Good morning, villagers ~

I don't want to jinx it, but I think my cold is almost all gone. (Thanks for asking yesterday, Harriet.) DH's is hanging on, but I am convinced that's because I drink a lot of water and he does not drink any. I cannot convince him that diet cola and water are not the same thing, especially after he read a recent article in Parade that said people don't need 8 glasses of water a day.

Today I go to The Big City for errands and lunch with a good friend.

Cowinkie ~ Wow, with so many fun trips planned, you're going to have a fabulous year!

Which is part of why I've become so interested in 1940s nutrition. I've been watching some interesting and fun videos on youtube.

I recorded Downton Abbey last night but have not watched it yet. I don't have any problems with spoilers, though, so feel free to discuss and I'll catch up.

Hello Everyone!!!!

Okay.....Have a Great Day. I hope you get caught up.

Scattered....Enjoy your manic Monday.

Helia....Good Morning!

Dee....I hope you are able to get your report done without anymore frustration.

Elly....Enjoy your day!!!

Lilac....Good Luck with all that reconstruction. I am jealous, I would LOVE a new bathroom.

Nancy....it was 24 degrees when I left for work this morning. Actually kinda of balmy for here, lol.

Empty....Jealous of your reconstruction too. I casnt wait til we are financially able to do it too. Gotta get dd's wedding out of the way first tho.

OK, i am home now from my first shift. I was rather annoying this morning. I was running behind terribly on my second run, just alot of needy kids and even more needy parents. Everyone had a problem that they thought noone could solve but me. They were wrong, but we managed to get thru it all.
I guess its just gonna be one of those days.

Also, could I ask you all to keep good thoughts today for my DH? He has a job interview at a place that he is really really interested in. Its closer to home, it would make him real happy in his career, and it pays a good deal more money than he's making now. I am praying it goes well for him. He could really use a good break.

So for this morning, I have to.....
call the Y and fix Dd's payment issue (its my fault it got screwed up)
iron DH's shirt for this afternoon
make truck and electric bill payments
take a short nap if possible
lunch
leave early enough to get truck washed if the roads are dried up enough
Work 130-430

After work.....
talk to dh about his interview
make dinner...Spaghetti, meatballs, salad and garlic bread?
meds
check weather for Tuesday
get bag and clothes ready for tomorrow
bed at 7p. 730 at the latest.

Have a GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

ellyphant, I had also noticed Ivy's absence - yes, hope everything's okay, maybe she had her new grandchild arrive already and is gone to their home?

BookSaver, yes, when well-hydrated, the body is able to fight off colds better. At least your dh is getting the diet cola - yes, it would be good if he'd drink simple water, but at least he's doing some hydrating. You can share with your dh (and sorry he's still sick) that that particular few paragraphs of the larger article in Parade (the suggestion that our water needs are met through diet) got quite a lot of criticism. It was part of the radio discussion I mentioned hearing recently when someone advocating similar ideas admitted that teens don't get their water needs met in their usual diet at all. (That was as far as he would go, but obviously his concepts were NOT holding up for anyone who can't honestly say squeezing their foods would produce enough water to keep up hydration.)

Hope the job works out, itneverends.

With so many in our village mentioning they like Downton Abbey, the first thought is I'd like to see it. But a couple strikes against it for me, of course, are that it's a drama, and I've never enjoyed those much and likely wouldn't have anyone here to watch it with me, and it's an hour long. Still, it certainly is getting a lot of international press lately.

Today begins Bedrooms week of Focus cleaning and I'll be decluttering ahead in Bathrooms this week.
My own weekly today is the living room/dining room area.

Last evening I was contemplating alternating 15s in those rooms and maybe dd14's. We'll see how ambitious I get!

I watched Downton Abbey (DA) last night with LO in the room (he was playing with toys). This morning I remember to check the ratings and find out DA is for 13 years old and above. Argh!! That means all the shows (NCIS, BBT, DA) DH and/or I watch is not rated for LO age to watch. How sad is that? I remember when all TV shows that came on before 10pm were family friendly.

LO has a most awesome teacher. When we arrived at his class this morning, she had a surprise prepared for the children. She had removed the desk/chairs and replaced them with low tables and pillows. They are studying Japanese culture this week and she is immersing them in it as much as possible. She had a wok set up where they will be cooking food later today and using chop sticks. GOOD TEACHERS ARE INVALUABLE!!

Next up - prepare 2013 spreadsheet so I can process the backlog of MPB gross receipts.

We have sunshine and blue skies and are heading to above freezing temps! :) It's amazing how a bit of winter sunshine cheers my heart.

Yes, I agree - that IS an awesome teacher that LO has, OK. Wow! What fun - and how educational!!

Downton Abbey: I watched the first 2 seasons online, maybe through a PBS website? I can't remember. We don't watch TV in the evening (or anytime -- unless something special like the Olympics is on) so I don't think I could really manage to watch it as it comes out. And besides, I think I've already missed the first episodes, right? I DID enjoy the first 2 seasons, though I thought there were some plot weaknesses. Still, it was very enjoyable to me, and the historical setting was interesting, even educational -- and seeing life in the mansion from the point of view of the servants was intriguing. I'm looking forward to season 3 whenever I get around to watching it. :) Yes, like Harriet, I don't think anyone else in this house would be interested in watching with me. *sigh*

OK, a.m. routine is done -- except for teeth care. I'm drinking more tea, so I'll wait until I'm done with that to brush/floss. I'm currently working on a weekly menu plan and groc. list with my tea. Then, I'll be off to the groc. store.

how exciting for your d little one that he has such a great teacher! d okay emergent curriculum at it's best.

coming here late - took dd older and dh for a drive through the country (per request of dd older). We had a nice chat and a drive.
dd older sprained her ankle (badly) while running on the treadmill, so no ymca for her today

today is animal day, clean the laundry room day (swipe machines and sweep floor)
today is also paper work and phone call day (dd older is applying for jobs today)

sounds silly but I am making a list of what I am good at and what I really enjoy and also miss because I haven't taken the focus to have fun with who I was years ago. Now that dkids are almost moved out, I want to connect with the slower but old likes and dislikes as my life can get so busy I forget to do things I love. Trying to add them to my calendar again especially now that the girls (grown up and one on their way to college in another year)

wishing each of you a really wonderful day

thinking of Ivy also.

Blessed - that is a wonderful idea!

I have an hour time slot set aside to do the things I enjoy (play piano, quilt, etc). However, i have been neglectful in protecting that time. It is so easy to fill it with what seems like urgent tasks. I need to do a better job at setting and enforcing boundaries on that time slot.

2013 Spreadsheet created and updated.
Next up - process paperwork that has come in the last few days

Blessed.... That is the exact idea behind my Next LIST. the three favorite things I loved to so while growing up were ride my bike, be outside and read. I was happiest when doing those so have made a daily goal to do at least one of them each day.

When I was a kid I had an old abandon treehouse the was way up in a tree. I would take a blanket and a book and would read for a day. I loved being in the sky listening to the wind and feeling the sun on my skin. Now I take my book outside in my yard...I sit on the grass with my back against a huge boulder. I share my apple with Willis and feel like a kid for a few hours.

The menu plan and list took a lot longer than expected. I couldn't figure out what I felt like cooking this week; sometimes I get in a rut.

x menu plan
x groc. list
x teeth care
x 2 DPCs
x several emails: small group, Thursday dinner crew, back and forth w/ church secretary re: a parking issue which the moms group needs to know about
x got ds to look at LE winter coats online; he still seems to want to go shopping; not sure which is the cheaper option.
x switched laundry
x ate a part of lunch, 1/2 cup cottage cheese. I don't want to grocery shop while hungry. I think I'll eat an apple in the car just to be sure.

Now, I'm ready to go to the groc. store. Ds and I will go shopping this afternoon for a coat and/or his textbooks. I just hope the bookstore isn't super-crowded yet.

Great idea, blessed. I too love (and loved) both reading and being outside, Cowinkie!! I'm letting myself read every evening now. I also had several animal hobbies as a youngster; I've even pondered going back to raising show rabbits as I did in hs.
