It has been pouring rain where I live all morning. I have been wondering how she is making out. It's about a five hour drive from me to her.
I woke up to the sound of the phone ringing in the dark this morning. I know the machine answers on the fourth ring. I picked it up as it went to the answering machine. Of course it was a telemarketer, but I went back to bed and sobbed for half an hour.
I have been crying a lot in the past week. My dad is going downhill faster than we expected.

Would have loved to have you at the garage sale, just to visit!
The rain held off until 12:01 (the announced closing time!)
We didn't rush to pull things back in because it was all outside stuff anyway, the garage held the things that couldn't get wet.
Made almost $200 (i.e. nothing but better than my last garage sale.)
May have sold some other stuff - people went home to think about it (probably a NO.)
The wardrobe didn't sell but a neighbour went home to measure and asked that I call her before putting it back up on Kajiji.
Had good social time with lots of people. The best interaction was early on, a newer neighbour who had been told we were missionaries! I had to think about it for moment but realized we travel all the time, I'm a preacher, and I got hepatitis in Africa! Of course, someone might think we are missionaries. He was thrilled to have missionaries in the area but still seem to like us. He's attending an evangelical church in the city but also is used to small family churches so I invited him to try out ours if he was interested is something completely different from where he is going now.
Am having lunch now. Garage door is down, signs are in but the rain tolerant things are still outside while we debate whether to try this next week.

The concert last night was good but not great. It was a Welsh, male, choir and members of the Welsh Society had sponsored it. The highlight was the national anthem because the audience could all sing and there were some very good sopranos that added the twiddly-bits to the singing and it was wonderful! There was also an excellent piano soloist. The choir singing was good but only a few moments were Wow, the rest were just enjoyable.
Unfortunately, just before it began dh picked up email that his San Diego trip has been approved so we were worried about whether or not we could get flights for him (he leaves next Saturday.) So we were in a rush to get home and the concert went into unnecessary (IMHO) encores. We hit the internet as soon as we got in the door and found the appropriate flights within budget. I remade the guest bed for ds and dh got the garbage out and we were into bed at 11:40 (for a 6 a.m. start, sigh.)
Re sharpies I have a blue and black one in a pen holder on my bureau for touching up shoes! Never thought of using magic erasers for running shoes, though, so thanks to Harriet's dd's mean girl for the suggestion!

Would have loved to have gone to your garage sale, Kathryn!
GG is here and she does seem like a good fit so far, a little quiet but very cheerful, and she seems secure, which is always helpful. It is still so early, though. .. we're trying to give her some space. She must be exhausted and this must be so much to take in. Dh had her call her parents when she got here. The girls just left to walk to Walgreens, and she went with them, so that is nice.
I did not get everything done I had wanted to before she arrived, but that is OK. I am currently trying to get caught up on some laundry. I have also made a trip to TJ to stock up on our freezer foods, mostly for girls' after school snacks. I have also picked up ds; he came over to say hi to the GG and is hanging out for a while. sounds like his first week of classes was good.
Next:
- switch shower liner in down bathroom
- quick s/s in that bathroom; it needs a thorough scrubbing, but I don't think that will happen today
- dh wants to go jogging with me, so maybe I'll do that. . . .
- keep laundry going
- leave for small group at 4:45.
Hmmm.... I am falling asleep typing this. A nap sounds wonderful, but then I can't do other things. . . . . .

Time with DGS16 was well spent.
It is HOT. The thermometer says 101 but it feels much hotter to me for some reason. Although on the way home I chatted with DFriend who just returned from working near Saudi and he said this doesn't feel hot at all compared to there. I guess it is all in what one gets used to.
DMom just stopped by on her way to watch DNephew play baseball in a tournament. Now I really feel like a wimp thinking it is hot. DNephew and team mates are running and playing in this heat.
I try to stop at 5pm on Saturdays, but am going to give myself an extra hour this week

Sold the bar fridge (but not the garage cupboards), put down the garage door and went to bed for a nap. Dh let me sleep 2.5 hours. I was dead out.
Now to change gears for tomorrow:
* coffee hour before church - need to bake something
* church - need to get an introduction ready and finish up the name tags
* brunch after the second service - need to cook up the bacon so we can reheat it there
* retirement party - need to prepare something to take as an appetizer or dessert
Ds slept well but woke up a bit early due to the beeps on the exercise bike (dh put off his exercises until after the sale.)
I will need to get the garage closer to normal as well. Probably not tonight but maybe tomorrow night.
Turns out dh is just fixing up leftover pizza for us so we have eating out as an option tomorrow night after the party.

I ended up taking a nap this afternoon. I decided that since I wasn't doing anything, I might as well. Maybe this evening I can get something done. I am sure I will be watching the kids tomorrow afternoon so that they can go to open houses. Then the game will be at 5:30, so tomorrow I won't get much if anything done.
I hope Dee can check in and let us know how her dh is doing. I am praying that he is on the road to recovery. My daunt who had heart surgery in early May is having a very slow recovery with several set-backs and hospitalizations. She is 76 and I guess we expected her to bounce back quickly and that hasn't been the case.
I need to drag myself away from this computer...........

Waving from Sunday.
I have been getting between 2 - 4 hours sleep mostly this week. Best night was 5 hours I think. I try to stay in bed 7-8 hours anyway - though lately I have needed toilet stop, and have been going to take thyroid meds early and heating stove top just enough that my seed cereal can cook on a turned off solid hot plate residual heat and be ready when I rise hours later.
I was too tired today to get to church. Seemed to need to lie there longer. Breaky is eaten. Today I need go/ drive 30min or so for MRI. That will be my longest driving attempt as yet. Wishing I'd had tyre pressure checked last week as that might have made for easier steering. Big sigh.
I have brought in the rest of Friday's washing.
timer will go off in 3'
