Morning y'all...

It is cold, 55*...rainy and windy...gusts 40-50 mph and dark, dark, dark....Sweetie went to take a shower when there was a huge bolt of lightning and a window shaking clap of thunder. That delay his plans a bit. I've been up, done the usual things and am now getting ready to work on the house. It needs it.

Every once in a while everything becomes scattered and spread out in my house. In the past this happened when it was time for my period. I've read many articules about how those particular hormones interface with a womans abilities to focus. I'm way past those days now, but occasionally still have time periods when this odd behavior occurs. Though I can't bless my house without my belf for the vacuum, I will still work my areas the same way. Think there's probably 2 hours work to do.

I've been off schedule because of my up-coming Colorado rafting trip. I've needed camping gear...head lamps, camp soap, things like that ...and have had to make several different store runs. Plus I was invited to hike to the top of the Superstition Mts next week with a group of people. Its a hike I've always dreamed of doing. However it is a very tough one...elevation climbs quickly. So I've started training for it so I don't make a fool of myself. Theres a small "mountain" near my house that is 3/4 of a mile round trip and climbs 300 ft in elevation. Many people run it...geese one woman I met runs it 8 times each day. I could barely make it to the top the first time I walked it. Then I increased to 3 times a day. Yesterday I added a camel pack...a pack that holds your water on your back...because I know I will needed when I make my big hike.

My first goal was to make it to the first level of the mountain without stopping. I did that yesterday even though I was carrying my pack...and then I did it two more times. Time to and from home is 2.5 hours. Theres been much adjusting of equipment and such as I learn what I need to do. Think I have everything down now and will focus on my time.

The time dedicated to this training has thrown off what I usually do in my house. I will be thinking about it while I work here today.

There will be many in the group that will not make it to the top and I may be one of them....so I don't feel any pressure it I don't. However I'm going to do the best I can. We'll see.......

That is interesting, Cowinkie.

I'm still in my PJ's. Still can't get warm. I slept under 4 layers last night.

Took care of a couple checks today, payroll, other stuff and I sent out a big email that was supposed to be received today.

I think I'll go back to bed for a while. This cold is a doosey.

Harmony...does drinking hot tea help??? I know it does for me. Sometimes I get so cold I have to stand in a hot shower or tub to get warm. I hate when that happens.

Its teaming rain around here...every once in a while the clouds break and I can see blue skies and sun. May have to cancel the hike next week...checked the highs and its suppose to hit 90*. Way too hot for me to be exerting that much energy. On the other hand, my rafting trip is April 4-6. Temps are projected to be high 60* and lows in the 20* and they want me to be prepared to swim  I don't think so. Need to rethink the clothes I'll be wearing.

Breaks over......back to work.

I'm coming down with something. Overwhelming exhaustion at the moment but the sore throat and chesty feeling aren't there right now. Just remembered I took advil about 80 minutes ago, so that's probably the explanation.

Made up some chicken soup for lunch. Dh saw me making soup and said, "Making beef vegetable soup?" and I said it was chicken. "You like chicken soup?" Well, not as much as beef when we are talking professionally made but I like my pathetic chicken soup better than my pathetic beef soup! And it tasted ok to me and felt good (another reason my throat might be feeling better.)

The sun is shining and the temp is above freezing so my next challenge is to clean up the kitchen so dh can start boiling the sap.

I'm setting a timer. See you in about 15!

Quick check in. Got the dishes done in 15. Still working on the last 1/3 of the counters but dh has started filtering the sap so I'm also finding things that he needs (like a coffee filter.)

Peeking in. . .my house has been invaded by a bunch of teenage girls. Dd17's small group is meeting here.

My day:
x teaching team meeting
/ part of a.m. routine - still need to make my bed and start laundry. I may change sheets on the bed first. .
x finished North and South (based on book by Elizabeth Gaskell)
x figured out how to create an ACT account for dd17 who already wants to retake the ACT. She just took the exam for the 1st time 3 days ago. She also needs to take the SAT - I haven't looked into that yet. . .
x chatted a bit with dd14 who took the (city) bus home today b/c dd17 came home earlier due to her small group.

Ramblings: It sounds like dd14's audition today went very well. At least the band director said he was very impressed. She auditioned for the highest band (of 3); I doubt she'll make it b/c only one oboist is graduating this year, leaving only one spot in the highest band, and there are 2 kids in mid-level band right now. If she did audition better than they did (auditions are recorded for later perusal), he still would prefer them b/c of the marching required in the highest band and the experience they've already gotten under their belt marching in the mid-level band. Dd14 has not yet marched as the lowest band doesn't do that here.

I'm excited for your hiking trip, Cowinkie! That looks like a good climb!

It is one GORGEOUS day here! Blue skies, sunshine, in the 40s. Spring is definitely coming!

Two of dd17's paintings are on display at a downtown Pub/Restaurant so we are planning to go eat there tonight. :)

(((Harmony, Kathryn & other SHE's not feeling well)))) Sending you homemade virtual piping hot chicken soup.

The worst of the tooth crown work is done. Half of my face is still numb and my body muscles are tense from them drilling/grinding. I'm glad to have that over with. Now I just go back in 2 weeks to exchange the temporary crown for the permanent one. Waving good-bye to $804.

Helia - POTB to your DD14. Regardless of the outcome.....I think she did good. :)

Rain, rain, rain. Chilly and damp. Gloomy and can't see the mountains. So I made an apple pie. YUM-O!!!!

Never did get the chicken soup started so it will be pizza tonight. I'll do the soup tomorrow as it is supposed to be yucky then, too.

We had a few boomers here with a flash of lightening right outside our house. I think it hit our neighbor's flagpole.

Time to get moving. Why, or why did I do so well yesterday and can't motivate myself today.

I'm setting the timer for 15 and cleaning off my desk.!!!

While digging out mason jars to put the finished syrup into I found three more items to go in the toss pile so took those down to the basement, then got to work on the tv room down there. Talked on the phone with my music friend (who is now home from Toronto, her surgeon let her come home early.)

Found the foam ring that attached the heart rate monitor to a bike. It was in with the recording mike and old fashioned rabbit ear antennas! No wonder I couldn't find it when I searched for it a month ago!
