~~~waving Hi to all~~~~
MT - Rant away! :) Men. :roll:
LucyLee - has anything changed with rubber tree? Less humidity in the air? Maybe check for bugs hiding under leaves? Someone dumping liquids into it the pot? :roll: Okay ....that would only happen in my home.
We are having beautiful weather. Sunny, gentle breeze, mid 80's. Very nice.
This morning LO asked if he could sweep the living room. :D
I got him started with the vacuum
Then he asked if he could sweep underneath the furniture! :o
So I mentored and monitored while he rearranged the living room furniture....stopping to sweep underneath each piece.
Each time I offered to help, he declined. He wanted to do it himself. I did help him one time (pushing this couch that has double recliners which makes it heavy).
>>>.shaking my head<<<<< He is 4 years old. WOW
I have 15 minutes to kick up my heels before taking LO to DNephew6 Birthday party.
Happy Saturday, Villagers! :D
I have my green clothes out for tomorrow. DH is cooking a corned beef in the electric pressure cooker in 2 cups apple cider. I believe he cooks it for 1 hour. The apple cider makes the meat very flavorful! :D He's a great cook!
Emptynester, Sorry about the walker not getting used as it should. Men are odd, sometimes. :roll: I live with one, too! :lol: I can't understand why men aren't more proactive with their healthcare like a lot more women are. :?: I can't figure that one out. Maybe they don't want to be viewed as a sissy or as less manly than they are. We just want them healthy and without pain. :idea:
Oh, Ellyphant! :!: They painted OVER the stickers????? :roll: That will be harder to remove, but I guess a putty knife might work, too. :idea: I just don't know for sure. But it sounds like your hand would have a handle and cramp less than with a razor blade, IF a putty knife works.
Nancy, You sound very busy! Have fun doing Granny duty and making Shamrock cookies, too.
Lucylee, I wonder why the rubber plant's losing leaves? Did you move it lately? Is the weather near it changed at all? :?: I guess you could Google it. Maybe it's the change of season?
Dee, That video sounds so precious from the TSA students. She was so touched. How wonderful they did all this for her! :D
Kathryn, It's a struggle day for me, too, but I'm managing between the "eyes thing" and now a new cold.
What are your physio exercises like? :?:
Sadie, I agree with you! The Village is quiet! :!:
Also, it's a work day for me, too. But I can work on and off in baby steps and not at one solid chunk of time. :)
Glad you got to chat with one of your cousins and now she has your number. It's nice to keep in touch.
Lynlee, Thank you for the opening quotes today! :D
Blessed, The nightmare of sheets down the toilet is awful scary! Not kidding either! :shock:
Have a Wonderful Weekend, Everybody! :D
I totally understand not touching any of the cards d kathryn - I dislike when that happens.
lol yes Ivy - it was terrifying (lol) I kept trying to grab my laundry from going down the drain in that nightmare. I also was looking at piles and piles of laundry in that same series of dreams (where I was responsible for caring for another family's laundry as well... mmmm my brain is trying to say... GET the Laundry DONE or it builds.)
French was cancelled. I did go to the butcher for tonights dinner.
dd younger is learning to play ave maria for a program. So it is fun hearing her play.
I have been listening to mumford and sons and need to focus.
ta ta all.. have a great afternoon
it is always a joy to be here with you!
Hey everyone!
All done...stickers are gone! Thanks, IVY, for that suggestion, but I have a little holder for the razor blade. There must have been 500 tiny little star stickers...and I forgot to mention the asteroid stickers that started to look like jellyfish or a tooth with long roots, the more I studied them up close! :lol: Luckily, I had already removed about one third of the stickers months ago, before giving up. But today was the day that little task was accomplished! Ceiling will be painted when we paint that room. The shapes are still visible since the paint color under them is whiter than the latest ceiling color. :roll:
Made tea. Need to unload dw and pay a few bills. Should file some papers so that area doesn't get out of control again!
BLESSED, that was a nightmare! I had a dream once when we were overrun with cucumbers in our garden. We ate them, pickled them, gave them away, and still they were chasing me in my dream!
Back from lunch and errands. Did a major grocery shop for the first time in weeks (usually I just get 3 - 4 items but we were out of enough staples I had to stock up.)
Groceries are put away, dinner meat is defrosting, weekly kitchen chores are done (they were sort of not-done last week due to the sap boiling - no point in doing them if I knew the kitchen was going to be made sticky right after.) No sap is running now and probably won't until mid-week so the kitchen will stay clean for a few days. Dh took the little sap we had over to his friend's house last night and made sap tea for them (regular tea made with sap instead of water.) He said it was a big hit with them. In North Korea, they tap maples but don't make syrup - it is a spring ritual to drink the sap in order to replace energy lost over the long winter.
Ivy: I have 5 exercises I'm supposed to do. One is the exercise bike for 5 minutes, high rpms, low resistance. That I can do just once a day. The rest are to be three times a day but at best I get them in twice:
1. Calf muscle stretches (sitting on floor, use a rope around my upper foot to pull the foot back towards me and stretch the muscle.) 6 sets x 20 second holds.
2. Hamstring stretches (lie on back, raise my straightened leg up to 90 degrees from floor, pulling back towards me to stretch the hamstring.) 6 sets x 20 second holds.
3. ITB stretch (standing near a wall, turn foot nearest wall to 45 degrees and then lean into the wall.) 6 sets x 20 second holds.
4. Quad strengthening. On my back, bend one knee, point toes of other leg back towards me, push my knee down to the floor then straight lift the leg about 3" and hold for 5 seconds. 3 sets of 5 - 10 of these.
Either before or during the first exercises, ice my knees for 10 minutes.
If I ice concurrently, I can do each set of physio in about 30 minutes. So that's why they are only happening 2x per day, not three. I just don't have that much extra time. Unfortunately, the introduction of the quad exercises (bike and lifts) have started the knees hurting again and the other exercises, which relieved the pain before, aren't helping to relieve the pain now. At the physiotherapist's there's a muscle stimulator that is supposed to build the quad and that might be adding to the increase in pain. I get the TENS relaxer after but that only lasts a few hours before my knees bother me again.
On the plus side, bending is a lot easier, I can touch my toes and I notice it is easier to wash my feet in the shower.
Dinner was tasty (dh cooked and cleaned up for some reason, although cleanup was easy since the dishwasher was to run tonight.)
Dishwasher has run, I've vacuumed and mopped the bedroom level and mopped the kitchen floor. So most of the weekly chores have been done this week. Yay!
Next challenge is to do a round a physio so I can get to bed early.
Goodnight all!
Good morning, Lynlee!
Just came by to say hello and catch up here.
Dee, I'm happy for your good news.
MT, sigh....too bad your DH has this on top of recent scare.
Why do bad things come in bunches?
I am still not feeling well. The skin on my face feels like I am windburned. I don't know if that's my poor allergic skin problems, or something to do with this flu I had or what. My eyes are very very sore. Sticky. Stiff, red eyelids etc. Today I started using artificial tears to wash out. They burn. They feel gritty like when I don't sleep for days.
I thought maybe I was getting dehydrated so I began pushing more fluids, but that hasn't seemed to help.
I'd heard this bug takes 3 weeks to get better. I am counting the days.
And I must have slept wrong or something and my right shoulder, up under my armpit is very very sore. We're having a cold spell here and it's chilly.
Well, after all that good news, I think I'm off to bed.
Hello, villagers ~
3-day sewing retreat is over. I had fun but it was also a lot of work, so I'm glad it's over and tomorrow I can rest.
Dee ~ So glad that you received good news for gd.
Sadie ~ I'm sorry for the loss of your dear Aunt Betty, and glad that you were able to travel to have a good long visit with her before she died.
Harmony, Your eyes sound like mine did when they first started out. I hope you don't have what I've got, which is Blepharo-Conjunctivitis. It's a highly contagious bacterial eye infection, which involves the whites of the eyes, upper and lower eyelids. I saw the ophthalmologist on Mar. 7, his nurse said I have a "compromised immune system". I have Fibromyalgia and IBS, which is chronic and can cause the immunity system to do this. I use an antibiotic ointment in my eyes 3 times daily and can't be out and about around others, or around kids or babies, and I have 6 weeks to wait in "confinement" until I see the ophthalmologist again. :roll: Am hoping to be non-contagious when I see him.
I made a "mind map" with the yellow square rectangle with the title, "6 Weeks!" On the right-hand of the bristol board, I drew 6 yellow squares, dated each Thurs. between Mar. 7 through April 25, which are 6 weeks. I'll cross each week off as I go! :idea: :lol: I put on pamper things to do, things to relax, such as reading, writing, doing letters, crochet, and it's hanging on my office wall, so I can look at it to motivate me.
I got a cold, probably picked up at the eye clinic now. DH is going out on Mon. to see if he can find me some liquid vitamins, because I used to take them and my hair started growing in new, etc... And I felt real good, but then Costco stopped carrying them. :( We don't want to order on-line because of extra S/H, so DH will look locally. There are plenty of places to look.
Booksaver, Did you sew quilts for the 3-day retreat? Did you sew for a charity? :?:
Kathryn, Your physio exercises sound hard and painful, but it's good you can bend over and touch your toes now. :)
Ellyphant, I'm so glad the stickers are gone! :!: :D
Blessed, I had a nightmare this morning, too. :o DH and I are in real-life, awaiting for our bank statement to come in, to see what my employer deposited into our bank account from my writing. It changes each month because sometimes I get less publishes; sometimes more. In my nightmare, we opened the envelope, looked and it said I got $25!!!!! :shock: They don't even have ANY features OR stories where they pay that low, so it WAS a nightmare to realize a huge mistake had been made! :oops: I woke up shocked because I knew I'd have to email the accountant to get it all straightened out. It was awful. I was so tired, too, but up at 7:45 a.m. feeling surprised and had this cold, too. :roll:
OKay! Wow! LO was really productive today! He's 4 and wants to clean? He'll make some woman a great husband at this rate! She'll be very happy! :!:
Have a great evening, Everyone! :D
