At DDad's funeral prep there was a representative from all sides of the family. We gathered around a large conference room table at the funeral home and all gave information for the obituary to the funeral person. She left the room and quickly wrote the obituary (took about 10 minutes). Then she printed it off and gave each one of us a copy to proof read. Everyone sat around the table together and read it. I was the only one who made chances (several of them). After those changes, everyone agreed ithe obituary was fine and didn't need any more changes made. I was sadden to hear (later) how upset one quarter of the family was because they felt we left DBrother (who died last year) was left out. He was not listed with the living children, but with the deceased children. The obituary said something like ....DDad had son and daughters (giving names of living children and the name of DBrothers widow) then at the end of the obituary it said DDaddy was preceded in death by a son (giving name). It would have been an easy change if they would have spoken up during obituary prep instead of complaining later.

LucyLee - all this to say - do not accept blame for this! You are doing the very best you can. (((((Hugs))))) you are in my thoughts and prayers today.

Kathryn, I so agree with you about anniversaries and Mother's Day being artificial. My dad always gave dm flowers on those 2 occasions. Big deal! He cheated on her from the day after they married until she divorced him 22 years later. He abused her emotionally and mentally. Because of that, when I married dh, I decided that as long as he treated me respectfully every day, I didn't care about those things. I have also, always felt like if dh can't be here when I need him, then I don't need him at all. In 42 years of marriage, he has always been here for me.

Summer is arriving today. It is suppose to be 93 today, 95 tomorrow and so it begins. I am thankful the a/c is serviced and ready to cool the house.

Dh had planned to stay home and tile the bathroom floor today. Then his phone started notifying him of emails. He needed to go in and do time sheets. So he decided to go ahead and work, because once he was there he would lose so much time. So he will take tomorrow off.

I need to wipe down the tiled surfaces so he can seal the grout tonight. I also need to mow. I will have to mow again on Friday.

Dm told me last night that they will arrive Saturday at noonish and will have to leave Sunday afternoon. Dsisil has to babysit on Monday. Dm wasn't very happy but I think she doesn't want to travel this far by herself anymore, so has to deal with it. Gee, if she would just clean her house I could visit her.

Hope you continue to feel better Kathryn. It is awful to be sick while you are travelling.

Okay, around here all the obituaries are written the way your ddads was. If he was proceeded in death by parents, siblings or children they are listed. I agree with you, someone should have spoke up or forever held their peace.

Oh (((LucyLee))) you surely don't need any of this. Hopefully the correction and perhaps the "reading" of the NEW obituary will soften things. Good reason for any of us to write up our own obituaries (where it can be found) well ahead of time. Guess when we finally get around to our arrangements, well include that little part too. Of course both our parents are gone as well as 1 daughter and 1 granddaughter. So those need to be included for sure. And then I just lost my sister too. Which reminds me, I was going to call my dniece yesterday as I'm sure it was hard for her and also our granddaughter. Have to put those on my l&&t of things to do tonight.

Have a church council meeting via S kype tonight. Hopefully we have it worked out so it will be okay. I had hoped to be home by now. So I'll only be home for 4 meetings before it's time to come south again. We don't have 1 in July & we'll be gone by the time November's rolls around. Kinda wish someone else would take this on who could attend in person. Or at least a "vice'-Clerk".

Kathryn sure hope you feel better as the day goes on. I used to have some of those 'attacks' that would leave me quite sore the next day. Always figured it was gall bladder -but haven't had that in years -she says hopefully. Absolutely the worst time to be sick -on your day off or on vacation/traveling.

Chicken chores are done this morning, watering check and I've done my journal entry for today, dishes are going; plus I've done a bit of a walk with babyN. around the block. Dgd is here now too. Bed is spiffed. Kitchen looks better after I got the water bottles refilled and put in the fridge. I need to sort some laundry next I think.

I realized the feed store we were at this weekend is a farm and tractor supply here too I'll have to check and see if they have the cherry yummies that Harriet mentioned on Sat.

Hmmm, hadn't thought of gall bladder. My ddad had that, as did his sister so I need to keep that in the back of my mind. Chicken or turkey used to trigger them.

I'm getting stronger. Lots of burps which help reduce the pressure a bit. I had my rice krispies and then went for a walk to the Lifeway Christian bookstore. Picked up bulletin covers and candles for Christmas Eve. It is important to learn from one's mistakes - I don't want to burn the church down next Christmas. These candles are shorter and thicker so the kids won't be able to break them as easily, meaning this box of 250 should last a very long time. Also bought more greeting cards. I have about 10 left from the last 2 times I've picked them up. Whenever I pull one out for use by the board, everyone is very impressed that I have an appropriate card with scripture. I also send them to the church secretaries where I preach as a thank you for their help at making me look good.

Next challenge is lunch. My clergy friends I'll be hanging with this week have arrived but I'm not quite ready to catch up with them. Dh is on his hike. I'll walk over to Subway and get a sandwich. That should be testing my system enough. I have taken a pill in prep for eating.

I've boiled and peeled the eggs for h's lunches for the week.
Dgd helped me mix up two batches of cookie dough it's going for the yd. sale at the church this weekend possibly.
We have a hazardous weather warning outlook for tonight.
I've knit a few rows.
Need to do more exercise after I spiff up the kitchen a bit more.
I got a pen pal letter so I can think about the progress I've made over the last month to share.

Lunch is sitting fine, I think. My tummy isn't upset, just sore.

Thinking of LucyLee too. Do know how much I could feel all your arms of love and were present with me when I needed it. I'm thinking she will too.

Just got back from dsisil's. Going out to lunch tomorrow for her dsis' and my birthdays. Told her I'd be there after stopping to do some work at church. Hoping to have the bulletin all but done when I meet with dpastor on Thursday. I have a hair cut at 3 so it's going to be a short day. We're leaving as soon as dd gets home from school -probably around 4:30. Told db/dsisil we'd probably be up there by 6:30. So we have to be all packed and ready to go when dd gets home.

I have church council tonight at 8 and dd is going to print t-shirts for the Hospital Walk in memory of dZoe. Friend of dd's did the art work for the shirt and it's really cute. Did a take on the 'official' shirt, but put the feet and wings on to symbolize our little angel. Signed dh up to walk but not sure I'd be up to it. I'll register closer in, depending on how I feel. Since my whole family will be there that day I probably will go. Think it's a 'carnival' atmosphere from 9-1 that Saturday. DS-A will be presenting our scholarship award that week to a student from their high school. And our 3 grandchildren have their dance recital same week -shaping up to be busy. That's ok.

Going to clean up the kitchen and make 'cabbage' soup for dinner. I bought stuff for it last week & have had no chance to do it. A good start to my diet I think. Off I go. Will be thinking and praying for LucyLee as I do.

Back from registration and a walk (and shopping.)

Dh can't come to any of the concerts at night because the conference is full capacity. In fact there are only 2, tonight and Thursday. Tomorrow night is a 'conversation' between a classic and a whipper snapper. And Wednesday is story-telling.

Dh found out from the other Ottawa clergy that Kristopherson is playing on Wednesday so we walked down to the Ryman Auditorium and bought a ticket. Online the best he could get was last row of the balcony. Now he's third row and an aisle seat and the price was $10 less. Woot!

We bought souvenirs at the Ryman and the Barbershop Quartet Society gift shop. Got a great Eat, Sleep, Sing t-shirt on clearance. Bought a guitar shaped flyswatter at the Ryman.

Dinner is in 45 minutes, then I'm off to the conference. Worship, lecture and music is on the agenda for tonight. Maybe I should take a nap now.
