Quick post here to say Hi to everyone! For the fourth day in a row we have gray clouds and thunder rattling the windows!

Daily routine is mostly done. It's time for me to sit down with my notebook and think through preparations for dgkids' visit. I still have a few things to do, along with regular routine that will be spread out over the next five days. I want to plan some meals for the next couple of weeks and make a list of things to do to keep them busy.

Kathryn, it sounds like you really need to live by the water somewhere, as much as you enjoy it.

x went through stack of letters by the phone with dh. I have now created a new chore - lots of filing needs to be done.
x took care of a couple more odds and ends - gave to dfriend's memorial fund, asked about an info gathering card for my high school
x chatted briefly w/ dfriend S who is here sewing with dd15
x phone calls from dfriend; we're meeting up with these friend in Ohio over the weekend. He made hotel reservations for us at the park lodge. Now, I need to cancel my other reservations.

Next:
- finish a.m. routine - basically, unload dw
- switch laundry
- DPC
- rough draft of a cover letter

Yeah, I know. The buildings we are looking at have some units overlooking the river. But it still isn't quite the same because the river isn't navigable there. I need water and boats (at the very least, ships preferred.)

We are home now. Actually, we've been home an hour. Ds is here and talking away. He had 2 Spartan races last weekend and one this upcoming weekend. So he's soaking his clothes out on the driveway in a rubbermaid bin. The problem with all these races is all the laundry he gets from them!

I'm going to rest for a while now. I'm exhausted although I haven't done anything today but pack up and ride in a car.

I'm starting my day over also. Somehow last night I got started reading a book.....and read until 1 a.m. Then, I was up at 5:00 a.m. when dh's clock went off and he was in the shower; OTOH I needed to get up to take him to the airport for a trip. Then home again, but met with rabbi at 8:30 as usual on Thursdays, and I finished the book, then slept. Need to get motivated somehow.

Cowinkie, BTW, the book was quite good! I found it at Target and kept it for myself instead of sending to dd. I'll send it to her in another package in a week or two.

We've been to get our hair cut, and to the bank, and paid the homeowner's insurance.
Got home & realized insurance was more than TWICE what it was last year. Hmmm... that was kind of shocking. Must call them and see what kind of deal this is.
This afternoon, dh & ds are taking couch to upholstery man; I'll be babysitting and taking van for oil change.
Other than that, I guess our day is pretty open. That's enough to deal with.
I need to rinse out hair and get rid of all the loose hair -- but I hate to b/c the girl always blows it dry and it looks so nice when I leave her.

I do think dmom's problems are very much due to stress... but how long, how long is this going to last??? She is just making me crazy.
And get this: while at CVS, she started to squat down to get a card off the bottom shelf; lost her balance, and fell hard enough onto the concrete floor that the "pop" of the impact made a boy passing by say, "Oh my G-d! Are you okay???" She feared she may have broken her tailbone, but managed to get home, take pain medicine, and come to dgs's party after all. Good grief. What am I going to do with her??? She is only 68 and she LOOKS ten years younger, until you watch her walk around... when she looks ten years older, b/c (I guess) of the back surgery and foot problems and etc etc.
* sheesh *

At any rate, this will probably prevent her from joining us on the long day @ music festival tomorrow... which will make matters much easier on ME... BUT... she does need to get out and do fun things for herself. As daunt said, we've GOT to get her out of the house more.
(Oh -- and re: comments last night -- ddad DID always do the driving, but we are not talking about anything complicated. These three towns are in approx a 25 mile radius of each other and all three are just little wide places in the road, basically. She was just on auto-pilot, as I think Lynlee said. I've done that myself, too. But the fact that she almost missed the funeral... now that really aggravated -- or maybe, concerned is a better word -- me.)

I read it just as fast as you...hard to put down wasn't it?

I thought it through this morning and decided to make it an upside down day...Usually I do my errands during mid-morning to early afternoon, but not today. It's suppose to be 116* and I didn't want to find myself out in the afternoon heat. So after finishing my morning routine I did what I usually do in the afternoon this morning.

I've had my lunch, swam Willis...I have an umbrella to sit under while I dangle my feet/legs in the water. Willis usually swims for a half hour, but today even he didn't want to stay out the entire time. Now I am starting with my morning stuff. I'm in a reorganized mode. My bathroom is just about finished and then I will start working on my office. I've made a grocery run so now I have veggies I must fix. Will do that later while watching the afternoon news show that I like. Dinner will be a snap because Sweetie still has pizza to eat and requested it along with a salad for dinner. Easy breezy dinner to fix.

Breath, breath breath Lucylee concerning your mom. This too shall pass...Remember life is not like it used to be for your om. You get to go home and discuss your day with your DH. Your mom gets to go home and sit with no one, nor is your ddad there to tell her good nigh t or good morning when she wakes up. Her life as she knew it is gone and she's feeling everything is out of her control. She is not the mom you had before ... the most stressful event in her life has occurred and it will take time for her to rediscover who she is again ..There is no fast fix for all of this. Those of us who have watched one of our parents go through this find ourselves wanting everything to return back to "normal" as fast as it can. It usually doesn't happen that way. This takes time and its never cares about our schedules.

Heading to the bathroom...then to tackle my office. Cyall later..........
