I didn't realize anyone actually read Shakespeare as historical fact. I don't necessarily even read today's newspapers/news magazines as historical fact.

Same here. When I've experienced something directly and know the newspaper is inaccurate, that calls into question everything in the papers.

Progressing on my list fairly well but have introduced a wrinkle. My childhood best friend is working in the next village this afternoon and asked me to join her for lunch. I'm going. The basement can wait to be vacuumed and dusted.

Last week dd2 was able to enroll dgd3 in dance class. Today is her first dance lesson. This dance studio does The Nutcracker every other year. This past Christmas was their year, so it will be 2014 before they do it again. Dd2 took the 2 boys and dgd3 to it and dgd3 is already looking forward to being in it.

Yesterday I started the book that I had been on the waiting list for since Nov. I read all day and finished it. The library called and the book I had recently put a request for is in, so I wanted to be able to return this one, when I go to pick up the new one.

I am thinking that I will go to dd2s shop after dgd3s dance lesson, so she can tell me all about it. The library is on the way.

Guess I better get a shower. Dh has a 11 am dentist appt and will be coming home to brush his teeth before he goes. If I don't get with it, he will find me still in pjs.

I'm back from my blood draw & store run this morning went early so I could be sure and get in and out in a timely manner, had to pick up something for breakfast and lunches too, later on need to fetch dgd from pre-school.

I've made bed, s2s, had coffee, h. took trash to curb. Journaling is done.
We had some rain in the night not much just enough to make things a bit wet here this morning.

King Richard III I saw a bit on PBS about that and next year they are going to have a memorial near where he was found buried and some sort of building there opening end of next year museum or some thing of that sort.

Hens are staying in the back yard now for the most part so putting up the netting has been a success yea! The donkey on my walking route has been getting out nearly every day and ends up at the neighbors they have the greenest grass. So the hens are not the only escape artists! Seems to be common enough around here that folks don't worry to much about it. As dgd called them neighbor hood chickens the other day!

I also tend to have a little healthy doubt to the validity of many stories - a story even in Shakespeare is still a story. Today we tend to see many news sources rushing to the first conclusions rather than journalistic fact finding, (all for the sake of the "story"". Everyone is trying to wave their hands big enough and the voices loud enough with extreme dramatics to capture the audience #'s.

Today: dh is very busy already and I am not. I did take dd to school and stopped by bank and did some paper work for the family website. dh has already cleaned up the frontroom and the family room, and is washing laundry. Mmmm falling behind on the job.

Good morning, villagers ~
Up early and straight to bookkeeping for the sewing group. I'm looking forward to a fun meeting tonight. Most likely no one will ask about the finances (only current and past board members care about the business part at all) but I wanted the financial reports ready just in case.

Normally each month as President I only have to put numbers in my rough spreadsheet for my own info while the group's Treasurer does the official reports. Right now I have to fill in while she's on winter vacation in Texas.

I'm also filling in for the Membership chair while she's on vacation, so need to update her report, too.

Feels like my eyes are crossing after staring at the computer screen so many hours. I have a bunch of papers to 3-hole punch and file in my sewing group notebook, will do that after nap and lunch.

The meeting itself will be easy after I get the tables & chairs set up. I'm only the MC this time to keep things rolling smoothly. Someone from a local fabric store is coming to show us what's new in the store.

Ooh, blessed, when did you start taking French? How fun!! Your mother is French, right?

Lilac, the idea of your dgd3 taking dancing lessons and being in the Nutcracker in 2 years is just SO adorable!! I hope I get to see my grandkids doing such things when I'm older.

Dh and I had a short discussion re: media this very morning, which is probably why I made my initial comment. Re: media attention and dfriend S's Christian group, the issue has been warped by one outlet (online) to be about another issue, which it is not. And the Univ. came back with a pretty favorable decision yesterday, and I doubt the media will pick that up. As dh said, it's about the media making $$, writing what will sell, and people don't care/don't want to read about the U's favorable decision - for a variety of reasons. A few might like to keep the U in a bad light, but probably the majority no longer care/remember the issue, and so the full story in its full context will never be known. Also, the full story is not as interesting, and therefore not as appealing to readers, as its dramatized beginnings.

Adding -- actually, since the original "decision" was functionally reversed in the end, the news on the issue as it now stands out there is incorrect.

a.m .routine is done, except for teeth, MBR bed sheets have been stripped and washed, a couple more emails have been responded to. I've had some lunch and will head out to the groc. store next.

I surely need to speed up my mornings; it shouldn't take me so long to get my a.m. routine done.

Good Morning Dear Ladies,

Another sunny day here. I'm going to get out for a walk today.

Was working away in the kitchen and got sidetracked by Dson21 who wanted me to help him with his taxes. His is so simple, it only took a few minutes to do but the momentum is lost for the kitchen. Oh well, will have lunch, shower and then try to get out for a walk.

Kinda got to talk to Aunt Betty yesterday. Nursing staff told me the best time to call. She sleeps a lot but they wake her for meals and right after dinner seemed to be the best time. She could not hear me and kept trying to guess who was calling. She finally hit on my name and I yelled yes! yes! but then she got confused again and started going through the list.

She said the place she is at is nice but she still wants to go home and she is trying to get better so she can. I don't think she is fully aware how bad her condition is. I don't plan on saying anything about it to her either if I ever get to talk to her again. Said she wants to get a cell phone so she might be able to hear better.

I'll just stick with sending cards and short letters to her for now. There is a hole where our phone conversations used to be and I'll just have to fill it with something else.

Tried calling my dear sister-in-law but she is not feeling very well and wasn't up to chatting. I think living with a houseful of guys makes me miss the chatter of women talk.

On a happier note, Dson22 has gotten rock band for the x-box and we are having a blast with it. I'm lead singer-ha ha. Dson22 and Dson21 are on guitars and Dson 25 plays the drums. We usually play on Monday and Tuesday nights.


I also like the show Nashville so much that I downloaded the songs from I-tunes. The music is so pretty.

Well back to the grindstone for me.

helia, I am not familiar with online media outlets, but print media editors, usually assigned to individual sections, such as "Local", "Living", etc., are known for interest in the "what happened next" angle stories. Or perhaps if only a small local paper carried the story in print, the main editor would be the one. An email to the editor of any print media that carried part of an ongoing story should peke his/her interest in doing a follow-up piece. They are stung by hints of bias, so are often influenced by calls to fairness if the news changes. And, if a print outlet was to carry a more current follow-up, it very well might tug the online outlet into a similar choice.

I remember a history (it was history, now) class discussing Rome, in which a student announced to the teacher that he could recite what Marc Antony "actually said" about Julius Caesar, and the teacher just hung her head. At the time, I admit to being more impressed that he could recite Shakespeare than dismayed that he thought it was exact wording from Rome itself. HOWEVER, you have to give Shakespeare (whoever HE was) credit for summing up a sometimes-truth about human nature in that speech, that pertains to "poor" Richard 3, perhaps? "The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones."

Hello Villagers!

Having a better day so far. I got a lot of the most important desk chores done, faxing done and mailbox ready for pickup. There is more to do, but this is the most important stuff.

Emails sent, phone calls dealt with. I need to get bank stuff together and go to a couple banks, then I am going to treat myself to the library. I am going through withdrawal with no books here to read. I even looked at the books in W-M last evening to buy, I am so needy for one, but I didn't find any I wanted.

About Richard III, just now Fox showed really good pictures of the skeleton as it lay in the ground, with no coffin, just there in the dirt; and they interview the scientist doing the excavation. This has been ongoing for 2 years, gathering funds, etc., and we are now just hearing about it. Interesting that it is in a parking lot, adjacent to an old monastery. And this scientist agrees that Shakespeare was not a historian, he was writing for an audience at a time when the opposing political people would have been showing R. in an unfavorable light anyway.
