Friday Conga

I love that conga friday means a good attitude. I need a good attitude as I take care of my home, which in turn will take care of my family.

yesterday I scrapped the walls of the stairs going up. today I need to clean my home for the weekend.
today dd has guitar.

Just composed an answering email to my son who decided to scold me on FB for not calling yesterday when DH went to the ER but instead I notified family in a private FB notice. SHEESH!!! I was a little busy getting things ready to go to the ER. At least I let him know. Next time I'll let him swing in the breeze when things are happening around here.

DH still in bed so I don't know about his hip. It still hurt when he came to bed last night. We have an appointment with the Dr. next Tuesday at 4.

Today, I need to get moving on the stuff I was supposed to do yesterday plus I need to do a trip to the grocery store.

First up is breakfast and meds and then jump in the shower. DH is still sleeping so I'm going to read a while first as I think he needs his rest. My day can just start a bit later.

Yesterday I had longer granny duty the 9 mo. old BabyN's granny had surgery so I'll have her longer today as well and as the other granny recoups only 2 days a week. She plays well with the grands as they knew each other before!
I spiffed the floors last night.

Nice weather here. Chicken & chick chores are done.
Dryer is going.
Will have dgson in the a.m. and dgd in the p.m. today as well.

Glad there was nothing too serious with the trip to the ER, ((MT and Mr. MT)). I sure hope his hip feels better soon. My ddad has some hip issues too.

I'm behind - I can't keep up with you ladies. I can't believe it is already 1 pm! I need to start moving a little more quickly here. . . 4 hours before I leave.

(Guess what dd17 is reading in English right now. LOL!) --I won't worry about that now. Nor, will I get myself to a nunnery. . . . . Sorry, I'm waxing a bit odd right now. . .

Hi there!

I haven't been home much this week so I am thrilled to have a quiet day at home today. I've been puttering (a word I adopted from our dear Indi) & doing lots of mini jobs today. I just spent half an hour working in the basement as I am trying to work more faithfully in Zones this year. Third week is Attic/Basement/Laundry Room for me. It is cold in all those areas so I am warming up here with a cup of tea.

MT, I'm sorry your dh needed a trip to the ER yesterday. Hope he is OK today.

I've posted in J&C regarding GD if anyone wishes to read.

Just got home from morning run -after going to see dsisil. Have to leave in 1 hour to pick up gd from school -take her to dd's school to spend the night -through Sunday with dd's friend and her daughters.

Now have to plan for dbil/dsil's 50th anniversary party next Saturday. We were going to take them out but they wanted to do something at their house. Will be fine with us.

Tomorrow have a 'meet & greet' with the pastor candidating at our church. Hear him on Sunday and then vote on whether to call him. Spent the morning doing Sunday's bulletin.

Think I'll take a little rest before it's time to run again. But tomorrow I can sleep in.

I so enjoy reading what each of you are doing and the various interest and opinions.

After meeting/interviewing 4 financial advisories this week, we selected one this morning. We are switching to a different brokerage firm so it requires more paperwork and decisions. Today is our financial fella's last day.....so we were down to mere hours to get it done. There is still some transferring paperwork to sign but hopefully the most time consuming part is over. ***VBSigh****

Putting that project behind us and moving onward to the next one. Next week is spring break and we have hired someone to work at MPB so we can get away. Only problem is.....where are we getting away to??? I just spent 15 minutes looking for some events to attend within 400 miles but haven't found anything that appeals to me........yet.

I find myself wondering.....What's the deal about eating @ IKEA? I've been shopping @ IKEA a few times but have never ate there. Guess I'd better give it a try the next time.

OKay What's the big deal about eating at IKEA? Well it depends on the person. For me, the meatballs remind me of Scandinavia (although there they are served with boiled potatoes, not fries.)

The food is mostly precooked, then frozen and heated there, so nothing is worth a special trip compared to a real restaurant.

On the other hand, my meal there is under $6.77 including tax for meatballs, steamed veggies, fresh salad and a drink (I sub the veggies for the fries.) That is cheaper than McD, or Subway and is tied with Tim Hortons. And I get more food, and healthier food.

Ds knows when the specials are on and eats there for even less sometimes. Oh, and their breakfasts are cheaper than any greasy-spoon.

For families with young children, they have free baby food, have microwaves set up where you can heat up bottles and food you've brought from home, and have a play area.

For adults just out for a coffee, I get free coffee or tea with my IKEA family membership (free.) And a different dessert each month is only 1.99.

So I'm guessing most people go for the price, but I go for the atmosphere as well since I always miss Scandinavia.

DOVE, I like those Downton Abbey links! Will have to share those with daughter. She loves that show, too.

OKAY, I like Ikea meatballs with mashed potatoes and the little dollop of lingonberries that are like cranberry sauce. They also have beautiful salads and gorgeous desserts. Also love the lingonberry soda! We always had fun going through the store getting decorating ideas. Never bought anything large as we didn't have a truck and their delivery prices seemed too high.

I have been hemming curtain panels this afternoon and being thankful for my 7th grade home ec teacher, who taught me the one hemming stitch I use on everything! Thank you, Mrs. Archer...wherever you are!
