I could not get to sleep after dozing on the couch so got up and clipped toe nails and cleaned the bathrooms then slept fine. It's great having those chore cards done! Yea for progress now that's motivating.
H. too the rest of the pumpkin bread left over from the pot luck yesterday to work for the guys so that's not here to tempt me yea!
Chickens are up h. fed em. I forgot to check for eggs but it's pretty early in the day still.
Just realised w/ no school today here so part of granny duty in the will not be happening as it was for dd to help in the class room. Columbus day no mail or banking etc either.

Not a great sleep, but ok once I got to sleep. I've discovered leaving the overhead light (dimmed) and the wall night light on is fine when I'm really exhausted and fall right asleep. But if I'm not exhausted, it's hard to get to sleep with the dim light on. I ended up covering my eyes; I guess I need one of those eye masks! I'm finding the light a comfort though for when I wake up a couple times during the night, look around and see everything quite ok and then happily go right back to sleep. I'm still a little freaked from those terrors.
Have 1 bed stripped, sheets washing. I made lunches for DH to take, called county office, and I'm working at my desk (with my crown on
To Do Today:

Re: Monday Motivation
Thanks for the kind thoughts re: dh and running. He was slightly disappointed today - but also realizes this was a long run for him. He is very driven and goal-oriented -- can you tell? LOL!
He is competitive too, so the race may kick him into a higher gear. . . . Since he is approaching 49 years, I think he's doing great! No, the kids don't run, OK. They don't do anything for exercise, actually. The girls ride bikes to school when the weather cooperates. Dd14 will do synchro. swim. later this fall.

Re: Monday Motivation
Good morning y'all...
Money motivates me now that I'm not working. I pay myself for jobs I do. I pay myself for my time to see how much I'm worth. May not be much in the real world but it's it works for me.
I cleaned most of my house this weekend. Still have a load of wash to fold and an other in the wash. Off to pick up foot prints and then I have flowers to plant...Willis will be my assistant for that project

Re: Monday Motivation
Motivation: I forgot to answer that question.
1. Deadlines (either external, like taxes, or self-made like inviting people for dinner.)
2. A deadline in another subject area (when I have a sermon to write, my bathrooms seem to be very clean!)
3. Music. If I can get off my butt and turn on the music, it keeps me moving.
4. Old movies. When I have a mindless task (filing, sorting, mending, tidying, emptying, washing the contents and dusting the china cabinets, deep decluttering), putting on a movie in the room I'm working in keeps me in that room and so I don't wonder off and get distracted elsewhere in the house. I have a portable dvd player that I use for rooms that don't have a tv. And I choose old movies I know and love so I don't have to concentrate on the movie, but just tune in and out of it, focusing only on my favourite scenes.

Re: Monday Motivation
Good morning -and it's almost afternoon here! I just turned on the internet a little while ago. I've been trying to get the dailies done & some extras. I'm really down to making l**ts of L**ts. Now I'm getting hives -thinking of which one I need. Then dh came in and said he had to make another l&&t. Told him I already have multi ones going -not sure we can stand another. I know there are duplicates. But there's just so much to get done in the next 23-25 days. Yikes, that's all there is?
Made one phone call this morning to establish when dh's dentist appointment is this week -I had it down for Wed AND Thurs. It's actually Thursday.
I separated things I have to do or pack into 'categories' this morning, hoping that will help me stay centered.
Really cold out there -when I got up at 3 it was 39. Is it even colder there, Kathryn?
Okay, I have a lot of numbers too -and either have a card or check list with things done pretty individually -like you. Gives me more a feeling of accomplishment. Guess that is one of my big motivators AND coming here always motivates me to do more. I'm extremely motivated under those deadlines and try harder & harder to ease in on them -instead of having much to do -last minute!

Aren't they getting to be a lot of fun now, Lucy? Went to DS-A's for a family get together (they'd also invited our old neighbors so it was GOOD!). Had a wonderful turkey dinner (with the turkey about the best we've ever had -it was very flavorful & MOIST!). Picked up dgd17 to go with us and took her back to the b'day party she'd left to be with all of us. Want to be sure to ask DGS19 & his GF if they would like to join us any Sunday between now & Oct 28th. DGD said we should do this every week during the summer -but it really gets more complicated in the nicer months. But we definitely want to try for more get-togethers next year. DGS was giggling & smiling like crazy last night. He especially giggled when anyone put him near me. Now what was that all about? Wondering if it was my glasses. I just relished it.Dgs was very good, smiled & laughed

Re: Monday Motivation
HAPPY CANADIAN THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF OUR CANADIANS!!!
<
Our weather has cooled off and now I just want to sleep and sleep. Not good because I have too much to do. We go to the Central Coast of California next Monday and then go see the San Jose family. We will be paying upwards of $5.00 per gallon of gas on this little trip.
Gas has risen in CA and NV phenomanonly just since last Friday. Two refinery fires plus other happenings in CA has caused this - so they say.
Somehing very wrong here. Mr. Guy checked our stations in AZ and they are $3.63. I see greed here.
I need to get on the stick here and get a lot of things done before we leave for AZ on 11-29. I am pretty proud of my self though that I did as much as I did since April. (Mr. Guy is helping more than he use to because he knows this old gal can't do as much anymore.
)
I'm happy to see everyone on here is doing pretty good right now. Think of you all. (MT, I know how anxious you are to get home to AZ. I'm ready to get back down there myself.)

Kathryn - you are a wealth of information! 27 years of SHE card usage has given you well founded experience and knowledge. I am constantly learning from you.
I am trying something new to me in the garden this year. I ordered 3 types of onion seeds and have been steadily planting them this fall. Last winter I had fresh carrots, radishes and greens harvested from the garden all winter long. They started growing before it got cold and they continued all through the winter months. Not sure if it was a one time fluke or not. I've got several things planted this fall to see if they will live through the winter months under heavy mulch. I have low expectations, but do enjoy the thought and possibility of limited success.
