Rain here today and it's looking brighter in the West.
52* so not all that cold.
Hoping everyone is safe on the East coast storm.
I'm up & I've fed the chickens they are not liking the rain today and wanted out of their pen. I have to get out and clean their pen and change water later on. When dgd is here hoping that it's dryer by then.

I've had breakfast and bs was not terrible today.
Made & drank coffee.
Some walk done.
Change chickens water done.
Granny duty underway here now.

Bernice - hope you can come back to the Village often as a place of support. Know that you have a safe place here to vent, cry and even make lists. We will give you the support you need.

Waiting for DH to get up here. We need to go in for his blood tests before Dr. appointment next week. Then he can take me out to breakfast and we will probably do a bit of shopping. Then back home to erase the footsteps from the weekend.

Tomorrow I have Dr. appointment for my feet. Just a check up to make sure all is well. Just one of those things diabetics do.

I'm back home -took me exactly that hour and a half! Bought dh a pumpkin spice cappucino but dcampowner had just brought him a cup of coffee. So I brought it home and will heat it again in a little while.

At least a lot of the things that we would need to prepare for Sandy we already have as permanent campers -batteries, water, food, etc. We did see generators flying out of C World yesterday. Know DS-A was going to move his MH today to get it away from their tree line. Really need to look at our deck and see if we have things out there that are going to fly -haven't quite finished putting things away out there.

Been wondering about Harriet's dd32 & if she stayed on at Harriet's or went back east?

I've donned my apron and need to get down to it. Hoping there will be a break in the rain (not likely) occasionally so I can put things in the car. I meant to stay in the car when I got back from running to straighten it around a bit.

I absolutely have to get the church council minutes typed up, proofed and send to the church secretary. Think I'll go to card central to keep myself motivated over there. Part of me thinks IGAD tomorrow to finish up -BUT if it gets too windy we'll probably be going to DS-A's to spend the night. May take DH into our town tonight to get a shower at the fire hall tonight. Depends on how bad it is out.

I'm running over an hour behind so far today - a sign that the storm is distracting me.

Dh found our anthem for Sunday online so we are working on learning it here. Not sure if that means we'll be going to practice tonight or not. I'm sort of leaving all this up to dh. The weather will be worse on the Seaway (they have wind advisories and we don't) and I'm worried about our new car being hit by something flying by. He'd love to avoid the 5 a.m. wake-up call tomorrow. I would want to be on the road by 6 if the weather is bad, 6:30 otherwise.

The border will be manned no matter what so I can't imagine the appointment being cancelled. The span of the bridge to the island with the border is relatively short and well sheltered so I can't even see it being closed by wind. Our appointment is actually in Canada so we aren't crossing tomorrow (unless I suggest we cross and drive back to our border crossing so I can do some shopping at Walmart.)

Good morning y'all

Well I am watching the storm from afar. I belong to a fb group of my home town and am getting real time pictures. Thought there has been little rain yet thestorm surge has already raised the rivers 5 ft over normal tides. Every one I know has battened down the hatches. At least 8 of my friends have been forced to evacuate their homes due to mandatory ruling.

Katherine...there is little rain in NYC at the moment. However if you watch the tv broadcast from Battery Park and are familiar withthe area you can tell by the swells in the bay just how much water is moving and the storm is still more than 12 hrs away.

The buildings in NYC cause a canyon effect with the winds. That means the wind's strength is usually 15-20mph greater than in other areas. The entire east coast of nj's has a mandatory evacuation. The nj weather office says there hasn't been a storm this big to hit nj since 1903....my mom is 85 and says she remember her grandparents telling her stories about the storm. I told her now my brother can pass along his stories to his grandkids.

I'm gonna distract myself today by working around the house. Sweetie knows I'm feeling uneasy and is abot concerned as well... Remember he grew up next door to me and knows the area. This tells me my concerns are valid.....

Slept til 11:30... love my own bed. We had fun in NC and made it home fine. Ended up going to DP/BFF after we got back for dinner but there was some trouble with Dinner so we ended up going out for Mexican. Her DsS came home with us since the DK's are out of school (due to Sandy) and I am off today.

My plan for the day is to work on cleaning the house. First I need to finish my coffee.

The waiting continues. Very windy & rainy here, & the worst of the storm hasn't hit yet. Dh & I have been puttering & checking in with friends & family this morning. Still feel a little anxious because there is no way to know what kind of damage the strong winds will cause later on. Hope our sump pumps can keep up so the basement doesn't flood. We have buckets & a shop vac ready to go; have had to use them before when pumps couldn't keep up with the water coming in.

I wonder how long the power will be out. We have been warned it may be more than a week because so many will be affected. I was feeling good about being able to keep my laptop charged through our generator until I realized that if/when the cable goes out I won't have any access. Praying for the safety of everyone in the path of this storm.

Breaking for lunch -I've spent at least 1/2 hour on minutes (probably longer because I never 'started' the 2nd 15 on my timer)

Dfriend from here who is now in Zephyrhills, FL called to see how/where we were. Uh...still here. Dh and others are battling to get the water lines cleared as quickly as they can today. 1 offered to take dh to lunch, but he didn't want to 'break'. Then dd called to see where we're spending the night. Making her uneasy if we stay here. Haven't had a chance to talk with dh yet. DS-A offered us his dsd's bed, but I'd almost rather go to a motel. We'll see. I've turned off the TV -was too distracting while I'm trying to do 'minutes'.

Want to finish my lunch, get the minutes done and SENT and then I can concentrate on making sense of the mess I've made in here. Need to pack to leave fairly quickly if we decide that's needed later. REally would like to get some things squared away in the car. Hate going out in the rain, BUT it's only going to get worse!

Dove.... I've been texting with my brother. He's 3 miles from the ocean and up the street from the river. He is the past fire chief of the ocean town which has been evacuated. I asked him how he was doing....he said "not to worry, I'm reading... The worst will be tonight"

He's so laid back....but he had to help with 9/11 so as long as he's calm I am too.
