DH and I are headed to bed now, Harriet. Come 8 o'clock any more and it seems we're ready to call it a day. Tomorrow he has a few things he wants to finish up. Young son of friends of ours came over today so dh could show him where our veggie plants are so he can water them this summer -and watch a few of the other things. It'll be good for the boy and for dh to know they're being cared for. He has really caring parents and I know they'll make sure he does his 'job'.

Tomorrow night dh has a bar/sponge to shower with -from HEAD to TOE. Has to do the same thing again when we get to the hospital Tuesday morning. So he figures he'll shave and THEN take his shower. I already am planning what to wear Tues & what I want to take with me -not much. Know already I'm going to be tired. My plan is to take b enadryl about 7 tomorrow night, go to bed and hopefully get some shut eye. I'll have at least 2 alarms set. I'm always so afraid I'll oversleep -like there's much danger of that!

Dh is really at peace about all of this and is really looking forward to feeling better. Who's going to come help me sit on him? There's really lots of people here who are more than willing to help.

(((Helia))) Harriet's right. You should put a report in to the police in case you haven't already. They need to be aware of behaviour like this in your area. Cruelty to animals is a precursor to more disturbing sociopathic behaviour. It might have been an angry bird lover or gardener, but on the off-chance it is a disturb person it is worth a report to the police so they can be looking for a pattern.

We had dinner out and then did the groceries. I got home, put away the groceries and cleaned up the kitchen. Now I'm crashing. Dh's computer just had a major fail (complete with an ongoing alarm.) He was trying to upload photos from the trip and my guess is that it overheated or there was some sort of major software fail. It is a mac so it should be able to handle a lot of video at once so dh is waiting for it to cool down and see if that was the problem.

The dishwasher has finished so I'll start the laundry once dh unpacks.

I see it's been a very quiet day here. Hmm, maybe because I didn't have time to come yakketyyak before this. Are you ready for my novel?

I'm relieved that Ken is safely back home in Canada. Thinking about Dee & DH. I'm happy that Harriet & family had such a fun weekend. I am absolutely furious that someone shot Helia's ragdoll cat. And ... nope, sorry, too tired to remember anything else from cuop.


The big annual book sale started yesterday and will continue throughout this week, with a big final push on Saturday.

Yesterday we did not have nearly as many customers as I was expecting, and the money count at the end reflected that. I think there are 2 reasons for the low traffic.

1) The person who was supposed to put up the advertising flyers didn't do it until Wednesday morning. IMO for what is supposed to be a major fund-raiser, the flyers should have been out at least 3 weeks, but they got 3 days.

2) We had a nice dry sunny day after so many days/weeks of bad weather. Lots of people finally had a chance to mow and do other outdoor activities.

We are trying something totally new this time, offering book sale hours this Thursday and Friday evenings from 4 to 8 to try to catch people who can only come after work during the week. Hopefully we'll sell a lot in the next days to make up for yesterday's low numbers.


Today I've been pushing hard to get caught up on chores that have been neglected since Wednesday while I've been volunteering on the big project up at the library. I put ham and potatoes au gratin in the slow cooker this morning for supper, while for lunch we had a quick sandwich at the sub shop.

DH and I also had to make an emergency trip to The Big City hardware store to buy a new lawnmower. The old mower's handle broke at a place that, if it can be mended at all, will need to be welded. The rain is supposed to come back Tuesday, so DH is mowing as fast as he can.

Actually the emergency trip worked out well because he dropped me off at a grocery store while he picked out a lawnmower. Not only did we accomplish 2 errands at the same time, now I won't have to use the time and gas to drive into the city tomorrow.


I have been recording shows on the new dvr for several days. Tonight I will finally be able to check to see if it is working properly, not to mention if anything that recorded is worth watching.

Well ... this took awhile to write in between chores. I'm finally hungry enough to eat supper. My plan for the rest of the evening is to change the sheets, do a couple loads of laundry, and collapse!
