Count me also with the skin problems. I'm glad I'm down here. Even with the humidity I have dry skin, in the winter, which is much higher here than colder places, it gets worse. I don't think I could ever live in the desert. I have a different problem, though, it is another type of dermatitis, called dyshidrosis, where one gets little blister-like things and then the peeling, etc. That takes special medicines and sometimes a cortisone-type shot.
Well, that was depressing to write all that.
It's a little grey here today. I'm feeling grey too, though I know it's not in response to the weather.
I've been reconciling bank accounts, and discover a couple problems I must call about Monday when I can get a person. Insurance automatic bank deduction was taken out wrong, at the new higher amount. I'd faxed a paper changing our policy to remain at the old amount and they didn't fix the amount in their paperwork, even though we received new cards and new policy. Yep, again, people not doing their jobs.
I've been sleeping a lot. I think my thyroid med isn't working or something. I can't think of any other reason.

I think I am in love - - - with a new cream for dry skin. Udderly Beautiful - find it right next to the Bag Balm in Wally world or the Wall*** drugstore. My legs were itching last night and I slathered some on - they didn't even itch after the shower this am. At night I put the script meds on and then some cotton clothes as it is pretty greasy. But I'm already seeing a difference.
Yeah, I know the desert is the problem. It started 7 years ago when we spent our first winter here - but went away in the summer for the first few years. After that it was all year long and worse in the winter. Back, butt, legs all have spots that really itch. Other dermatologist just froze them - that made them spread. This stuff is working so far.
Used up two bags of marshmallows and 2 partial boxes of Krispies and made bars for church. Now to finish cleaning the kitchen.
I also have to call to extend my XM in the car - but the gal I got yesterday was such a ding bat that I told her I would call back. She wouldn't transfer me up to supervisor, either.
DH was able to fix the tail gate latch on the pickup that broke during the cold spell. It was just plastic and between sitting in the sun for a lot of summers and the cold, it just snapped. Good to go for a few more years.
Time to hit the kitchen. TTFN

"Well, that was depressing to write all that....."
Wll Dharmony thanks so much for my laugh. Your comment really tickled me.
MT...I've seen the Utter stuff on the shelf. Never used it, from what I was told way back, the cream has some ingredients that were originally used on cows used for milking....Seems milk maids...are they really still around??...had very soft hands.
Taking a break from this paper monster...I'm beating it back but its been very slow. If I give up it will still be waiting for me later...urrrgh.

It's been a nice enough day here. At the baby shower I sat next to a neighbor who is close to my age and was glad to see her there - didn't know if I would know anyone except the mama to be but a couple of neighbors were there. One of the neighbors I think is pregnant but I didn't want to ask. I recall the tongue in cheek rule that you shouldn't ask if a woman is pregnant unless you see a baby emerging...
Took a very scenic route to dMom's and visited and went through her meds....another that she ran out of and didn't refill. (I found that in Feb also.) And in looking at her prescription history online, I suspect she's not remembering to take them some of the time.
Back home at 4 p.m. and took a nap. Dh is out and house quiet. We have a 7 p.m. dinner reservation at a nice place for dinner. We may or may not go to an event at the JCC at 9:30. (Held an hour after sunset so conservative rabbi can attend.)
I need to walk ddogs and do some straightening up here.
-kitchen counters and table
-fold lol
-make the bed
-check for mail?
-trim rug pad in laundry room that has been sticking out from under the rug for several days.
I have very dry skin also. I can live with moisturizing legs after shaving in the summer, but in winter I need to moisturize legs constantly or live with itching. My dermatologist recommended CeraVe moisturizing lotion - not the kind with the added acid salicylic acid.

Had a good day with DGS15. We spent 7 hours doing all his favorite things. DGS17 and I are getting together on Monday to celebrate his birthday. He is moving out of xDSIL home tomorrow (on his 18th birthday) so I'll pick DGS18 up at his new place on Monday and spent time doing his choices.
In effort to not be deceitful, I'm telling that my family is having some drama. I recently told here how well everyone is pulling together and getting things done. However, it seems we have hit a low point. I don't want to give the false impression that we always get along perfectly and never have problems. I suspect the drama is grief based, but it's not much fun whatever the reason for it. I'm trying my hardest to let it blow over and to not respond (it takes two to fight). DH is on his last bit of restraint. It is not his nature to remain quiet and be passive while I'm being falsely attacked (verbally). I have not talked about the drama to anyone so imagine my surprise when I received two phone calls from DSon/DDIL this afternoon. They called me to find out WHAT IS GOING ON? UCK. family drama is a no win situation. Everyone is a loser.
I'm ready for some down time. It is 5 o'clock here so I'm casting my cares away and going to have a satisfying Sabbath.

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a good 420. I celebrated by giving the cats at the adoption clinic catnip. I am on the 'net so I can get info from my bank (can't remember what my payroll deposit was), get directions to an indoor trampoline place for a birthday party, and may even do some research for my database project. DD11 is coming an hour early so I can feed her before the party. I will throw a LOL in the washer before we leave and hang it when we get back. Only a few more days till I can crochet again.
I am joining cowinkie in listening to music, but not easy listening. Time for punk.

I've been spending time on the phone with my music friend today. Her dad was delirious from an infection, was put in the hospital but now it seems his dementia is permanently worse and he's fine one moment, physically spent another and violent later again. So it has been a rough day since yesterday he was his old self, talking about the hockey game from the previous night and the goings on in Boston. Today he couldn't talk, walk, feed himself, or even sit up so her mom found him slumped over the tray of the wheelchair. Later he perked up. At dinner, he attacked her mom (the first time he's attacked her although he has attacked the hospital staff.)
She has a lot of grieving to work through. It is hard to say goodbye to a parent and worse still when they are physically still present, but mentally gone. They are rough calls for me because I've been through it.
After that, I filed the taxes.
Iced my knees before dinner so I might skip that and just head to bed. Early and long day tomorrow (4 hour drive in total.) I've been looking forward to this all week.

LisaB ! So nice to see you - hope you can get back and post with us some.
((OKay))
So sorry to hear your music friend's family has had hard news, Kathryn.
Yes, I know several folks who recommend Bag Balm, of course - used to be many dairies here - and I think there's yet another product with Udder in the name. Will look to see if the one Emptynester likes is also available here. So good that the dr knew this would be what would help.
((Harmony)) for wondering about sleepiness. That's right - you had a lingering mystery of a rash, too, and I'm so glad you got answers, too.
We had a great time at the Highland Games. I guess my happiest moment was to come up behind my TWO daughters 10 or more feet apart at the edge of the field, and find them both using phones to record videos of the Massed Bands performance of Scotland the Brave. Sigh. I have done something right.
Thought of our Canadian villagers during the singing of O Canada. DangerBoy won his division of the Hammer Toss and came in 2nd on the stone throw. We saw the professional sheaf toss and an archery competition.
A border collie let the sheep get past him and ended up chasing them through the Highland Dance competition (line of female dancers on an indoor stage) to many whoops and shrieks. A loud announcement over the dance PA system, "And the sheep have won that judging," to laughter. Others enjoyed some really attractive Haggis upside-down pies - I wasn't able to stand in the line long enough, grabbing a fish meal to share with little britches under an oak tree. Good decisions, I think, on mementos. Dd33 and dsonil chose tee shirts that commemorated this year's event and dd14 and her friend chose trinity knot rings. We didn't buy for the boys, as they lost interest in one idea and didn't have much selection in another. Will try online.
Ran into a dear 2nd cousin up from Georgia, another 3rd ? cousin from a different direction with her twin children. They are both back from recent Scotland trips and had stories to tell for sure.
My ddad inexplicably had a very bad day today. Strange, since he didn't even see our big family group before he awakened - we were already gone. We knew HRH was concerned, though, since we phoned, but assumed by the time we got home things would change. But ddad had never rested and it was only worse by the time we got back - sleeplessness and confusion lasted without sleep until 6 p.m., although his mood was good, enjoying the company. We all felt so bad that HRH had been left alone with so much responsibility all day. HRH retreated upstairs not long after I got back.
