I just realized I didn't post this morning. I got waylaid by puppy photos and video.

I was on the phone this morning with the vet. Jake hadn't eaten or had anything to drink since yesterday morning and wouldn't take his medicine. I was going to take him in so they could keep him for a few days. He heard me on the phone and went to his bowl and ate. He also had some water. I was concerned about the water more than food.

He is doing better.

Long day here.

I'm choosing to not be productive.

Did get a load of laundry into the dryer before leaving for choir (the moment I broke down and used the dryer was the time the sun finally came out!) I started another load and hung that up after I got home. There are two more loads for tomorrow.

Choir went well but not stellar. We are not yet singing pieces from start to finish and that means that I get lost easily. For ages, I've known I can only play a piece on the piano from beginning to end. If I get distracted and 'lost' in the middle, I can't restart from there, but have to return to the beginning. My music friend has said that is because I don't really know the music, but have muscle memory of where my fingers are to be and so must start at the beginning and do the 'routine'. Well, apparently, I sing that way too. I do know the notes, I know I do because at home I can sing a piece through just fine but when stopped in the middle and told to start at bar x, I often take 2 - 6 bars to find the notes for my part. Yet is we start at the beginning, I'm note perfect. I'm not sure there is anything I can do with this piece of information but I now have it.

After choir we picked up lunch for me to eat in the car and a few groceries from places that had good sales and we were passing on the way home.

Ds was to come out to see us this afternoon but couldn't because his car is in the shop. Needs new brakes. Won't get looked at until Monday so he'll be busing or walking places. This isn't a great hardship, it can walk to work in 40 minutes and there's also a bus. Since he has to stay home, he'll spend less money.

But dh decided to drive into ds's to watch the movie instead of him coming out to us so I came in too. I've been looking for special throat lozenges and sure enough I found them when I looked at the right health food store. BTW: they taste foul. Since that errand took all of 20 minutes, I'm killing the rest of my 2 hours by hanging at the library.

So that's my day. I should be home doing housework, but instead I'm in here, at least having found my throat lozenges and I'll get to have dinner with ds too (we'll take him out.)

The rest of the day went smoothly. I picked up ds and dh and we went out for dinner. On the way home, we dropped off the rental movie and picked up 5 more. Dh and ds will be going out to a movie tomorrow afternoon and I'll be home alone so will watch The Help and/or War House. You all have recommended these highly so its about time I saw them.

We watched Moneyball tonight. So 1 out of 5 is done. The movies are due back on Thursday but we have to watch as many as we can early on or else we'll run out of time and return some unwatched.

Just back from seeing "Monumental", which is a movie by Kirk Cameron about the pilgrims and our founding fathers here in the US. It was very good and needs to be seen by all Americans. Going to recommend it to DD, DS and DDIL, too.

We really enjoyed the opening ceremony of Olympics last night. Just watched a link to a part that was cut from broadcast here--a tribute to victims of terrorism that included a beautiful hymn.

No sign of our snake tonight and DH didn't hurt himself with the chainsaw. All is well.

Ellyphant, we worked on our trees here also. Great minds think alike, I guess! DH came in and wanted help with the 3 palms outside. They have gotten quite a bit taller than when we first moved in and pruning them is not as easy as it was.

We had 2 ladders out, the tall extension ladder up into the tallest tree and me at the bottom steadying the ladder and dodging the falling fronds, which are very heavy if one hits you on the head.. and then we had to put the saw and extension cords and ladders away and drag all the fronds over across the yard. It was a lot of heavy hot work.

I'll bet there is some quality from each of you I'd like to have as my own. I see good things in all.

I was very very worn out today. I got up at 8:00 to answer the phone and went back to bed till 10:30. DH went off to a gathering with his family and I had to stay home because I was so exhausted. I kept falling asleep all day long. I would not have tackled those trees today, but I had to help DH so that was the only thing I did all day long except for bringing in 2 loads of laundry.

Hoping I have a bit more energy tomorrow, as it is communion Sunday and there is a flurry of work between and after services. I will do what I can. I'm quite red from the sun yesterday, as we were out too long in the sun. I'm sure that contributed to how awful I felt today.
