Harriet! I'm so glad you're here. I learn so much from you. :) I must have googled "quiddit" incorrectly b/c when I tried a 2nd time, there it was, the exact same definition that you posted!! Now I've learned 2 new words. Maybe I should pass them on as vocab words to dd17 who is supposedly studying for SAT/ACT. If their roots are Latin, which I think at least quiddit's might be, she might be able to figure out the quiddity of the word quiddit on her own. :D --I think I am entertaining myself now. . . .

I did enjoy the tongue-in-cheek tone of both poems!! Loved to watch Dick Van Dyke as a child.

Done:
/most of a.m. routine
x paid 3 bills which I found in the pile by the phone last night.
x more cards ready for the mail
x took care of a couple emails

I'm eating lunch right now so I can be done eating by noon - so I can get in a jog at the gym at 2.

Just remembered the moms group Valentine's Day brunch sign up which I should have sent out by now. I'll do that today. The brunch is on the 14th! Handy this year that it lands on the day itself.

Love the counter-poem too!

It took ages to get through the mail. There didn't seem to be much but it needed attention.

I've also updated the calendars (my purse one and Google) with hair appointments (dh booked us through to November) and synched them (a fancy way of saying, I went through and wrote the entries by hand into my paper calendar.)

That wasn't on my to-do list but by now I'm so far off my schedule, I thought, Why Not?!

BTW: discovered the international meeting held in my house has been moved back a week in September and that I might be going to Santa Fe in November. It pays to update calendars!

Morning y'all...

Oh Harriet you had me laughing this morning with your opening. I think you must have been reading my mind. Yesterday I worked outside in my backyard. I had decided to rearrange a landscaped area. It meant a lot of work, but I've learned over time that if I just pace myself I can last the day.

I moved a bunch of pavers, spread out an old sheet to put the dirt and mulch on so I could resue it, and started my new design. I didn't like the way it looked...it wasn't balanced. I needed to find the middle of the area. I knew there was a stump from an old tree the had been planted in the center of the area, so I went digging for it. I thought if it was down deep enough in the ground I could just plant over it. However, once I started to dig, I thought....hummm maybe I can dig the stump out with my shovel.

It took me a long time...and it was very hard work. Sweetie was out in the back working on the lawn. He was in a snippy mood, unsual for him, and we weren't "talking". I could tell he was watching me waiting for me to ask for help. He hadn't tried to dig out the stump last year cause he said it wasn't worth the work. That just fueled me more.

So there I am thinking...i'm almost 63 years old and no one would think I could do this. My body may be that old, but most of the time my mind doesn't feel it. Any several hours later I had shoveled the hole, but the stump was still in it. The hole its self was 4' in diameter and 3' deep. Sweetie came over and said...nice job but just how do you expect to remove the stump?...If you hold your arms away from your body and make a circle with them you'll get an idea how big the stump was.... Sweetie tried to remove it, but couldn't. He said....let me change my shoes, then we'll tie a rope around it and pull it out.

I sat there while he went into the house. And I thought to myself....I didn't put in all this work to have someone else finish it...so I thought about it for a moment, evaluated what I needed to do, and was able to remove the stump. About that time Sweetie came out to help and I looked at him , grinned and said I don't need your help...I removed the stump ALL BY MYSELF :D

DH's computer gave him an error message so he shut it down. Now it won't boot. Don't know why he doesn't let me see the errors before he starts hitting buttons. Now, the fact that it won't boot is my fault.

Next up is to get ready to go to the chiropractor. I'm going to try for lunch, too.

Wow! That is amazing, cowinkie. I'm curious, how did you get it out? Did you use the shovel?

The donkey video was very cute too!!

Oh, how frustrating MT.

Helia...

Since the stump was in a ball shape, roots and all, I thought maybe I could "roll" it up the side of the hole towards me. Sweetie had tried to lift the stump by leaning over and pulling it straight up...he is very strong by the way and an engineer. When I find myself in these types of situations I like to think to myself...how would I do this...whatever the task...if I was the only one around??? I'm the type of person who would like to be dropped on an island to see if I could survive...think Disney's Swiss Family Robinsons...NOT Survivors, which in fact I've never watched. However I do like to watch all the other real survivor shows and have read many stories about all types of "survivors" over my lifetime. I think the first book I ever read was called the Lion's Paw. If I remember correctly, I was in 4th grade when I read it....and the story stuck with me. Two years ago it was re-released and I bought a copy for $19. Figured if parts of the story had stuck with me for over 50 years it would be well worth reading again. I wasn't disappointed.

Off to the nursery. Figured if I've got a hole in my backyard, I might as well find a tree to plant in it..... ;)

I figure Cowinkie got Sadie the Wonder Dog to dig under, pulled a chain through, attached it to the hitch and pulled it out. But that's just a guess!

Done lunch. Looked at hymns for Lent 1 and am no farther ahead.

Still very far behind on my schedule for the day, as well.
