My ddad is very weak today, saying he just doesn't feel well. I took his temp and it is normal. He ate relatively well for breakfast. The friends who deer hunt were by and the dad said he might stop by later hoping to catch my ddad feeling better after a nap. Funny how a woman might think it was a bad day to visit and put it off, but a man thinks he'll just wait a couple hours.

HRH had to call me after he'd only been gone a short time. "Hello... (pause) ... listen, would you go upstairs to my desk and get my wallet... ..." He was out in the world as illegal as could be.

He did not take another pain pill after the one Advil yesterday. Hope he's not overdoing it. He is wearing shoes that look reasonably normal but are really slippers. He can make this a somewhat laid-back day he thinks.

I've handled trash and recyclables duty, a second small load of laundry, and written a get well card to a cousin-in-law.

Oh, editing to say my ddad has gotten back up and is dressed, so maybe he has napped and forgotten how badly he was feeling.

Lilac - wow long but informative post. It is called Baptism in the Catholic Church, I was raised a Bi-Annual Catholic (Christmas & Easter), my DS19 was baptized but I left the church shortly afterward. I am no longer christian but have raised my boys with an understanding of both my religion and Christianity (with a Catholic background). We celebrate christian holidays with a Celtic (pronounced Keltic not Seltic) twist.

Lucylee = I hate to admit I am horrible about cards much less Thank You cards, although from the collection I have it is obvious that I keep meaning to. I do try to make sure to call or send an email.

Twins - LOL that sounds like me in the morning. Everyone at work swears I come in with a horrible "I Hate Mornings" look and that they try not to bother me until I pull out my back-up coffee cup (I have 2, 1 is my Navy cup & 1 is a 10 yr old S tarbucks one that has a locking lid and keeps coffee hot for hours )

I got a ton done on that last groove without my timer, I now have my timer going for my break but may have to reset it to complete this post.

So I ended up needing to use the restroom in the midst of typing this post and then got sidetracked by Bert & Ernie on the way back... not what P&P meant by S.H.E. but *5 for me.

I am feeling really good about today, finally got DS19 to get off the PC so he can go pay his fines, DS13 is still in bed being lazy. He doesn't know it yet but he gets to help in the Kitchen.

OKay, I'm holding good thoughts for LO's surgery, that it be an easy procedure and he isn't frightened going into it and it's successful. If he's got fluid in his ears, could that be his hearing problem? Think about how well you hear things when your head is under water. My DGSon had tubes, though I believe they didn't take his adenoids..still it went flawlessly and kept him from having recurrent ear infections. DD just had to watch when he went swimming, etc., and the tubes came out eventually on their own.

Lilac, you are right about bad weather reoccurring. The year we had Hurricane Charlie, there were 3 (I think) hurricanes after that. It was horrible, all that debris to blow around, and we had to keep going to jobsites and secure things that were half-way built, also piles of lumber, roofs not yet on, piles of sand for mortar, etc. It was a very trying time.

Lucylee, I know you will see this later. Just remember your DSon and DDiL want to be treated as adults, which means they make their own decisions, even if different from yours. You guys are so blessed to have them nearby. So many of us don't. You can be the tempering person in the family between them and your DH if he continues, by letting them know you accept them the way they want to be. I agree with what Lilac said.

I woke up ok, groggy but ok, and started laundry and began folding a load...then I had a flurry of phone calls and a chase around here to find a number... and now I just want to stop and hide my head. Stuff like this just zaps what little strength I have and I'm so discouraged...when is my strength ever going to come back? I must make a plan to address this so I can continue to go on despite this...but I don't know how. I have thanksgiving ahead of me and I will have a housefull of people and DGKs will be staying the weekend while parents go to a wedding. Everyone says they will help make the meal and I'm grateful for that, I'm just not used to being so needy...

Dee, glad to see you made it safely, hope you feel better soon. Have you considered where you will stay permanently if you decide you can't make the trip back and forth someday?

It's Apron Day and I am happily working through a stack of cards.

I will need to go out briefly this afternoon to check the PO box and deliver some books to the library. Wish I could do that without having to put on makeup, but I don't want to risk frightening small children so I'll add the minimum.

Thanks for the reminder to read the ingredients list on the cereal box. I am usually diligent about checking packaged foods for nutritional content. It never occurred to me that the 1 "plain" cold cereal I found in my regular grocery store might still include HFCS. I seldom eat cold cereal, but will still search for an alternate brand.

Okay ~ LO is so smart, is he too young to understand any kind of explanation of why they are taking the blood? Would he be distracted enough by the science to make up for some of the pain? I usually have to look away (cannot stand watching a needle go in, even on tv! although I can look once the tube is starting to fill) and focus on whatever song they're playing on the office muzak.

Harriet ~ I'm glad HRH is feeling well enough to be out and about. I hope that little bit of extra sleep is all that your DDad needed to fix him up.

Ivy ~ Meant to tell you that I remember watching that "Mrs. Miracle" movie on the Hallmark channel last year. It is very cute.

Well, in taking care of emails this a.m. I gave info to what is apparently a fraudulent site. I did not read the email carefully; if I had, I would have noticed (1) some unprofessional wording and (2) a misspelled word. Very fortunately, a screen on my computer popped up to let me know, but dh thinks the info went out anyway -- including a cc number, our address, and my SSN. The SSN is the kicker; I have spent an hour or so on the phone already and have 5 more agencies to contact. We cancelled the cc immediately. Dh told me to cancel, not just switch #s. Fortunately, this card was only in my name (it was my card for online purchases/business) and did not involved dh's name. The email and web site looked just like com cast, our phone and internet provider. I am kicking myself that I did not read it carefully. I have notified com cast and forwarded the email to their abuse center. In the meantime, I am getting interrupted regularly (like every 30-60 minutes) by political phone calls from one particular party. . . . We are not even considered a swing state -- I don't think.

SO, this day can only get better, right?

Off to call the credit bureaus.

scattered, baptize yes that was the word I was struggling for. I hate when I can't come up with the right word. That seems to happen especially early in the morning and late at night. Once I read christen in lucylees post, my mind could not pull the right word out of my feeble brain.

Speaking of messing up words. For some reason I keep asking dd2 about her kennel instead of kiln. I don't know how many times I have done that. Dniece posted a picture of her dd6 in a dog kennel with their little dog on FB and ever since I have messed up that word. Guess I AM losing it.

I have managed to reconcile my checking account. I think I will do anything to avoid what needs doing and that is housework!

helia, yikes, I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. About 6 months ago, dh opened a P aypal email. He immediately realized it was fraudulent, so he changed passwords quickly for it and our ebay account. I remember how panicked we were over that, so I sure understand your concern over your SSN. I am just glad that you realized what had happened and are able to take care of it. You might want to contact the 3 businesses that keep track of credit scores (here I am again struggling for the right word) and let them know your SSN has been compromised and they can prevent anyone from opening up more accounts in your name or buying a car or something. You never know, those criminals sure are sneaky and find ways to take advantage of honest, innocent people.

Scattered Loved the start of the day

DLucy I know it's hard to step back. Your dgs is blessed already. I am Catholic and I understand that you would love to have your dgrs baptized but it's their parents choice. - I believe it's more important to be an example of your faith rather then pressuring your faith. It is hard not to "mom" again; but now you have the wonderful job of being a grandma and another mom to your ddil.

Re: thank you notes... write notes to your dfriends thanking them for their kindness. No need to apologize for your children not writing them. (if you are embarrassed that they haven't that is something you internally should handle - don't worry about what other people think). Your ds and ddil are adults and I know how hard it is to step back but your job as a mom now and as a dmil is to be positive and let go of all the small stuff. All children; even adults need a safe place to land with positive words to boost them instead of tearing them down. Unfortunately I learned from problems in the past with dmom to back away from their judgement and pressure. I stepped away with my dkids big time to save them from judgement and stress. It wasn't easy because I wanted a relationship with them but couldn't handle the criticism and the quite honestly the nagging as I was doing the best I could. My dmom (well meaning but stressful but she really is trying hard to step back). They will learn on their own. It's not healthy for your relationship and you are such a good soul and a good mom[/i]. much love
