts things further on down the line. If he wasn't playing in church on the 19th, we'd be good for 3 days but won't give that up. Therefore, there are no 3 days available and we actually had wanted 4 days there (since three days is really only 1 day there, we have to drive 5.5 hours there and 5.5 hours home. )

Anyway, the calendars are synched again. I note my upcoming hair appointments are at times that make volunteering almost not worth it (I'll be there 90 minutes at most.) I don't think I'll let him make appointments for us any more. Am I paranoid to feel dh is sandbagging my volunteer work? He does this constantly, making it hard for me to fit in my volunteer jobs. For instance he booked the next trip to Boston during my birthday week but justified it by saying I could go to Boston 'for my birthday.' Actually, I can't, I have 3 church commitments that week. Not that I care, but it means I get to spend my birthday on my own. Like Mother's Day. I may not care, but I do keep count.

I know I have to give up all Monday evenings to his Standards teleconference. Why can't he remember that I volunteer every Tuesday from 9:30 to 2:30 or 3:00? Since our hair stylist only works on Tuesdays, I leave at lunch once every 8 weeks but now he has my appointment at 12, so I'll have to leave by 11:30.

A great Google doodle today.

The guy I met with earlier this week will start the painting and work at our old house next Tuesday. I'm glad to finally be getting that underway. I had also mentioned that dh met w someone about garage storage, and that will be installed next week. If he wants to keep all his comic books the storage will go a long way toward cleaning the garage up. I think I'm at the point that too many of the boxes in the garage are mixed - some things I can unpack and other stuff I don't have room for yet, but will eventually, so it's hard just to unpack a box and be done. I did clean the glass on our china cabinet breakfront and unpacked our "wedding" china and arranged. Found one broken saucer - my own fault because it really wasn't wrapped adequately. (I must have been running out of bubble wrap.)

The challah rose way too much in the oven when proofed at 100 degrees. After baking it looks like a bread blob.

I will need to leave around 5:30 for services and need to s2s and shave legs, etc. before going. I'll work another round, tho.

-another in and out session with ddogs and doggie door
-hang the picture over the fireplace
-purge the refrigerator and take trash to garage
-mark several boxes in garage that dh/ds can take upstairs for me
-polish dishwasher front - could see the streaks on it this morning in the sunlight

Just got back from cleaners & Wmart... and no, Wmart does NOT have the adapter that seems to be missing from dgson's car seat, which makes the car seat usable when there is only a shoulder harness seat belt. This is not a major problem, but dh was hoping we could use dinlaws' van tomorrow. We'll be a little more crowded in our SUV, but I think it will be okay. I don't know why dh is all bothered about it -- he's certainly not going to be sitting in the back seat! He is so claustrophobic he can't sit anywhere except the front!

Boy... do I resemble THAT remark... * sigh * I have just GOT to get myself back on track w/the walking. I was doing sooo sooo good in June... and then it all went kaput.

Geez, I used to have one of those adapters in my van, Lucylee. I kept it in the pocket in front of the seat so if I was removing the seat to use in another car, the adapter was there too. I have no idea whether I still have it, but if I did, couldn't lay my hands on it.

I worked a bit on my music and got a choir binder started. I left some supplies at Presbytery that I need but the copies that can go into the page protectors are in. I have some music that will need to be in a music holder and have some leftover magazine holders that fit into binders so one can put a year of magazines in a binder. I'm hoping that will work with the anthem music. Otherwise, I've got more copying to do. Dh simply copied all his music but I'm lazy so decided to wait and see.

We walked to the general store for the mail. My breathing is still bad outside. Not as bad as in Concord but not my normal self.

Dh has gone to get Chinese food for his dinner and I have chicken fingers and sweet potato fries cooking here at home.

I don't need to test the kitchen smoke alarm this month. It proved it is sensitive enough when it announce dinner was done. Unfortunately, I was on a corded phone, underneath the smoke alarm, at the time. And I'm too short to hit the hush button.

Dinner is done. Dh washed up the dishes.

We are supposed to be singing now - each in our own areas to practice for tomorrow's singing.

I got an important email sent.

Aside from that, a quiet afternoon/evening.
