OKay I'd phone and talk to the counselor. I'm always worried about dramatic changes in a child's behaviour.

With my ds it was that school went from being easy to hard when reading was seriously introduced after Christmas when he was in Grade 1. He went from liking/loving school to being a hellion at home (he behaved fairly well at school), throwing fits the second he walked onto our property. The daycare kids would scatter from him because he was like a Tasmanian Devil, screaming, running around, crying, punching out at anyone/thing that got in his way. His dyslexia was holding him back - he knew he knew more than some of the other kids but they could do reading and he couldn't so he felt worthless.

The teacher and I had good communication, she knew the difficulties he was having and within 6 weeks had him tested and confirmed her diagnosis (such quick diagnosis is virtually unheard of in our system but I was in the school regularly, teaching recorder to the kids in grade 4 plus doing yard duty and her break period coincided when I had to get my coat from the staff room.)

Weird day here. Dh was out of bed at 6:30 and I fell asleep again, waking with a start at 8:30. We had a 10 a.m. meeting so I just dressed, ate, tidied the room and had time to refill vitamins but that was it. No light therapy, no exercise. I've had some green tea to help motivate me but am still dragging.

The meeting was quick and I've wasted the last hour and a bit. Must quickly have some lunch before heading off for choir.

((((Harriets DGS1.5)))) Poor little fella. I'm thinking he might be in extreme pain - gas bubble, ear ache, teeth coming in, growing pains....are the first things coming to mind.

Thanks for the thoughts on LO current situation. I've contacted his counselor and took her next available appt (March 6th). We are on standby if she has a cancellation before then.

He will be riding the regular school bus with 14 grades (pre-k through 12th). We have known the bus driver for over 40 years and he is a no nonsense fella that keeps complete control of kiddos in his care. His granddaughter and LO are "best buddies" and we have spent some time together chatting at recent birthday party. Even though we are confident the bus ride will be enjoyable to LO, I am still going to go to school today and physically see that LO gets on the bus and all is well. I am undecided about following the bus through its route, but I might if things don't seem 1000% okay. If I don't follow the bus, I will definitely be standing by the road when LO gets off the bus and check with the driver that all went well. It is a long bus ride (over an hour) so I'm not comfortable with LO riding the bus everyday, but am just using it as a treat to hopefully help get LO in a different frame of mind.

I have been using timer to keep me on track. 15 minutes tax prep work....15 minutes moving around doing other things. repeat. repeat. repeat.

I want to write and add pearls of wisdom but can't think of a thing that hasn't already been said.

My life is so different from yours. My day today has been taken up with hot gluing Popsicle sticks and bamboo strips to make 25 little wooden jails to go in a cactus garden centerpiece.

The only other thing was dancing on the stage at the ice cream social last night with the "Dependables" dressed in, what else, Depends (over our clothes of course). We were advertizing the vaudeville show Friday night (that is what the centerpieces are for).

Bet none of you are doing ANYTHING like that!!!

Yea the sun just came out! Yippie!!! We're back in from "recess" we've spaded up the next garden spot behind the coop, and I'm counting that for my first session of exercise. 8-) The nest boxes were busy with laying eggs in them and some waiting. So dgd could not gather eggs yet.

Girls were "working" the area we spaded up & delighted to discover the worms and slugs under boards as we were moving things around for that chore and zone work in the yard. Met the gal and new puppy over the back fence too. This is working so well we will do another corner next time we are outside.

Then  Dgd played at the neighbors teeter totter / jungle gym [with permission] so she had fun too.

[I was thinking we could start up the fire pit but not with the breeze we have out today so that will have to wait.]

We've got the cookies and pumpkin cooling that we cooked up today as well. So we've had a productive morning so far.

Good afternoon to all!

MT, I think you're having more fun than any of us!!

I'm back from errands. Hit the library, post office, thrift store (to donate) and grocery store. We're expecting snow and ice for the next 2 days. Now that I shopped, I say "Bring it on!"

Today's temps are nice...mid 40's with sunshine.

I have a plan to give as much time to my paperwork pile as I spend reading. That should fix my problem! Wish me luck...

I'm 'home' and just finished folding a LOL. It's only partially put away though. Will do that in dribbles -it's on our bed so I HAVE to put it away. ;)

DSonIL got a phone call this afternoon for a job interview in St. Petersburg tomorrow. He applied several weeks ago for this position. St. Pete is a sizable distance from here, but he's willing.

Got a downpour a few minutes ago. I've forgotten how many seconds it lasted!

Haven't even thought about supper for tonight. (Sigh) Don't really like going out there to work until dd gets home and that could be late. I'm assuming she has after-school care and then tutoring tonight. Back to her old schedule.

DH is next door helping dsonil do some painting.

Have to address an issue tonight with dd re: gd's ipod. Not looking forward to that. She sneaked it into school today for the 2nd time (that we know of) in a week. We had told dd about her sneaking it in last week and it was said then if she did it again that dd would take it. I'm hoping that happens. Although I know dd is trying very hard to keep things on an even keel right now.

Now the sun is shining.

LOL MT11 I agree - it sounds like you're having more fun than the rest of us. :)

More TaDas:
x finished enough Hebrew, I'm hoping - 36 verses are done
x scraped the slushy snow off our driveway in prep for snow shoveling/snow blowing Wed.
x checked on hens; gave them some scraps - no eggs
x got mail and paper; processed mail
x greeted dgirls as they got home
x emailed book club; so many are cancelling tonight that it looks like we will punt to 2 weeks out; just fine with me!
x am warming up the iron - to iron 2 of dh's shirts; I don't tend to iron, but these 2 look just awful

Next:
-iron shirts
-fold lol
- put lasagne casserole (leftover; was in the freezer) in the oven on low
- gather Heb books'
-take dd14 to synchro
-go to Heb class

OKay When you talk to the counsellor make sure she also knows of his recent difficulties when you were away visiting without him, his difficulties with travel, as well as the current school difficulties. I'm thinking they all may be connected. Prayers for you both as you stand fast to being firm. Prayers too the bus ride goes well.

Turned on the radio today to find many local places have had 9-12 inches of rain in less than 24hrs. Its stopped here for now.
Yesterday and last night it was continual.
Took ddog out first thing in case this is just a short interlude from rain.

Time to dress and get breakfast prepped.

Ohhhh... (((BIG BIG HUGS))) for LO and for Harriet's dgs...

I know nothing about night terrors.
Unfortunately, I know a LOT about school phobia. I cried all the way through 1st & 2nd grades. I just didn't want to leave my mother, I think. Kindergarten was fine -- half day. Then 1st & 2nd grade, with wonderful, loving, caring teachers... and I cried and cried and cried. And my stomach hurt. Somehow it stopped it 3rd grade. No one knows why.
Dmom never gave in... just put me on the bus crying and she'd walk back to the house crying.
But look at me now. All last year, I was ready to cry b/c I was facing retirement.
Now I'm thinking... 11 weeks & 4 days... happy dance, happy dance...

Just lots of (((BIG HUGS))) for all of you, OKay & Harriet, and your little ones.
