(((Twins))) Human nature is what it is. It amazes me that so many of us face the same problems regardless of denomination, faith, or even similar projects. It seems that if you get a group of people together, there will be conflicts!

I'm at Presbytery. Ready for a nap but still have another 30 - 45 minutes and then on to lunch, errands. Naptime I believe is set for 2:30. Dinner is started in the crock pot and the kitchen was tidy when I left.

I have been going as fast as I can this morning, but haven't seemed to make a dent in what needs to be done here. I need to adjust my expectations.

Lunch made and ready to serve (vegetables & rice, pinto beans)
Supper in crockpot and will only take about 10 minutes to finish & put on the table (Country style ribs, baked potatoes, green beans, salad)

I leave in 45 minutes to pick up DMom and then do back-to-back halloween activities. Nothing else will get get accomplished today. My goal is to get back home by LO bedtime.

Good morning y'all
I spent most of yesterday on my home town's fb page. I found myself as a second hand reporter as I relayed information from my brother to my hometown. He lives just two miles from our ocean town and had managed to make it to the base of the bridge that crosses over the river onto the beach town.

I don't know if I can clearly communicate yesterday to y'all. I am 62, my db 61, and my dm is 84. When I began talking to my db we had heard from others that sea bright, the town had been destroyed. This town is a narrow strip of land between a river and an ocean. It has existed for a hundred years. It began as a summer community. It is where I grew up, ate pizza there After every school danced, kissed boys under the board walk, and experienced my first summer love. This story has been played over and over again many times by many people over many years. It's where I met my "summer" friends year after year un till I was 21.

While I was on the phone with db he reached the beach side. I asked him.....are they gone?.meaning the beach clubs which are massive building with private lockers, pools and grills..he replied ....yes. We were texting at this point. Not able to comprehend I asked..you mean the clubs are gone? He said all destroyed or beyond repair. These beach clubs stretch for several miles along the beach I asked him if his fire house was still standing. He said he didn't know.

Because he is the prior fire chief of this town he was given access to survey the area. However he received a phone call from a friend whos home was surrounded by water and needed to be rescued. My db being my db said he'd be right there. So like him.

During this time I was posting on my towns fb. Everyone was hearing rumors. However with my db's eyes I was able to confirm what was true. Because my town is such a close community kids that grew up there and moved away still consider it home. Many are like me and live miles from where we grew up. Because the town is small we all attended the same schools, fished and skated on the same ponds and shopped at the same stOres. Doesn't matter our ages, we all share the same memories.

As more information became available I kept updating the page. Others began posting pictures and it became evident many more of our beloved land marks within our town had been washed away or destroyed. It is sort of like having your childhood memories washed away and although we are thankful that no lives were lost we are still trying to absorb what has happened

I've got a li&t, mostly misc things that need to get done, but I am marching on. I turned on the dishwasher to run, not because it was full but because it smelled so strongly of onions. Thinking of making chili for supper tonight - easy and can get ingredients when I go to grocery. I'm going to head out on those two errands and will be back to work here at home.

49*-70* today's temps. near record hi. good weather for today for us.
Today the chickens were having their morning nap after breakfast I took out some plums I'd froze for them from the summer crop before I got the pen done. Then thawed pumpkin as well.

Mail is here time to fetch and process that.
I need to get out some thing out to thaw for our dinner.
It's good to get the room in the freezer when the chickens get that stuff that's been in the freezer a yr.

DH got out the Atlas yesterday and showed me where his family went for summer vacation every summer, and he told me how his Dad went fishing everyday in the bay and he went to the beach and looked for girls. He didn't live there, but nearby in Pennsylvania. Those memories of all those summers are treasured memories. Cowinkie, the places may be gone, but you do have those memories. I'm sure some of that will be rebuilt.

(Twins). I'm very lucky we have such a good head to our committee in church. (We are the Deaconesses of the church). She sends emails everytime we do any little thing thanking us for all we do. Sorry you seem to have so many problems.

I've been squirreled away back in our office all day so far. I started out at my desk in the LR and decided to pull stuff out for the recycle bin...and got started on that big project. Good grief! DH had put lots of personal stuff in the trash when he cleaned out that file drawer last night (I posted about it in decluttered home thread.) So now all that is shredded, a big pile of brochures, etc. in recycle bin and another bin full almost to the top which I'll empty over the next few weeks. It's too heavy to take out as it is.

I've emptied the shredder. Now I'm ready to get back to those things I started at 10 this morning. It's the end of the month and I have bills to pay and company bookkeeping to close out for the month.

Wow, a lot of work done, but not a lot of it shows.

Thanks for all your thoughts. The fire house and police station were made of brick and are still standing even though their backs were to the ocean.....guess the third little pig got it right after all.

Pictures keep being posted all over the net of my home area. It's hard not to look and distressing when I do. I feel for all my friends that are still living in the area. One gal posted asking if a certain beach club was still standing. She has her huge wedding plan for there on nov 17th. The entire club as been washed out to the sea.....glad I wasn't the one who had to tell her. Sure there are many more stories like this

I'm going to the library to distract myself. I need to get a grip
And Move on.....my mom is ok, but without power. Maybe this event will give her a reason to get out and meet others in her community. In the past she used the excuse that she had nothing in common to share with others around her...... Can't say that any more cause now she does. She is at her best when helping others...think this storm will provide her with many opportunities.
