Hi, lots accomplished today

After the school run, Morning Daily Card, good breakfast, online errands, exercise, recyclables. Next up, brunch.

Hope Nancy's household feels better.

Hoping Harmony doesn't also come down with a bug.

Thinking of Emptynester and Sadie and their households.

Dee, I know this is a difficult week for you.

Glad Elizabeth is on the mend and posting.

Dgson is back to school today yea for him.
Living room has pillows stacked up blankets are folded. I'm working on more baby proofing and made progress with books pens, knitting needles, crochet hooks etc. on the side table, and puzzles on the coffee table so it's looking better.

Bed is made dishes are loaded.

We've mixed up a batch of munchies so dgd had fun enjoying some cooking time today. She helped with chicken chores too hens have been fed & watered; hens are out for range time.

Next up  sweeping up dust bunnies. More trash to toss as well.

Back from physio. Had the same stir fry from dinner last night again today because it is so good (and quick.)

My sister called as I came in the door so we had our quickie meeting to disperse funds from our charitable foundation. We started it after our mother died and give to small, community programs that fit with her interests.

Today we gave to Transforming Faces which is an group that repairs cleft palates in children overseas. My sister has a cleft palate and I know my mom would have given to this group as it sends medical teams from the hospital that operated on my sister overseas to work voluntarily on children who otherwise wouldn't have access. My mom had to travel over 1000 miles, by train (2 - 3 days each way) multiple times that first year, with a baby who couldn't take a bottle, in order to get surgery for my sister. She used to talk about the strangers on the train who would walk the baby for hours up and down the aisle so she could get some sleep, have a moment to eat, or even to go to the bathroom.

My physio appointment has left me with 3 sets of exercises (plus icing) to be done three times a day. Each round will take 25 minutes. So I'll have to build that into my day for the next while. She wanted me back on Friday but I insisted on Monday because I want time to see how well the exercises are working. I had forgotten how good the therapies feel (today I had icing, which I can do myself, and the TENS machine which I love.) I felt invincible when I left but my right knee is starting to hurt now.

In the evaluations she had be stand up from a chair without arms, rising up on only one leg. I had to think about what she was asking, and which muscles to use, but was able to do it. She said, "That hurt, right?" and I told her it didn't, much to my surprise. I had dh do it when I got home. A fun parlour trick. One the stretches I have to I barely feel. She said that's because I'm much more flexible than most of their patients. That was my goal, get in before this gets bad and strengthen what isn't working right.

A reminder for those of us overweight - each 10 pounds of extra weight translates to 40 pounds of extra strain on the knees. She didn't believe I have 25 to go to get back to healthy weight, she thought I was fine as I was, maybe 5 - 10 lbs over. That's because I carry it all below my waist.

I'm crawling out of the hole. Finally did dishes (not too many for just 2 of us) since Friday. Cleaned out under the sink and got it organized. Washed out the plastic basket that I keep all the cleaners in and threw some old ones. Emptied the garbage and washed out the plastic waste basket before I put a new liner in it.

Haven't put the clean dishes away yet - but I cleaned the top of the stove (under the burners) so it is nice and shiny again. Then gave all the stainless a polish.

Washed bedding but haven't got it out of the dryer yet.

Took DH to Internal Med Dr. yesterday. He gave him a good physical plus blood work and chest x-ray. Also a script for diuretic pill to help with the fluid in his lungs. DH is still tired and having a bit of trouble breathing - but not as bad as last week.

Well, this has set for 2 hours while we had a neighbor visit. So now we've had lunch and I'd better get back to work. I have clothes to fold and a bed to make and some sweeping and vaccuming.

Harriet, yes. But I will get through it. One day at a time -sometimes 1 hour. I know you know this kind of difficulty -as do many of you. I so wish I could be up north -IN and NY! Just not going to happen. But my dsis is not there anyway -I know that.

Does give me pause to think that dh and I really need to do that 'dreaded' task of picking out a plot so it will be done. Part of our thinking is that we need to get dd's ashes buried at some point where dgd (especially) can go visit if/when she wants to. So that rather keeps us close to where we lived. I personally would like a plot back home in central NY. Not that it really matters.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Starting in on sorting books.

Historical family books, hard but done. I allowed myself only one small box of those.

Moved onto another bookcase with books and decided my criteria would be "Can I borrow it from a library to reread?"

Then I stopped. Will there be libraries until I'm done reading?

Good afternoon! I have decided to eat at church tonight and go to Bible study. I have not done the homework for the study because I was out sick last weekend and didn't get the homework. After that, I need to pick up meds and some picture hanging nails. Tea time right now.

{{DEE}}big hugs.

OKay, bwtg on the new habits. I have lost a couple of mine. Making my life miserable without them. I don't know why it happened. One is clipping my keys on my purse strap ring as I reenter the house each time. I seem to always have too many things in my hands and have just been dropping the keys somewhere. You wouldn't believe the time I've spent looking for keys. You've inspired me to start trying again...

Kathryn, I can't get up like that from a chair either. Is anyone able to do that? It doesn't hurt, I just can't do it. I'm glad the exercises made you feel better.

MT that's a lot of work you accomplished today. Elizabeth, I hope you continue to feel better.

Today was a challenge. I have the cold DH had and am feeling poorly. Managed to get up about 10 and started in to work on my desk. I got lots of bills paid, a lot of banking work figured out. Trip out to 3 banks taking care of multiple things, and a stop at the postoffice to weigh & mail company income taxes. A bunch of church work done also, notes written to send out.

I had stuff out thawing to cook for dinner, but was too tired to do it. I made DH a frozen pizza which he ate on his way to youth group. He is much better and worked 2 days all day long. I am going to stack the dishwasher, close the blinds and go to bed, I'm bushed.

Washed up the dishes, hung a load of clothes to dry and then dh and I headed to buy cheesecloth to filter the sap. Had dinner out, also picked up some groceries and knee ice packs. The first store had nice ones for $30 each (about what they were online) so I picked those up and then went to Wally mart and got 2 for $5 each. Not near as nice, but they'll do and I'm hoping this is a temporary situation anyway.

Bought garage sale stickers which raised dh's eyebrows. The prices range from 25 cents to $3 but the breakdown is 42 at $.25, .50, .75 and 2, 62 at $1 and 21 at $3 plus 62 blank tags. I look at the bright side - if I sell everything for the posted price, I'll make $271 (and that doesn't take into consideration the blank tags.) And I'll be rid of 251 items that I don't have to worry about donating somewhere.

We'll see how this goes. My plan is to try and sell any valuable stuff online but I'd like to have a room set up selling things, so that when people come to pick up the big things, they can glance through the rest of what I have for sale.

Dear aunt of the daily aprons called, worried. She hadn't been able to get my uncle and aunt, who live not far from me, to answer their phone all evening, and that dear aunt97, who is almost blind, really does not leave the house. So dd14 and I drove over there, and happily it was just a disconnected phone, they'd been there safe and sound all along. What a pleasant visit. Dear aunt97 sang "Amazing Grace" for us so sweetly. Dear uncle, my ddad's youngest brother, is several years younger than his wife, and quite competent - they are blessed to be able to stay at home with only a daytime maid/caregiver to give them help a few hours.

Harmony, I knew you were wondering if the bug was going to strike you - so sorry, and I hope it's over quick!

Glad some of the sickness is lifting from your house, Nancy.

Kathryn, an interesting physical challenge from the dr. The charity sounds like it does such good work.
