Baby stepping my way this morning
** LO to school.
** 3 rooms restored to MM (everything picked up/put away, swept, horizontal surfaces dusted/wiped down) - Living room, dining room and small bathrm
** Power walk (using trekking poles) 10 minutes away from house I'm gradually building up my time by adding 1 minute each day.
** Newspaper read.

Kathryn, she could drive but I can't do much in the car anyway - can't read or use a computer because I have such motion sickness. I'm okay with writing the temple "addresses" next week while on vacation, it's other stuff - mainly prep for Wed meeting that I'm stressing about. I was looking up M egabus trips to K-town for tomorrow as you suggested, but dh reminds me that dd has more stuff to get back to K-town and wouldn't be able to get it on the bus. Poor planning on my part. Another wrinkle is I don't know what time we'll be back home - trips to K-town are at 2:20 and 3:20 only. I assume we'll be back by then but I can't be sure. And she has 10 a.m. classes on Wednesday and is frantic to be on campus tomorrow evening.
Rats. Wish I had planned better.
I've done a.m. routine except for making bed, and I need to do that right now. I think I have my stuff packed, need to check, and dd is apparently in the shower...

Good morning all! It is beautiful here this morning. I went for a jog already and cut my time on 2.25 miles down by almost 1.5 minutes!
Wow, Norma!! That's an amazing accomplishment! Good for you!!
Yesterday was a long day but a good one. Dd17 and I left at 8:25, a little later than I had planned, but we got there an hour early so it turned out just fine. Weather was gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky all day! The concerts were amazing, as always. I tried to record but was informed in the middle of a piece that there wasn't enough space on my card. . . Grrr.... Dd15 got to play first oboe this year! She sat 3rd chair. She has jumped a lot since last year when she played 3rd oboe and sat 6th? out of 7 chairs. The marching demonstration was fun as always. Dd15 really looked part of the drumline with her hair sleeked back in a ponytail and orange rimmed sunglasses either on top of her head or on her face. (All the cymbals wore colored sunglasses; the snares had bandanas around their foreheads. Drum line gets to exude some personality, which is fun!) They were fantastic! I wish i could share with you. I think drumline is a bit of a work out b/c all the instruments the kids have to carry - and play - are pretty heavy. I know dd15 feels her shoulders and arms have been strengthened through the practices. Then, I ran into several different acquaintances and friends up there - from our neighborhood, from the school, and from our church. 2 of our city high schools were up there together. I may be biased, but I think our music programs sounded better. At least with the bands, they were crisper, fuller - the french horns were more in tune. Now, that must be a very difficult instrument to play! Dd15 reported that older kids in the band are still making the connection that she is ds19's sister, which she finds kind of funny. (Ds19 was also in the bands all 4 years of hs.) 3 kids were sent home from the camp for getting up at 4 a.m. and attempting to teepee another cabin. . .. The band director is strict - and serious about his rules. I guess some orchestra kids got sent home last year for another prank.
Kind of an odd week here. We're having our staycation, which means planned activities with S and R this afternoon through Th. morning. We're split into teams of 2 to plan them - I think I already shared that. Dd15 and S have this afternoon, and we already know what we're doing. It involves cooking - or course! - in teams of 2 or 3. I'm tutoring Thursday afternoon. Girls are registering for school this week - that mainly means paperwork for me. If I can get dd17 to take dd15 in for her registration time, that would be one less trip for me. I need to finish that online job application - it's been almost a month! I worked on it some Saturday, and some of my previous work had not been saved. Argh!
It's a huge behomoth. . .but through it I'll be applying for several positions in several nearby districts. It's so late now, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them get filled before I finish it, which is OK. My main interest is likely the school on campus. I also need to call references for a child care worker applicant. . . .I should probably do some weeding and trimming. Our neighbors are probably unhappy with us.

There is a 3 man crew out there digging holes for fence posts. Dh was under the impression that they had a post hole digger, if they do they aren't using it. Dh waited until 8 to leave for work. They didn't show up and he headed to work. Of course, they arrived 5 minutes later.
Dd2 met her ex and the 2 boys here this morning so they could take pictures of the boys on their 1st day and accompany them to class. They do this every year and those boys can never say they don't have parents that care.
I keep forgetting to post this. Exsil and his wife adopted a baby boy 2 months ago. The baby is bi-racial and exsil wanted bi-racial or black since it would be adopted and not have his wonderful "sport" genes. Seriously! The thought of not having a kid in sports is beyond his comprehension. They are fortunate that the baby came from a young mother who had an 18 month old and she is in college. She is not into drugs and neither was the father so they don't have those issues. Just the young mother knew that it was best. She was a friend of a relative from out of state, so that's how it happened. They had less than 8 weeks notice. Exsil was checked out in his marriage to dd2 when both of the boys were born/babies. He will tell dgd17 that the baby does this or that like she did. He has no recollection of the boys at that age. Exsil is in a school district 17 miles west of here. The babies sitter lives in a town 8 miles from here. She had surgery and can't start for another month. So he is taking the baby to the daycare at his school. And will be dropping it off when the sitter starts after her recovery. So this morning there was exsil with baby in a carrier, the 2 boys and dd2. After the baby was born dd2 bought it 3 different things and a card. She put it in a gift bag and the boys took it to them. She received a really nice thank you note and a picture baby announcement from exsil's wife. Every time we seen them at a ballgame, we would go look at the baby and talk to her. Both dgd3 and dgd2 love to check him out. So it took her almost 4 years and a baby to thaw out.
The morning is getting away so I better get a shower.

When I asked DH Saturday if he had any interest in trying to camp before the weather turned cold, he said no.
Then yesterday the weather was so beautiful that he wanted to drive through a nearby park to check out their camping area. They've added a bunch of spots and it all looks so nice. On the way home, he was talking about how it confirmed our theory that if we organized a camping "weekend" to start on a Sunday, we could pick pretty much any spot we wanted because most campers would be leaving.
He said we could even get there early in the day and if the spot we wanted wasn't open yet, we could park the cars at a picnic area and go hiking or whatever until the campsites cleared. Then we could stay for a couple of days and have the whole park pretty much to ourselves all day while everyone else was at work.
He also mentioned possibly driving through a park closer to DB's town.
So since he was the one talking about plans, I guess he is sort of still interested in camping this summer. Whether that will translate into action is anyone's guess.

Bookie - we always (or try to) move on a Tuesday or Wednesday so all the weekenders are gone. That way we get the pick of the sites.
Speaking of which there is only one other rig in this whole park besides the 2 camp hosts. It is great to go to the shower and not have to wait in line.
It was so foggy out this morning, I could barely see our truck in front of the rig. It has now burned off quite a bit and the temp is going up with it. It is supposed to be in the 90's today. Yuck.
Not sure of plans - we will go in for groceries some time today but it is only a mile away to the store. (VS 30 some at the last campground)

outside yd. wk. now done yea I've been doing at least 30 min. in the mornings while it's cool out it really making a difference! Today our drive way looks better as I loaded branches in the utility trailer. Got stung when I was nearly done so it was a less than magical start for my day. I'm just grateful I;m not allergic and was home so I could get baking soda on it right a way. The tame chicken was "helping" when I did yd. work getting bugs and such I thought.
"How cool is this when I was doing it".
Dishes Got done last evening yea for that.
Dinner I have a plan.
On my B.W.P. [basic weekly plan] bed needs attn. sheet washing day here they are in the wash now/ dump trash next up.
Yesterday dson brought the washer he was selling at the yd. sale this mo. and did not sell so I bought that from him and he & dh & I got it going so glad that's going; that seemed magical as I had all the wash caught up this weekend and that like never happens. Dson was able to borrow a big hand truck from a friend it took all three of us to get it out of the basement. Something dh & just sigh over and do not try to tackle if it's just the two of us.

Lilac, you really are full of news! It took me a while to figure out what you were saying in the first few sentences about the adoption. Then when it dawned on me, I got the giggles. Your exsil can't possibly believe that there is some guarantee of future sports aptitude depending upon the ethnicity of the adopted child? Oh well, other than that giggle (which I now squelch), I'm super happy for your grandchildren to get to receive a new adoptive sibling into their family. My dstepgd is expecting a new half-sibling on the other side of her family this winter. I'm glad they have a good relationship between the two families, although there is often some disappointment in timing/days, etc. Great idea for your dd to send a gift.
We had phone trouble this a.m. A name/number would appear on caller ID (including the corner of tv) but the phone didn't ring. Upon lifting the set, there would be no dial tone. Finally, it straightened out. One caller who got through was our regular appliance repair service. The lady listened intently and commiserated with me about the dishwasher. She took a lot of notes to explain to our long-time repairman, and agreed with me that such problems could only have come from the time of manufacture, in her opinion, and could not have been the fault of any user. Nevertheless, we only had the regular warranty, and that only replaces parts. Sigh.

Thanks Harriet! I should add that dd15 will likely not play first oboe part any other time this year as she will likely be the last oboe in the new (to her) band. She got to play it at camp b/c the oboes from the highest band automatically play first oboe.
