Nony at http://www.ASlobComesClean.com is doing a series this week on a whole-house clean-up. Her daughter is having a birthday party on Saturday.

The party was originally going to be delayed until summer for a pool party, but the daughter suddenly decided she wanted it to be this Saturday on her actual birthday.

Nony is in a slight panic trying to get ready in time. I always love her photos because they are realistic and she is honest about the decluttering and cleaning process.

It's actually my dear uncle who has the procedure today and dear aunt who is waiting, worried, at home. I made an earlier trip to hospital this morning and was able to see the doctor again. My uncle is trying to write his questions on a clipboard and that is time consuming and frustrating for all. But his alertness is encouraging to the doctor, who says the more alert and attentive he is the better he may come through the day. I just hope he doesn't wear himself out trying to communicate. I'll need to go back over there at noon.

Had two rather dismaying conversations with his sister and his wife's second caregiver today. Kinda disappointed in misconceptions and agendas. But I need to stay focused on the biggest deadlines.

Tomorrow is my ddad's bday, so I'm also trying to find out about some visits that might be nice. I hate to nag people, because we wouldn't be able to have a "party" and scheduling a particular time isn't going to work, the way things are, but I'd like to have cake and ice cream with some visitor. First come, first served people. The rest can slice off the cake later. Today he is having a very late day after a bad night.

It is dd14's week out of school - what a disappointment in terms of doing things with friends, with help from me in most any way at all. She is "on call".

BookSaver, quilt blocks for the county fair - that sounds so nice. I'll have to check Nony's day out.

Harriet ~ Any chance that your DDad will be receiving a bunch of cards in the mail for his birthday? They would be comforting, tangible evidence to combat any hurt feelings if he is unfortunate enough to be confused later in the day or week, thinking that no one else remembered such an important birthday.

Since I have never been in 4H or associated with a county fair anywhere, haven't even attended one in over 30 years, I was interested to hear just how much they still do. (Thinking about that old movie musical, State Fair.) Apparently this is the 5th year they have done a quilt block contest, but it's the first year I've heard about it. They sell a kit for $5 that includes the specific fabrics and rules, one of which is that the block can only contain the fabrics from the kit.

After the contest, all of the blocks are given to someone on the committee to be combined into a quilt that is raffled the next year to raise money for the fair. Leftover blocks are used for pillows and such which are also sold. They are raising the money to build a permanent building on the fair grounds.

It sounds like a fun project, but we are hearing about it too late to participate. She was going to come tell us about it last month, but we had to cancel our meeting because of a bad winter storm. By now they have already sold all of their kits. She encouraged everyone to submit other projects to show at the fair, and now we're on her list for getting the info next year.

Bookie - I'm so glad to hear the interest in your county fair. I love attending the local fairs and seeing the hard work and talent recognized.

Greetings Villagers! I really must get more consistent on checking in. I feel so much more grounded when I hold myself to some accountability.

Today is shaping up to be a patchwork kind of day. Meaning, a liitle of this, a little of that. I just cant seem to get a plan going that I can stick to lately. Part of that probably is because I am making myself as available as possible for DD until she gets thru this dilema she is going thru. Things still arent settled, but I am pretty sure the wedding wont take place on June 7th as planned. Possibly later in the summer at best. Now that I have said that, watch...they will iron everything out and I will have to scramble like a mad woman to recover the plans.

She and I have wanted all week to have a 'girls day' out. I think we are going to do that tomorrow. We are taking a long long drive to visit an iconic five and dime store. Then maybe lunch and a movie. We will have to get going rather early (for us, while on school breaks) to get as much in as we can. She is off to the dentist right now and said she will help me around the house when she gets back so as we can free me up for tomorrow. I am hoping she sticks to that plan.

BookSaver, your sewing group meeting last night sounded like a lot of creativity and talent was displayed. My dmil had bought fabric to make both of my dds a quilt, before she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died 2 months later. She had a quilt square started of dd1s. Next month she will be gone 22 years. I have the fabric. Recently dd1 told me she was thinking of getting into quilting. I told her that I have the fabric and she was so excited. She said if she does it, she will do her first quilt with that fabric. Also, thank you for the link to Nonys website.

Dee - I'm glad the mystery was solved and the new PC is able to access this site. DGS16 was recently grumbling about his struggle to get around in Windows 8, so I told him to just click the tile that said "Desktop" and he would be taken to his "normal" Windows environment. That little tid-bit brought him much stress relief.

DParents Important papers organized and labeled. I found paperwork on another life insurance policy that I don't remember anyone mentioning. Once DMom receives the death certificates I will follow up on that.

DH called from financial advisory office with a request for more paperwork. ***VBSigh*** DH is trying to do this on his own since I'm handling other things, but I'm not sure it is saving me any time. I appreciate his efforts anyway.

Yes the desktop does come up, Okay. Just have to get more programs loaded there. Could possibly have "w o r d 10" on when the puter comes home. That would be nice.

Afternoon was going well until gd decided she wanted my phone to call someone Said Mom said she could. Really!?!? Mom didn't tell me. So she's angrily waiting for dd to text me back. Pretty sure that won't happen.
