Before I could drag myself outside to pull weeds, it decided to start raining. So that definitely settles the mowing debate with myself.

helia, yes, Harriet described the show "Dance Mom's" accurately. I watched part of an episode at dd2's house. The dance mom's I encountered were young mothers that were very snooty. They would not even smile, let along speak. The teacher is very sweet and friendly. During the summer session, dd2 told me she was talking to one of the mothers. She was not prissy, but overweight and the other mothers treated her like she didn't exist. She was telling dd2 how their house had burned down over the weekend. Her youngest daughter, not the one in dance, had hidden and her dh had went in to rescue her. They lost everything but were just happy that the 4 of them had escaped. Dd2 was horrified that not one of those mothers acted like they had heard the conversation, when dd2 said she was positive that they had heard. She said that she couldn't believe that not one of them spoke up and expressed any concern. Dd2 had told me about this. When I took dgd3 to dance the next week and encountered these snooty young women, I was not surprised at how indifferent they had reacted. The scary thing is, these snooty women are raising children.

Dd1 and family should be on the road by now. helia, this is dgs19s first year of college. The majority of kids attended what was called kinderprep at the time, so they are a year later in graduating. Now we have a school that is dedicated to early education, at 3 and up. Dd1 is the school nurse there and loves the young children. This is the 2nd year that this building is being used for this. The reason for this is, we have a lot of non-English speaking students and by starting them early, they have a better chance of being sucessful, learning English at a younger age.

I was astonished when I read in the paper that of 7200 students in our district, 5400 qualify for free or reduced lunches. Several times last year dgd17 ended up at lunch, with not enough money in her lunch account. Each time they wouldn't let her eat and the last time, they literally took the tray away. Each time she called dd2 and each time dd2 went to the school, picked up dgd17 and took her to lunch. That is after she gave them a piece of her mind, that they give away most of the lunches, but couldn't give dgd17 a lunch and also told them that this better be an excused absence while she was gone. I agree with dd2 but it could have been avoided if dd2 had paid attention and kept money in the account. You can put whatever amount on the account, using your credit card. With 5 kids, a business and too much on her plate, these things happen to dd2. She doesn't appreciate me reminding of things, so I pick my battles there.

Yikes, I just went in my bathroom and noticed dh's comb on the counter. I am reasonably sure he did not intend to leave it there because he always has a comb in his back pocket. I have more combs for him but since we moved, he wouldn't know the location. Oh well, it isn't the end of the world.

I probably won't leave home today, but sometime I need to go to the local nursery and see if they have any plants available to plant by my mailbox. If not, I will cover it with weed barrier and rocks until next spring. I also need to find some bags of landscaping rocks. Then dh and I can pick them up in his pickup this weekend.

Better try to do something constructive around here................

We have decided to stay here another week. It was a bit of a shock yesterday as we have been staying for $8 and 9 per night and this was $22 last night. But if we buy a season pass it will just be about $150 for the next 8 nights. Then we will be on a good schedule to have a place to stay over the Labor Day weekend.

The showers here are great. Real doors as compared to just shower curtains. The water is soft and the baths are clean. All the comforts of home.

DH is cleaning the bugs off the front of the rig and then, since he now has a fishing permit, will go fishing. This will give me time by my self.

Haven't been by lately. Did cuop a bit but didn't post. could make a whole list of I didn't.

This whole Baby Veronica case has really gotten a hook into me for some reason and I spend hours just reading about it or catching news videos. I am saddened by it no matter how it turns out. I should really try to block it out as there is nothing I can do that will make a difference.

Cooking lunch, DH has gone an hours drive away to pick up a roll top desk. He wants to move around the furniture in our bedroom to make room for it. Wants a quiet place to make phone calls.

Off to finish up lunch and then get ready for work.

I think at dkids schools they were given something like a cheese sandwich and fruit - not a hot lunch but enough to keep hunger pains at bay.

Dkids have disappeared to have lunch w rabbi. I need to get in shower to get ready to go to funeral today - a second cousin - haven't seen his family in a long time but keep up on facebook somewhat. And I couldn't get to the visitation last night. I think the cemetery is the long-time cemetery and I might go for the interment just to say hello to all other relatives buried there. Great grandparents, a grandfather, although not marked, and other ancestors farther back probably, again, not marked.

So nice to have a day w/o a lot of running. My little man Moses is on the floor snoring comfortably and the house is quiet.

Sadie - I understand the turmoil about Baby Veronica. I've tried to stay away from it as much as possible but it pulls the heart string even to hear tidbits. It is too close to home to totally ignore.

OKay - I'm glad your dbro I still able to be a cowboy on some level. Interesting method for dealing w scar tissue.
For my dbro I think having a truck with a hydraulic hoist has been a huge help getting things done.

I had to laugh when doc said I had a 2% likelihood of heart problems. Family history says otherwise. Also that dbro had great difficulty getting dx. Alway - nothing wrong - the result of tests - until he had an incident of pain in the cardiologist room after being given all clear. And a father who died in hospital after being there for days and not being sent to cardiologist, or even having meds perscribed despite previous attack.

Harriet - mostly the health system here is good. but. The govt/committee/beuracrats gets to say whats covered and whats not. DBro's procedures are currently subject to lobbying - I think they are trying to build their case and hoping for for good results to state their case. Pvt ins seems to often follow suit.

I have been waking about 5 but tonight I got up at 2.15. had a snack and a cuppa. Needing to get back to bed. Hoping I can get comfortable and mysteriously find the right Goldilocks temperature - not too hot or cold. and for pain to subside.

Ds has made good progress on his stuff today.

He had lost a USB key yesterday and lifted his mattress to look underneath. That reveals mold/mildew so, since he's off today, we are dealing with it. Looks like moisture from the wood slats is the culprit. There are two covers on the mattress (it is IKEA) and both are badly stained with sweat as well.

We put the mattress out on the driveway to air and dry (it was actually still damp.) We washed both mattress covers and they are on the line drying. The sweat stains remain (as they do on all my mattress covers) but the mildew appears to be gone. It is a cloudy day here so we aren't getting a lot of solar help in the trying process so I'm not sure he'll be sleeping on his bed tonight. It has rained once since we put them out (I pulled them in) so I'm sitting with a window open so I'll hear rain the moment it starts. Mattress feels dry now so is back in the garage, the slats have been washed with bleach/water and are on the driveway drying.

When we reassemble the bed, we'll put a sheet of plastic down between the slats and the mattress.

With the bed apart things like empty bottles and other garbage were visible so he cleaned that up, we got all the dirty laundry off the floor and out of the room, queued up to be run in the washer/dryer. And then he loaded up his car with chairs and a table to take to dfs' house to be used by then while he's away. He went through a number of bins and tossed some things. As he finishes going through a bin, he marks it as done and ready to be taken to a friends place for storage. The idea is to leave 2 - 3 with each of 4 - 5 friends to cut down on what I'll be storing. I'll still have stuff like his golf clubs and bike to take care of, as well as the dang wardrobe which he hasn't tried to sell yet. He loves it, so I understand his hesitating to sell it. I'd take it but I won't likely have the room for it in the new place. If we were staying here, I would have installed it in dh's dressing room. It is the biggest of his possessions, even his bed collapses smaller, including the mattress (which compresses down dramatically.)

I put my orchids out on the front porch (they have scale they picked up outside last summer and I never got rid of it so I'll toss them once winter comes.) I've also done some filing and tossing of things while ds has been working. We'll have 2 - 3 extra garbage bags to go out this week.

Got offered three more weeks at the church I preached at last Sunday but could only take one of them for sure, one I can't for sure, and one is up in the air as to travel. But it was still a great confidence boost.

I'm not going any where today either they are still doing road work in our neighborhood but it's quieted down so they may have finished with it for today.

Got the noon time chicken chores done eleven eggs today one of the younger hens is a new layer and needs to learn to eat the oyster shell calcium I have for them I've been trying to remember to put some in the feeder when I feed them. I had to lower the feeder it was too low then I had it too high so now I"m hoping it's just right today!

Granny duty is over and I"m trying to remember the 3 box she plan for de-cluttering toss donate and goes in another room right? I'm going to use the approach for the dining table sigh again!

I've tried to stay active this morning unfortunately most of that activity involved out side the house stuff. Watering cleaning up etc.

Harriet, you nailed it on the term "callous attitude". That little girl wasn't at dance lessons, so I am wondering if they ended up moving away or just flat don't want to deal with anyone like them at dance lessons. I will say that each of the young women were friendly yesterday. I guess the snooty moms are opting for the Monday night lessons or Saturday morning lessons.

I was talking to dm this morning and we were talking about the school lunch episodes. She reminded me that my dnephews then 16 year old son had the same thing happen last fall and it was on a day that they were travelling to an out of town football game on the bus and he didn't have lunch.

I'm back. Dd1 called and she wanted me to go to their house and find the letter from the university about the dessert reception. She knew the time but didn't know the place.

I ended up weeding and finishing the perimeter of the boxwoods. Then I realized the grass was dry and needed mowing so I did that. In the process of getting out the mower, I noticed it had flooded again. Since I had vacuumed it last weekend there was just clean water standing. So I threw a bunch of old towels in there to soak up the water. They are now in washer and I have a fan going to dry the floor out again. The newspapers worked well when I putting the landscaping things in front of the door for a dam. Without them, it kept the water to a smaller amount. I bet I won't forget to put the dam up if it's suppose to rain. So I am keeping an eye on the weather. It is breezy, cloudy and 73. If it starts to sprinkle I need to get the fan unplugged immediately.

I am anxious to hear from dh. The utility companies have been out here today marking our sewer, water, electric and gas lines. So they must be getting ready to start our fence within the next 5 days or so. Dh still needs to get down several sections of fence. He also needs to buy a new chain for his chainsaw. We are going to cut the 7 ft + boxwoods that run behind the fence, next to the alley to the ground. When they grow back we intend to keep them cut down to 3 ft or so. Anyway I am curious if the guy has contacted him yet. Dh intends to do the 16 ft. gate. It will be double doors. He hasn't ordered the frame, so it is doubtful that it will be done before his trip. Grrrrr... So I will be fenced in with a wide open gate. Again, grrrrr.

Dd2 had wanted me to go to the movies with her, if her dh is home in time to watch the kids. I told her that I need to shower but I am not doing my hair or makeup if we aren't going, at this point in the day. She is trying to get ahold of her dh and will let me know.

Better go outside and check the status of the damp floor.
