We are home from church. A beautiful elm tree in the church parking lot had fallen, and was out across the neighboring pasture - probably 50 to 75 years old, kinda sad. Makes you wonder who planted it, that sort of thing.

Dd14 had to change clothes before going. She's outgrowing everything, and noticing clothes look skimpy. So grateful for that black skirt I had mentioned here. At least since purchasing that she can have it as a quick back-up and change its look each time it's worn. Today she didn't have to be frantic, but changed into it with a white and gray striped top and suddenly she looked put-together enough. Whew. I guess there will be another dress for donation now, unless I can alter and make it into a skirt.

How wonderful for you, Cabby. It will be a joy to have enough time to appreciate the ports.

Twins Mom I know you will speak eloquently tomorrow.

Good job providing for the sick missus, Mr. Emptynester! A good breakfast somebody else cooked, with all utensils and wrappings that can just be thrown away - that's healing, that is. :D

I actually did slumber again this morning. Dd14 hopped in the shower after I woke her, and I snuggled back in for a few! HRH and I were up at 2 because the temp in the house was strange and we were trying to figure it out. Never did.

Good morning, villagers ~
Not a whole lot going on around my house this weekend. Sometimes boring is really nice. 8-)

I'm working on a few articles for the sewing group newsletter. I'm grateful that I don't have to put the whole thing together, a volunteer stepped up to help. We do have space to fill, though, so I'm trying to come up with something that might interest the others.

Sewing project for the day will be to hem at least 1 pair of DH's new pants. He didn't say anything, but I noticed that he's been wearing them turned up.

Must keep an eye on the clock, as DH wants to go to a movie this afternoon. The Amazing Spider-Man is at the 2nd run theatre. I don't really care if I see it since we saw the previous version, but DH heard that the flying special effects are really good with old-fashioned wire work instead of everything being added by computer.

After the movie, if it's still nice out, I want to pick up trash in the yard. That's assuming that DH doesn't need my help fixing a leaky faucet. It's an old house, there's always something. I want to be outside, though. There's a small band concert scheduled at 6 at a nearby park, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to hear the music from our yard.

Wow, 2 pages already.

Cathy, your upcoming vacation sounds wonderful. I wish it was me.

Lynlee, I enjoyed reading your chicken stories. I have never seen black chickens or roosters. Did you grow up on a farm?

I didn't feel up to church this morning. So I got up but begged off. It just felt too tiring to go through what I do in church. The standing around in the courtyard talking to people (I could omit that but people find us on the way out and way in). Sitting with DFriend who lost her husband, talking with the woman who has husband in hospital/rehab for past month (she seeks us out). It just felt like such a relief not to go. Maybe if I didn't have to drive..but we take 2 vehicles.

While the house was quiet and empty, I got out my choice of mops & bucket and mopped the whole house. Every room. Yesterday I emptied the vacuum and swept the whole house. It hasn't looked this good in a long while. I've been trying trying to pick up and put away miscellaneous flotsam and it's finally looking better in that direction too. Just looking around raises my spirits.

Sunny, I remember our cousin uses a cpap. We both know why. The first time she came to visit she didn't stay overnight because she was concerned about the noise of her machine.

Last eve. I googled chronic fatigue. I don't think I'm that bad. Mark that one off the list!

Good morning all. Being short of time and VERY anxious to get back here and catch up, I haven't read posts yet. Will read at least some of them if I have time. It's been a busy two weeks and I actually did get here and start reading posts at least once, but got called away and never made it back.

Dggd spent the night here. Don't know why the decision but it is good to have her. It's usually way too quiet over the weekends. This one is a motor mouth so it certainly isn't quiet with her here except when she is asleep. Ds and dgs (father of the little one who is here) went hunting Friday night and yesterday morning, and came back with two antelope. Not much meat on them as they are pretty small, and ddil said the meat isn't all that tasty anyway. She plans to make jerky out of our share. Hope that doesn't offend any of you, but the plain fact is that here that's what boys and men do. At one time the schools called the first day of deer season a vacation day because so many high school boys would turn up missing. Not sure if they are doing that any more.

Interestingly enough, dggs/17 is not even faintly interested in guns or hunting. His dad doesn't know what to make of that.

I'm ready to leave for church and found myself with a few minutes to spare which is why I decided to come here and post. Talk later.

I was stuck on donwannas today and just happened to think I'd set numbers for focus for 7 different days. Was going to ask for a random number between 1 and 7 and decided to 'google' it. This is the site that came back. Sounds like a fun way to find a random number when I 'need' one. (Can you tell I didn't put a lot of 'gottas' on today?) No need to download anything.

Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Making progress on Mandel bread and the brownies from yesterday are packed up to go. DD called and proposed coming home this afternoon through tomorrow for Rosh Hashanah, and I think she is going to do so. Dh and I are supposed to light the candles tonight at the beginning of the service - I told her I hoped she could be there on time if she comes so we can do that as a family. She will also go to lunch with us tomorrow at the nice restaurant, too.

By the time I finished writing, the mandel bread was out of oven and cooling. I've found what I need to announce tonight and printed also. (We have members who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today, and some friends of theirs have ordered flowers for the reception tonight.)

Time to p--p or get off the pot and start writing. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Harriet!

Well today has been a rather bust. Picked up DS13 when I got out of reserves to run some errands but discovered that every where we needed to go was closed. Now home have pulled out a small Pork Tenderloin for dinner. Gonna finish checking sites and then head to bed for a nap.

MT - (((HUGS)))

MamaP - try marinating the Antelope in 1 small can tomato juice, 1/4 vinegar, and 1 tbsp spices of your choosing (I like Mrs. Dash) for 24 hours. I usually use a Ziploc bag. Then you can either roast it or cur into cubes for stew. If you roast it or braise it you can use the marinade. If you use it cut up for a stew don't use the marinade because the root vegetables (potatoes & carrots) will absorb the vinegar and taste gross. I use that marinade for all of my wild game, it is easy and gets rid of the game taste. I have people who hate wild game that will eat it and want 2nds.

CathyS - a 21 day cruise... I'm small can you hide me in your bag?

Sorry if I missed anyone.

Home from church for the day. This is the third time I'm home from church.

I rested the 7 minutes I talked about and made it to church for 9:30. Then realized our service wasn't until 11 so I didn't have to be there until 10:30 so came home and slept for 40 minutes. Went back. Just as I was finishing setting up, I put the CD in the CD player and discovered it didn't work. Couldn't get the DVD players (yes, there are two in the room) to work either. So went home again and got my cd drive for my computer.

Sunday school went well but chaotic and I spent ages after trying to get a DVD player to work so we could play the cd. Finally succeeded and came home at one. Dh asked if he could take me out for lunch. I'd love to go but I can barely walk and am near tears because I'm so tired.

I need to come up with something for my lunch and then go down for the afternoon.

DeeClutter, I am having a good laugh at the mechanization of Chore Bingo! Now, see, somehow the calculator choices won't have that heartfelt, loving SHOVE that your pals would give you! (Hmmm... ... maybe you should go with the calculator!) Besides, I always look at the personality and the amount of choices and think to myself, "Now, behind which number would my friend have hiden her most procrastinated chore?" ;) A machine just can't give you that same hands-on, well-thought-out insensitivity that your fellow villagers offer.

mamapiano, it's cool that your ds hunts and reminds his children/grandchildren where meat comes from. If we completely lose self-sufficiency, that will be a poor choice, for sure.

((Kathryn))

I have taken some decorating steps. The re-upholstery decision is made on fabric for new muted-shades geometric-patterned seat cushions on a solid-colored couch. I'm going to have them make 2 new 20-inch square pillows with welted/piped edges of the patterned fabric at the same time and can just envision that it will be very pretty. (Phooey on the saleswoman who could not "see" the concept of two fabrics upholstering one couch.) I may choose a third pillow that is smaller or rectangular. I saw a wonderful loooong pillow, maybe 9x30, used in the store for the middle of a couch, but I don't know how practical that is. I will have them go ahead and make nice matching arm-covers now rather than wishing for them later. (Ask me how I learned that lesson) One thing I know for sure - no more round pillows in a house that sees grandboy traffic! No more pillows rolling across the floor, I don't care how attractive they are!

Btw, I'm told that long pillow is called a "Long Decorative Bed Pillow" BUT the new concept is to take the MOST decorative ones, with sectional bands of trim, off the bed and put them on a couch. I just don't think my family will know how to sit if I introduce this new shape! ;) I can see HRH carefully standing the pillow up in the corner of the room! :?: Does anyone already have one? Has is been practical?

Harriet, your fabric choices sound great to me. I like geometric patterns, and they're back in style, though they still have that retro look. Is this the couch your DDad has claimed as his own? I think the long pillow would be helpful if your couch was so deep that it wasn't comfortable. No, I can't do many pillows here. DH throws them around. I have one for a head pillow for napping. I have a travel pillow in a case for the small of my back. I'd like to be decorative, but I don't have a "decorative" husband. ;)

Kathryn, I cannot imagine how you did all that.

I am stopping for a while. I have:

Finished clearing as much as I'm able all the counters and table. Everything is wiped. Dishes are done. Small appliances are wiped. Big appliances are wiped (though not polished yet). Some of the cabinets wiped. Heavy stone chopping block lifted and everything cleaned underneath and the bottom of the stone. DH drips coffee on it and it runs underneath. Microwave cleaned inside & out. All the garbage is outside in the can.

I had a hoar der s show on. Wasn't even thinking about it, but I got up and accomplished all of the above. Well! That show has some value after all.

Retrieved yesterday's mail and sorted. Read a magazine so I could put that in recycle bin.

DH wants a haircut. I am going to rest until he comes in.
