(((Blessed))) for me collage graduations are very long around here and some of our family do not do well sitting or dealing with crowds.

Dson called last night to set up a time for mom's day bbq at his house the week after Mother's day with sil's parents we get along with them and it sounds like fun.

Lovely day here H. had to be at work by five I got up at 5 ish after he left.
I watered the new sod when I was out doing the chicken chores. 51*-86* today's forecast temp. range. I have the morning stuff well under way.

BabyN. has not arrived yet maybe a change in schedule or plans.
Dgd will arrive shortly.

((blessed)) Wish I could make it better. I like Lilac's idea of letting her know how dd2 feels about it; maybe that is indirect enough (not dd1's or your reaction) to make it a little easier for her to hear. Or, maybe she is the sort of person who needs things said directly. Maybe it is a kindness to let her know how her actions on this are affecting your girls? I too am lacking understanding in this.

My parents did not come to ds' high school graduation, but they did come to his graduation party, which was probably better for them. The high school graduation was in a huge Univ. arena and the parents and guests sat up high in balconies, far above the floor where the kids were seated. We couldn't even see ds very well. My parents, esp. my mom, do not do well with crowds, so it was probably best they weren't there. (Thinking of nancy's comment.) AND, probably significant, ds didn't care if they were there or not. Neither did the girls. Dh himself has actually joked about skipping the girls' high school graduation ceremonies b/c of the crowds and inability to see well, etc. He won't skip, though, especially if it is important to the girls.

Not much progress here. Tree guy came and dh took him around the property to show him the work to be done. He gave us an estimate. I have managed to shower and empty the dw. I also got an email out, checking w/ moms group child care coordinator re: names of the teachers/helpers so I can have thank you cards out to be signed by the moms this coming Thursday.

Maia is being a livewire this morning, playing constantly and demanding attention -- not napping, as she usually does. At least Pepper has been playing with her a fair bit. I hope she crashes at some point; I can't spend all day on puppy duty. :?

I don't remember your dmother's age and certainly don't know the extent of the surgery, but I would think that after 13 (?) days she should have the okay from the dentist to attend a graduation. If not that, then she should certainly have the okay to attend a family gathering after the graduation. I remember my poor dmother at 93 was expected by doctors to go through major dental surgery and had only a few days of down time before being expected to keep up a rigorous series of travel to medical appts that made us pretty mad at them. (Grrrr) If there's no overriding reason she couldn't still plan to go, you could (could) choose to assume she's going, and let it be a disappointment THEN to ddolder if she doesn't. Just leave it that the difficulty in recovering was unforeseen. Ddolder will be so busy with the graduation doings that she might not see it as anything more than just unfortunate that her grandmother isn't feeling well. I don't know much more that you can say to your dmother, with less than 24 hours before appt, than that you want her to try to conserve her strength and be well enough for events by the graduation date. Actually, if you meet the dentist, a valid question would be, "How long before my mother will be well enough to get out of the house?"

Beyond this, my best advice, upon having a dd graduate from college, is to have her diploma framed in a gorgeous manner (even the college colors and seal) and give it a place of honor in the front room of the house. That is a lasting appreciation of her work and an inspiration to her family, younger AND older.

I like that d harriet.(frame) .. I will be going to do that. we are celebrating on the other side of the family as we have 3 graduations which will mean alot to all of of these great kids.

actually my mother kayaks, exercises daily, goes to party's, has large parties and is a social butterfly, goes boating a couple times a month with her friends. She went para sailing last year and has no problem sitting through other kids graduations. (actually dd older is one of the first ones and will be done fast). my mom is far from old she is 75 and is like she is 62 actually she is much more athletic and better than me at 53. She goes dancing, does swimming and stays up until 2 so that she can finish projects (building things and painting). So I do struggle with the fact she goes to many graduations outside of my kids and tells me how smart they are, especially those with engineering as their focus. Unfortunatly dd younger has said she had thought about engineering but bc of d mom's pushing it's become the last thing she wants to do. I know my mom meant well.. everything is a lesson to her. (I don't mean to sound in an angry voice at all which may come off in writing, I am just trying to handle this well with out dd's getting hurt and eventually my d mom getting hurt). my mom is going to france this fall. She is so far from idle lol. I think, as usually happens, she doesn't see that this is a big thing for dd older.

actually lol if i asked the dentist anything my mother would snap... she is really vital, she drives a sports car (that is constantly with an open roof). She got rid of her new corvette last year because she was too short to see out of it but got something that would handle her size.

dd younger said she knows how the ranking goes - its my mom, then her friends and my dbrother and his wife as equals, then further down is my youngest dd, then me, then dd older and at the bottom, if he is thought of at all, is dh. esp. when she comes back from her florida friends.

I guess I just worry that dd older will see this again as dd younger over her even though dd younger is very upset by this.

I think there may be nothing I can do about it. for dd older it will be a slap in the face again and hopefully she can let it go.. not as easy for her. dd younger mmm she tends to be understanding but she feels this is beyond what should happen, dh wasn't surprised. Me - I don't expect anything but I have to admit this one surprised me. I just worry about the long term affects for my girls and my mother.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

We are in the Chicago area and have had lunch with Dson. Flight was a bit bumpy but all things went well.

Now is time to catch up on lost sleep and then we will go to DGD#6's Bridging Ceremony from Brownies to Girl Scouts.

Frustrated that a large transfer from endowment funds to operating hasn't been done - it's only been two months! Found out that the responsible party emailed wrong person with check request 10 days ago. Frustrated with incompetent people although this woman is an attorney I don't think she has common sense sometimes.

Ds to dentist, has a cavity to be filled later this month, and we stopped at the grocery. The boy can eat.

Working on desk day papers today, and continuing.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Working on Laundry here today. Paid some bills

Sunshine and temps and nice.

Sending hugs to (((Blessed))). I think I would tell your mom that daughters will be hurt if she's not there. At least she would know that.

Going to work on some computer work while the last of the loads are washing and drying.

Great day to all!
