Yesterday I made some Honey & lemon ice cubes to use in tea. I mixed 1/4 cup honey, 1 T lemon juice in 1 cup hot water then froze it. Today is my first time trying the cubes. I think they are going to work well. One ice cube to a cup of tea seems to be about right for my taste and I'm not having any acid reflux. I read somewhere about using honey to eliminate acid reflux. I tried it by putting honey directly into ice tea and it has worked almost flawlessly for me for the acid reflux relief, so now I'm trying to make the process a little easier to do
DCousin just dropped off a WM plastic bag full of okra he had just picked. He was almost apologizing as he carried to me "you know, once you are on my list, there is not way to get off". DCousin is harvesting 5 gallons of okra every other day from his garden. He said his crisper and freezer are full so everything gets taken to friends and family. I thanked him for it because it seemed rude to do anything else. Then I put that sack with the other 2 sacks of fresh vegetables given to DH yesterday by a friend. I just finished processing the sack of vegetables given to us on Thursday. There is no way I'm going to complain about the abundance, but just acknowledging that it is definitely fresh vegetable overload time of the year.
We came home from church with 3 dozen of fresh eggs given to us. We passed on fresh eggs when first offered, but then accepted as they told how they are overloaded (16 eggs a day).
This week menu is going to be full of egg and vegetable recipes!
Yum OKay! I went by the grocery and picked up a few fresh things to perhaps cook for supper and then realized we also could make omelettes. DD is on the way back to K-town. We actually had a good visit and I think she realizes she just has to ignore roommate when things aren't good, and accept it when things are okay. She's coming home again next weekend for Yom Kippur - again I'll get her on Friday afternoon and she'll take the bus back on Sunday. I need to ck with ds and see if he wants to come home for YK.
I feel like I've been in a fog this entire week and weekend. From vacay to Labor day to Rosh Hashana to dd home and bat mitzvah this weekend I've felt like I was reeling. Took an hour nap this afternoon before taking dd and slept hard and woke up groggy.
Last night dh, dd and I ate out, and I asked dh if we could stop off and "walk through" the new Michaels that has opened 3 miles away. Dd and I were wowed and dh almost had to use a hook to get us out of there. Wow. Too nice and makes me want to be crafty again.

*yawn* I resemble Twins with a Sunday afternoon nap, sleeping hard, and waking up groggy. I've had too many late nights prepping for GG's arrival this week.
My fall is still shaping up. Dfriend has now asked me to help with a weekly Bible study for internationals. I'd really like to help, but dh is encouraging me to concentrate instead on doing the volunteer work needed to help me get back into the ESL classroom. Every volunteer job I sign up for ends up involving more time than I think it will. I think that is the nature of these things. . .
Right now, my fall commitments are looking like:
Monday evenings: Hebrew class at the synagogue; ideally requires prep
Wed. evenings: deacon/elder training class. Requires weekly prep. I'm thinking of becoming a deacon, and this class is a pre-req. I think I'm going to take the opportunity to get this class out of the way b/c I'm not scheduled to teach at the moms group any Thursday mornings this semester, which is highly unusual.
Thurs. mornings: moms group - teaching team, steering comm. chair, child care coordinator until we find one. My main weekly commitment
Thurs. evening: we host dinner for 2 couples. Since S and R's baby is arriving soon, I think they'll take a break for a while.
Friday afternoons: tutoring ESL.
Every Other Saturday evening: small group. I keep this organized and we host from time to time.
Band Uniforms: as needed at home and keeping closets in order. There are 2 rooms of closets, 1 room for marching uniforms, 1 for concert uniforms. 4x/year, I need to work with the band director in the school to get the kids fitted (marching and concert) and then run 2 sets of uniform returns in the spring, one for each type of uniform.
Speaking of which, I will need to spend some time on band uniform stuff this week. I'm going in tomorrow to straighten up the marching uniform closets. I need to pass some updates and uniform #s on to co-band uniform parent so she can update database on her computer. And I need to schedule a time to hang concert uniforms with the orchestra parents when they are returned from the dry cleaners, which should be soon. And then I need to pull the band reserved concert uniforms before concert uniform fittings , which are happening in early November.
I'm going to go update laundry now. Dh and I will walk to get bread and maybe chicken sausages at WF soon. S and R are joining us for dinner.
OKay: didn't you once post that this is the time of year when everyone rolls up their car windows and locks the doors when out on errands, lest they come back to the car and find it with bags of produce in the back seat?!!
The anniversary party went better than I expected except it was too much standing for me and my knees (which hurt before I went there) were killing me about 2/3 of the way into it. We had chairs but the people we were chatting with didn't so I couldn't suggest we sit.
Had a light dinner and I cleaned up the kitchen. Dh had done a pass through after church and I had kept up with things this morning so it was not an onerous task.
Next challenge is to fold yesterday's laundry and tidy our bedroom (which is a mess since I missed doing it this morning.)
When I got to my dad's this afternoon, he had just harvested more tomatoes... My brother took home most of them.
Time to kick some house around here. Mike just got off the phone with 2 of my (our) FB friends and they are coming over on Wednesday, which might get changed to Tuesday. I have the following on my short |!$+.
Floor in front of BR closet. (My worst hot spot)
The wood room needs to be (ack) dusted.
Pick up my stuff. (Mike is on his own for his stuff~I refuse to touch any of his stuff since he's been "retired")
Spiff the bathroom on Monday night.
Laundry.
Cobweb patrol.
Dust the piano.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.
Today I washed socks and underwear with our bed sheets, then dried them and DH and I made the bed.
DH mowed, I wrote a long letter to my longest letter-writing pen friend. She's fun!
Then, DH and I washed the master bathroom, powder bathroom and main/guest bathroom rugs.
Some are spinning. DH swept and mopped the tile bathroom floors.
I found a good position in the recliner, where my hip and leg didn't hurt, lower legs on a big sofa pillow.
I conked out like a light and slept about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. I feel wonderful!
I put in the mileage between the 2 distances between my soon-to-be Utah Dsis and me.
It is 829.31 miles in a straight line and 1, 179 miles driving.
There's a mileage calculator on-line. This is the furthest my Dsis and I have been from each other, as older adults.
When she was younger, she lived in Hawaii for a few years, but came home often.
Now she won't be visiting home as often. I'm not too sad about it. Just know we'll need to put more effort into keeping in touch now. She leaves the 12th or 13th. She'll call to say good-bye before she leaves.
Her cell plan and ours are the same, so we get free minutes. That's super.
She'll be able to email and I write good letters, so I'll write her. She rarely writes, but I know she'll call and email.
It'll be such a huge change without here in the NW! But change is good, she needs a warmer climate for her health.
Her DH got a job promotion and has been there for about 2 - 3 months, depressed without her, his true love wife!
I'm very happy for her because I've read on-line about the area and it's so different from here and what's there sounds so beautiful, too.
DH and I'll be watching PBS show tonight called "Last Tango in Halifax," on at 8 p.m. Pacific Time. It's about an elderly couple and it's a feel-good story to make you feel like a teenager again. It's about love between an elderly couple. Sure sounds good! ♥ ♥
Have a great night!

We had a nice sunrise and also a pretty sunset this evening.
Sounds like the abundance from gardens will last long into the winter/spring season!
We had a quiet day here. Dfam#2 did come this afternoon. We watched one of the Harry Potter movies after dinner. We talked to both other dsons this afternoon. So far all the dgkids are doing well with school and like all their classes and teachers.
I found a post card from our a/c company that said they will be coming tomorrow for a seasonal check....It's a good thing I cleaned the filter yesterday, so I'm ready!
(I hope Mr. MT feels better. It took my dh a long while to really get his strength back when he fell and broke his nose.)
I'm ready for a new week.....and I hope it is a good week for everyone!
Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible. --- Francis of Assisi
I found some energy I didn't know I had at thie time on a Sunday night.
Grabbed the Endust and the cleaning cloth that was right beside it and started by wiping the 2 knick knack shelves in the kitchen. Nice night to run out of paper towels as I wiped some glass items as well. Teeny tiny things are on these 2 shelves. Little glass birds and bunnies and lions and that type of stuff. So that's done!
I also did all the wood in the bathroom. 3 frames. I polished the glass on the prints in there with windex and (shhhh) toilet paper. Sometimes you gotta use other paper products. So that's done, also! Yay! All I need to do in there is a quick swish and the sink and the only 2 mirrors in the house are in there. But I need paper towels for that. It's the last room in the house that gets done before company at any time.
Put the one flyer I found into recycling.
Tidied the travel magnets on the side of the fridge.
There was one thing on the dressers in the bedroom that didn't belong, so that got put away. Bedroom is done other than my massive floor hotspot.
Moved the pen and sticky notes from my bedside table to my desk.
The only mess in the dining room is Mike's. Same with the living room other than the desk.
Let's see what other damage I can do in the next 30 minutes...
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.
Hello. Everyone got here and then got back home safely. Just impossible to post - did not turn on my computer yesterday.
((Cathy)) That's great you are finding energy.
Lynlee, I'm guessing you will have already had MRI when next you are online - not sure, but best wishes on long drive and the MRI.
((Mr. Emptynester))
I had a large group both weekend days, with all of dd33's family and ds and my green-eyed boy (ddil works weekends). We got a lot done together, really. We worked on decsion-making at my parents' house and got 3 tall kitchen garbage bags of trash out to the back porch. Lots of decisions on donations, too. I think there's definitely a bag of that. Ds specifically requested donations go to the Kidney Foundation, so we all agreed if someone had a preference, that's what we'd do. I'll get that bagged up later and will be ready when they call. Ds mowed at both houses and the kennel while he was here. Got some cute photos of boys with Grandpa and Sammie.
Ds was yawning and I asked about his night. Bad idea, because he told us. Stories of near-suicide, bicycle-against-car wreck and broken hip fall had me wincing and worried. Finally dd33 suggested he had a good point there in his habit of not telling Mom about his work.
We went to the fast & furious 6 movie today. Enjoyed it.
I got the 2 loaves in the freezer.
Cleaned the carport steps today.
Glad for the progress. Hoping to get more done on the kit. Tomorrow. I am boiling eggs for h. To have in his lunches.
