Wow, I didn't get up until 10 a.m. - guessing I won't need a nap today? That would be 12 hours of sleep, although I was up several times: once in the night with dMacs, another time to let them them out early, another time or two, once when dh came and got Macs and fed him.

The only thing that has to be done today is a trip to the drugstore to p/u the compounded scripts I dropped off on Wednesday. One needs to go to dd if we see her tomorrow. Dh is proposing meeting her halfway for brunch but I don't know if she'll want to get up "early."

This is going to be a busy week straight through until Thursday evening - working M, TU, TH and Yom Kippur activities on TU night and all day on Wednesday - so I'd really like a pretty low key weekend. I also volunteered to make a batch of cookies for the temple break-the-fast on Wednesday, in addition to the kugel which I'll make on Wednesday afternoon. (Services at the temple basically go all day, but I typically come home after the a.m. service and put my kugel together and bake, and have a nap while it bakes. The kugel goes back to the temple nice and hot, and I get back in time for the 4 p.m. service.)

DMacs is whinny about getting in his walk, so I guess that's the first order of business. Out of pajamas and somewhat presentable, and take ddogs out.

Helia and Kathryn, the Israelis that we know and people who have visited there don't think anything about it. The 20-something daughter of dfriends is there for a year, and will probably stay longer, we have had two Israelis in my town as "ambassadors" and it's not something they worry about. DH has gone several times with groups, and our rabbis spend a year there as the first year of their rabbinic training.

Today can be summed up in a single word smokey! Ack! Some relief tonight according to the local news / weather reports forecast. I'll be looking for indoor exercise opportunities, farmer's market will be less fun with the smoke today.

The clothing exchange is not until mid Oct. I'm not sure why they put the add in the paper this weekend. sigh so won't be doing that today. They have "conditions" on it you have to bring 2 cans of food in for their pantry. Glad I took time to read it before I left the house saved me a stop and frustration.

H. is still sleeping. Coffee is done. I slept in until nearly eight a.m. today. My bs is acceptable for a diabetic this morning. H. said there is a car show today not sure if he was thinking of trying to take it in or not. A bunch of the guys at his work are "car guys".

I am being very lazy. We have a whole day with nothing to do except some laundry.

Just watched while a group of our club helped a fellow member fix his MH. He drove too close to a light pole and when he turned he hit the side of the MH and tore the whole back lose. But they got out some straps and screws and pushed it back together so he could get to the repair place. It is made of fiberglass. It will put a big crimp in his plans, however as he can't travel far that way. Especially if it rains.

The lots are looking pretty empty. We will be staying here until tomorrow when we head for Pomona Lake COE Park. I've shortened our stays in the two COE parks so we will get down in NM sooner. It is starting to get chilly here and now I am seeking warmth.

Dh got home as I was heading out with the ddogs, so he walked with us. I've read the paper now, also. Going to work a round, and then head to drugstore.

-start a lol
-vitamins for me and ddogs
-make the bed

Happy to report I have noticed development of good habits here!
This morning, when I could have spent 30 minutes or so on computer while waiting on dh to return w/breakfast, instead I just automatically walked past the computer room after I got my morning diet Coke, went to the bathroom, did my daily Bible reading, and got in the shower. All without really even thinking about it. (I'm so proud of me!)

We have to get ds in about 30 minutes to go to ballgame. I hope ds will drive my normal portion of the route so I can grade papers.

I thought I dreamed it, but dh came in the bedroom late last night to tell me the SUV had died. * sigh * It has been having some sort of electrical short for some time, and dealership mechanics could find no reason for it... but now, something is just dead. No lights, no radio, no start-up, nothing. We will probably have AAA tow it to local mechanic next week b/c we don't have the AAA service to pay to be towed to dealer. * sheesh *
Luckily, we do have dmil's van for the weekend, and she'll let us keep it as long as needed.

I needed that "sum" idea, Kathryn. That is a very good thought for me to hold on to. In my after-school hours, too, I must realize that 15 minutes a day = 1 hour and 15 minutes p/week. I should be able to get a lot done in that amount of time.
If I can make myself learn to delay gratification for computer in the mornings, surely I can learn to delay gratification for nap in the afternoon. FOR 15 MINUTES, at least. That doesn't seem to be asking a lot.
I still can't settle on 15 minute vacuuming sessions, though, b/c the getting out -- putting up of the vacuum is a big hurdle. I just hate the thought of having to do that EVERY day, you know? But I could break it into two days, probably. Maybe do hard floors one day & carpets the next? That would be about 30 minutes each...
But my goodness, if I spent 30 minutes p/day on little tasks... that would be 2.5 HOURS each week.
Wouldn't my house look better w/that sort of time devoted to it?

I don't want to become one of these moms who is obsessed with her kids. I can feel that tendency.

Are you SURE you don't see any of us that way, helia??? I know I'm obsessed w/ds. I readily admit it. I'm not really PROUD of it, but he is so well-adjusted that I am proud of HIM, so I don't think my obsession was/is harmful to him. Or at least, he has been able to work around it.

Oh -- movie review -- we loved Trouble with the Curve, w/Clint Eastwood. Saw good & bad reviews beforehand, but we definitely give it two thumbs up!

Ended up deciding to crawl back into bed with dh where it was warm.

It was a bit damp out, so we decided to stay home from the garage sales and dh has gone to the Farmer's Market by himself. (He had to track someone down that works there.)

We will be going to the Flea Market because it's right near the Hangar at Downsview where the derby game is tonight.

I love being flexible. Warm helps, too!

Lucylee I don't think you are obsessed about ds any more than you are obsessed about other parts of your life!

Helia: Haifa makes more sense. In any case, it would be interesting to see the non-army, non-medical death rate for the area you were going to and comparing that to major US cities. Perhaps the perceived danger is greater than the actual danger.

I've finally got the data off my palm pilot. I still haven't figured out an elegant way of transferring the notes to my new phone but at least the data is on my current computer so that's a start. And all my contacts are up to date. That means my old computer is now off my desk and back on the treadmill where it lives.

My second load of laundry is in the wash. The dishwasher is running. As soon as I finish my milk and cookies, I'm off to bed. Am feeling myself get very tired, quickly.

Dinner is still not planned, the tables are still covered and I don't have much to show for today. Sigh...
