We slept in again today.

There is one internet addiction that the posters on a specific board actually do call an addiction. Over on the C ruise C ritic message boards for H olland A merica they have a S ailaway thread every time a H A L ship is in Port Everglades. The only requirement is speakers on your computer to listen to the ship horns being blown as they leave the channel and head out of port. One of the ships in port today is the W esterdam. Her captains (2 of them that alternate) have been known to blow the horns up to 110 times! The traditional number of honks when leaving a port is 3. The Disney ships have a tune that gets blown as they leave a port. (Check out y outube to hear them)

Hi everyone! Friday night DD11 and I went to a Wilson Phillips concert, which she enjoyed. I felt sorry for them though, because the audience seemed more enthusiastic when they sang their parents songs and some Abba songs.

Saturday was the usual cat clinic and one of our kittens is being adopted. DD and I had to run a couple of errands, one to get food for the animal org annual meeting today and another to see what I won at a car dealership. I did not win the car, but did get a gift card from Target. I also discussed cars briefly with them and found out no one is making station wagons anymore except BMW which is too expensive. It seems that everyone has gone to crossovers. I don't want a crossover, they are higher than a station wagon. I want a plain old-fashioned wagon! My car may have to last me forever now. I don't need a new car, but like to know how much to save up for when I do.

Today, all was going well this morning with DD until I told her to get her teeth brushed and shoes on for church. Fit pitched! I told her that if we did not make church, I would wait another week before putting in her Amazon order (it is using her allowance). We didn't and she spent 30 minutes on the phone denouncing me to XDH. I ignored it and eventually he calmed her down. The rest of the day went ok until she had to leave at 1230 (I am not making her go to the animal org meeting!) She knows that the only way I will put her order in is that if we make church next week. She was not happy, but at least I handled it well for a change. I feel better about things as a result.

While she was on the phone, I got Quicken updated and the accounts balanced and a load of dishes. I am going to look up where the meeting is and head off to it. On the way back, I will hit the grocery store and pharmacy, then do some cooking.

Home again. Dh has gone to pick up an elderly friend and take him to a funeral visitation - dh was going anyway and this dfriend is quite frail and wheelchair-bound. I know it is hard on his wife to have to take him everywhere.

Successful visit w dmom. Had to call to unlock her Medco account and the lady on the phone is sending a form to me to have her sign so I can call about her account if needed. On the meds front, I "audited" her meds - she is almost completely out of a BP med that she needs so I reordered that and another med online for her. There was still another that apparently she never started taking - I don't know if the script didn't get to Medco or what but she didn't realize she was supposed to be taking it. So I'll call her doc's office about that tomorrow.

Nap time! It's almost a crime to take a nap on such a gorgeous afternoon, but I am going to try nonetheless.

Hello there!!

Having a nice, relaxing day. Good coffee, fellowship, and sermon at church. Dh and I called in our order for Chinese food from the church parking lot. By the time we drove there, our food was ready for pickup. Ate at home, then had our Sunday phone calls with family. Read some by the fire. Must remember to put out trash for pickup when we go out for church tonight.

My paperwork pile is getting ridiculous. Why do I hate filing so much? I used to keep every paper in order. Must focus on that this week!!! I need a new system. If something happened to me, I doubt Dh could find anything! Maybe I should plan a trip...I always get papers in order before a trip because I hate the idea of leaving a mess for someone else.

Nancy, Sometimes if you go to Yahoo Asks or to You Tube, to ask about a tech solution to a problem like yours, you get really great instructions.

Dson does this when he's fixing his car and sometimes he gets a professional mechanic who saves him $800 by doing it himself, rather than going to a garage!

I hope you can find a solution because it's so frustrating!

ellyphant, When I get a lot of papers, files, legal pads, steno pads, spiral-bound notebooks AND my own writing, etc... because I'm a writer, sometimes I just have DH get me a tall box, I put all the papers, tablets, files, etc... into it. After that, I usually set a timer or go for as long as I can, and find homes for everything or they go to the burn trash bag.

I'm currently reading, "An Organized Writer is a Selling Writer," by Kathryn Lay and I enjoy some of her ideas, too. I think we can "drown" in paper, but baby stepping it and finding a good home for each paper helps me.

Twin's, it's so nice of your DH to take the elderly friend!

Elizabeth, the concert sounded fun.

I did s2s, wrote in my journal, did prayers, walked 1/2 hour, talked to Dson and dgd is doing well, and might get home in 8 - 10 days. I wrote a pen pal a letter. She has an adult daughter with Down's Syndrome, who competes in Special Olympics, so she's always practicing a sport, competing and starting to practice new sports. It's fun to hear what all she does. She's amazing.

A big storm is coming in, so DH is running the DW now. I decluttered cabinets and drawers in the master bathroom, got out an oval-shaped glass bowl with sea shells in it, for decoration in the bathroom, and dumped out some empty hair spray and other things not needed anymore.

DH watched the Daytona 500.

Good day so far.

My church service went well. At coffee hour everyone said that they wanted me to come back again 'soon.' They close their church over summer and the minister has used up all her holidays, so that probably won't happen, but it was nice to hear. Had a nice visit with the minister's daughter at coffee hour. I know her because she lives down the street from me! They invited us to join them at lunch but I had a meeting at my church.

Meeting went well, but wasn't home until 1:40.

Had a quick lunch and tidied the house. Our musician's dh and 2 of the boys came over. The boys played, the grown-ups toured the house. We had a floor plan to give him and answered questions about taxes, heating, etc. Now he can make a better informed decision and budget. The youngest (still 5), poked his head into the spare bedroom in the basement, saw the two twin beds set up as a king-bed and told his daddy that should be the bedroom for all three boys because the bed had three pillows! (At their house, he shares with the eldest because neither of them want a room of their own.) For him, that bedroom is the room next to the Lego, so it would be a great bedroom!

Ds is working on his resume so is calling me for advice.

It is Monday in NZ so dh is working but is taking a break for a pizza dinner tonight. Pizza and a movie - yeah!

Two hour nap in a quiet house was lovely! Going to go outside with ddogs and do some poop-scooping.

I threw the tennis ball for the ddogs and they enjoyed the sunlight...I should go ahead and walk them for the evening while it's light. Think I will water the poor fern on the front porch, then walk the ddogs...I feel like the day has slipped away from me. Still have paperwork, writing for temple bulletin (I think I had forgotten about that this morning) and more laundry/routines/cleaning up.

DH is taking up more than his share of computer time lately! He is trying to watch college baseball, college softball, and Braves spring training games... * sheesh *

Just a normal Sunday around here...

I've talked to dparents... and I'm sorta beginning to feel like we should make a trip out there during Spring Break... but dh does not want to go. His thinking is, "What can we DO? Just visit... and you "visit" with them EVERY day on the phone..." And I guess he is right. I mean -- it is approx. a 24 hour round trip. Dmom hasn't said anything. Other people keep asking me if we've been out there... so... hmmm...

Gotta go right now. BBL.

OTOH, Lucy, you may be needed more at some later time still during the school year...and it's not that long before you'll be retired and able to go whenever. Don't let anyone else's questions override what you feel you should be doing.

Beautiful day here. I don't regret anything I've done today - perhaps could have been more efficient but I feel like the beautiful weather (and doing something for dmom) have been good for me today.

Dh called and is on his way back home, I'm afraid all my momentum will go flat when he walks in.

-empty the dishwasher, which I ran this morning
-straighten up MBR
-ddog meds
-refill my meds container
