Happy Birthday to Dee!

Today I've spiffed up the house made the bed sorted laundry and it's going now. The baby is here and I fetched the doll & stroller from downstairs and she is happy playing with that. I put away the bus push toy that she was crawling on standing on away. So she will not even miss it I hope! LOL! I put away the kiddie chair b/c she was standing on it as well. She's learned how to crawl up on the couch with the bus. [She's a climber.] So she has went from crawling to walking and now climbing in the few months that she's been here and now is a one year old.

Laundry needs flip flopped.

Yesterday dgson said that they are changing rooms the class will help to get ready for next year the principal made a decision and sounds like they are doing musical rooms and all the 4-6th grade classes are moving. Could easily explain his teachers melt down the other day. Spelling test today could be the last actual work they do this year.

I don't have the baby on Mon. dd said they were working on the weekend not sure yet about our gkids.

H. has Mon. off. It's raining here a bit now and we are supposed to have a cool wet rainy weekend so not good for a camp out any way and too crowded for me.

Okay, your dbs family sure has a lot going on. That doesn't surprise me a bit that you would take the time to mow for them. I am sure he realizes what a special sister he has.

lucylee, you made it. Now onto the next phase of your life (and more time to join us).

Dove, last night you mentioned the basement and laundry room and reno. Is the basement finished and your are redoing it or has it never been finished?

Speaking of basements, with all the tornadoes there has been talk about areas where they are not common. My hometown area does not have basements, because the soil is too moist. So our families were amazed that here we have finished basements. I have been in many homes over the years and there are very, very few without basements.

Will be glad when Twins gets a definitive answer about dds foot.

It is cloudy, cool and windy. Suppose to warm up tomorrow but chance of rain most every day for the next week. The wind and chance of rain is altering my plans while dh is gone. I had bought a high powered weed killer that I will spray on the whole lawn. It can't be put on while it is windy or chance of rain within 24 hours. So that's on hold for a week. Then I had intended to wash the SUV and then use bug and tar cleaner on it. Last fall I was on my way to dd2s and their road had been tarred and sanded. Needless to say I ended up with small swirls of tar on there. I don't want to wash it while it is too cool and windy, so that's on hold,too. Of course, in the grand scheme of life, this falls under "no big deal".

Well I better hit the shower. I need to buy groceries but need to make a list first. Dgd3 is planning to spend the night with me tonight. We will see if she makes it thru the night. Twice she has attempted to stay at her other grandmas when her aunt and family are there visiting. Both times her aunt and dm have had to meet halfway at 11 pm or so.

Nancy, it's hard to believe that 3 months have flown by since you started watching the baby. You seem to really enjoy her.

Yikes MT, with the price of strips I can see why you are dismayed. All diabetes supplies are so expensive.

I called dh to remind him that he COULD go see his sister. He hadn't even thought of that but told me not to tell her in case he doesn't make it. He said he may come home Sunday.

Probably no definitive answer until next week, Lilac, although dd says that she saw a "bright spot" in the area of her foot where the doc believed he saw a stress fracture. Technician didn't want to tell her anything when she pointed it out. We are obviously back home. As it turned out, after they injected her we were allowed to leave but had to be back at 10:30 so we went to Starbucks and came home for a bit. Not long enough to nap, which is what I'm planning to do next.

After napping, I need to make three phone calls and run a couple of errands.

I've made a pineapple angel food cake and devil's food cup cakes for the church supper tonight. Am going to run over to the store and buy canned frosting since it is the easiest way to do this.

I just watched ds's toast to the groom at dfs' wedding. He did a fantastic job, great content, great delivery. I laughed and cried (and the others laughed and I heard sniffles from the audience and "awwww"s.)

Forgot to post this before running over the store. The smoking of the pork (not my problem) is not going well today. His trial run was done on a sunny 80* day. Today it isn't over 50* and rainy plus the bbq is chock full of meat. I sensed panic in his voice during the phone call.

helia, thank you for the mention of burpee. I wanted to go back and look at that link of Okay's. Then I read of the variants. Pretty sure I won't be burpee-ing.

Kathryn, I feel for the guy in charge of smoking the meat for your church function.

As much as I hate to, I need to run to S taples and WM. I decided not to go to the grocery store until Monday or Tuesday. The things I need for the week end are things that I usually buy at WM.

Dneighbor came for a while with a b'day card. Offering their help all the while dh is laid up. I know I can call on just about anyone here in the campground if I need ANYTHING! One nice thing about living in this type of a 'village'. Everyone knows dh anyway. Trying to get everything spiffed and company ready before dh's surgery. I know he will have plenty of visitors and I may have to curtail some of it so he doesn't get too tired out right away.

It should be good weather by then and perhaps he can spend quite a bit of time on the deck. But he needs something to relax in/on. All I have right now is chairs. He did have a really nice hammock at one point, but we got rid of it last year. He needs a good recliner out there. Hmmmm....good idea for Father's Day/birthday. And he will also be a 50-year cancer survivor this year. (All his breathing & heart problems are a direct result of that). DD wants to have a shindig for his b'day/surviorship this summer. We'll see how things go.

I just called dh's pulmonologist to cancel his appointment with him & a spirometry test. But they want me to call that week and we'll see if he's up to that test yet. They will talk to the Dr about it at that point.

It is rainy and gloomy here too, Kathryn. 49 outside. There's big things planned here for all weekend, hoping the weather improves. Supposed to have "Wreck It Ralph" movie on the beach tonight but they've moved it inside. I'd like to go, but dh and I both get too tired by 8ish. We've decided to go to W mart when he gets through work, make a deposit at the bank and go out to A pple bee's for dinner. Realized I have a gift card for there in the car and it's only a block beyond W mart.

I've done a LOL, did the dishes and washed my hair. Clothes are put away. Still have a bunch I have to reorganize from unpacking suitcases. I must really like this one top I bought a few weeks ago. When I unpacked I found I have 2 exactly alike. So I'll just pack one away to take to FL and leave the other one. But I do need to l&&t everything here and there. Mind fails me too easily.

Lilac, part of the basement is finished & by the looks of the wood paneling & tiny floor tiles it was last done sometime in the 1950s. There is an old built in bar that we want ripped out as we will gain several feet of space in the room without it (It is also a big hot spot -- too easy to throw things on top of it to deal with "later" ). The laundry area is unfinished -- I hate the gray cinderblocks & having an exposed ceiling. I can live with the cement floor, will just paint that as I like having a rug down to sort clothes on. Most of all I want lots of round recessed lights in the ceiling to brighten things up. Right now there are just two small ceiling lights, & even with some extra lamps it is still so dark & gloomy down there.

Helia, I had forgotten that we tried the bell by the door for our ddog, too . That worked great for a few days, until we realized she was ringing it not just to go out & do her business, but ringing it whenever she wanted to go outside, period . She has always loved sniffing everything & it is still her favorite activity, more so than any dog I've had before. She now sits in front of us & stares when she has to go out, woofs a little if she has to go urgently.

Enjoy your last day of school, dLucylee. I hope you brought some tissues with you. ((hugs))

Dee I have one of those 'zero gravity' chairs and love it. Ds had one and during one of his moves, when I got too tired, I'd just relax in it. Bought one for myself and it is my favourite. I seldom use the outside living room furniture now because this is more comfortable.

The pulled pork (unpulled) is in my oven now. My house smells FANTASTIC!

The kitchen was a complete mess but it is the future buyer of the house that is doing the smoking so when he came through I didn't mind. His house is often a mess and mine is usually very good. I don't want him to think his wife (our musician) is messier than she should be. I've since cleaned up most of the kitchen so if he comes by again he'll see that, if not, it is tidy enough that anyone can come in and get the pork when the time comes and I won't mind them seeing the kitchen.

Time to try and finish the sermon. I have 45 minutes.
