It's not working (keeping everything out)

I so understand this, especially, here, blessedw2! Dsonil has transparencies with all his drawings on them -EVERYWHERE! And heaven forbid if someone moves them. So taking a proactive stance, I bought him a large portfolio (like an art carrier). I plan to put his drawings in separate piles wherever they're located, before Christmas and Christmas Eve I plan to gather them, put them in the portfolio and wrap it. (Hoping he'll go along with that idea!) At least he could find them when he wants them -I think. There's no rhyme nor reason right now.

I spent over an hour scanning school photos (that dsisil had) and then did a sheet to 'name' them. My thought is to scan that printout as a picture to that same file.

Also spent over an hour cleaning the kitchen and doing the dishes. Now I'm taking (a deserved -IMHO- break). Been working ever since I got up.

Supposed to go to church at 1 to help with the decorating, but am not much help in that area. But I do need to know where the "Love Gift" tree is kept and put that out in the foyer. So may just go up for a short time. Might be able to get dh or dd to go with me -as long as someone is here to stay with gd.

GD was pretty mad at me last night for putting away the hamburger stew we had for supper. She went to get some about 9:30 -ya think it might still be out? Told her the rest was for dinner tonight. She didn't like that either. Oh well, we have to help dd cut corners wherever we can. Of course she was really disgusted with her dparents as they wouldn't let her go stay over with a friend from school -never mind that this girl has a license, drives wherever she wants (however she wants), goes to her boyfriend's and had a baby last year. The answer from both parents was a resounding, "NO". Not going to happen.

Blessed - could your papers be portable? I remember FlyLady talking how much she enjoyed having a portable office configuration..

I'm done cooking for the weekend. DH volunteered to take LO and deliver the funeral food so that gives me and extra couple of hours.

Kathryn - your right. Although I did speak with LO about staying off the stage and not playing the drums while the family is gathering. And.....staying off the gator.....and staying off the tractor.....and not rolling the barrels around in the arena .....and... and,,,,and..... He agreed to be on his best behavior so I'm hopeful no mishap will occur.

I'm going to check with DGS15 about getting him some jeans. He has already outgrown his jeans that we bought at beginning of school. They are above his ankles now. xDSIL is 6'6" and DGS15 is taller than his Dad and is still growing. Hopefully this growth spurt will slow down/stop and these new jeans fit him longer than couple months.

x went w/ dh to student exhibit of their projects. Dh embarrassed ds by straightening his tie. . . . I was proud of myself that I refrained from commenting on ds' need for a haircut. {this is the Eng. 100 course, required of all Engineering majors. There are a gazillion choices re: topics/sections; ds chose this one b/c it fit his schedule and his interests best. Actually, it turns out he was advised poorly and should have taken the CS section next semester which our dear friend from church teaches. . . Oh, well. I know ds has enjoyed the class anyway. The projects were all interesting; the kids had to construct a solar-powered item. Ds' group made a solar-powered cell phone recharger. Other items included a solar powered glove warmer, a solar powered fan, a solar powered seat warmer, a solar powered bean bag game -- and others we didn't get to.}

Good Morning, Villagers!

I weigh every a.m. because studies say that those who do, stick to their food plan and exercise more to keep the weight off or to lose better. Great idea, , but when you're an emotional eater like me, the weight creeps up even though I AM weighing every a.m. I've made some calendar reminders, emailed 2 friends with my plan, and will make a pledge here in front of everybody, how I'm going to:
1- Move more
2- Use my timer
3- Walk daily
4- Putter on the house more, because, let's face it, housework IS exercising, too!
5- Keep a PMA even though I'm worried about Ddil, our Dson, and DD. (They're grown-ups now, so Mommy, let them take care of themselves, and you take care of YOU!)

I was 168 Lbs. about 6 weeks ago, this a.m. I was 174 Lbs. I was wondering why my arthritis in my hips, lumbar, and sacrum were acting up so much! DUH! I'm carrying too much for my frame. And what's new is that my knees and ankles started hurting, too, so Mother Nature is telling me, to get "with" it!

Today's PODA:
- Feed Bert & Ernie
- Read on Runaway Eating (a book about emotional eating)
- To read my cue cards, which are cards, when emotional things set me off, making me eat, I read and do other more constructive things, housework, etc....
- To do my "Quietude" time and pray
- To write letters

Anyway, I hope to dust and dust mop today, too, do toilets, and crochet on a couple of toys for the youngest grands.

dh has changed his opinion about the stuff around the house to a point now that he knows I am not expecting a huge change. He will get the hutch drawers and all the bottom area that closes and you can't see it. He has also agreed to keep all his newspapers in his library - yeah!!!

lol, elly, you certainly don't have to stop talking about your tree here! If you wake up every morning from now 'til Christmas and think to yourself, "I've just got to tell the village how pretty my tree is", that's great as far as we're concerned!

Twins' Mom, I love to here about quirky ebay purchases. That's what ebay is for, IMO! It's the place to find the thing nobody else can understand. When my oldest girl-cousin was allowed to take home a big old cotton-gathering basket from my dmother's family homeplace, we went out to lunch afterward. She was thrilled to have it (she is the only one among all the descendants who still farms cotton so knew the rarity of old pieces like those baskets). She had to park her pick-up within sight of our table so that she could watch and make sure her basket was okay. She said no doubt someone would steal it if they understood how valuable it would be to some people. Amused at dh. More correctly, "You are the pack leader. You are in charge."

blessed, if your dh is getting more eccentric as he ages, join the club. Dd14 and I shake our head over HRH many times. There's a different drummer playing here, for sure.

Harriet, I'm not so sure I am the pack leader, tho! I'm not sure Macs thinks that. Had a nice walk w dogs - temp up to 60 or so degrees so it was really pretty warm. Not sure that dh will still want to go to out - I'm actually hoping not since I need to be out of the house so much tomorrow.

Assuming the vote on the rabbi's contract is favorable, which I strongly believe it will be, I wish I could suggest them coming over Sunday evening...or maybe going out? I don't think my house would be in shape for company.

Called hospital about dsis and they are waiting for "placement" to move her. Also talked to dmom.
