Good morning, villagers ~
Yesterday the thermostat in my office showed 60. Putting on a sweater didn't help, and I reluctantly turned on the furnace. I don't want to run it this early in the year, so I'm trying to convince myself that this is just a test to make sure everything will run when we really do need it later.

I forgot to turn the thermostat back down before bed so it stayed set at 66. I assume the furnace ran overnight but once I finally got to bed, I slept hard. Not long, but well. That's a good thing -- I know I'm still short some hours of sleep.

Today's trend is desk work. Need to finish reports for tonight's meeting. Tonight the sewing group needs to make final decisions for our Quilts of Valor sew-in to take place in less than 2 weeks, and choose dates for next year's activities.

Twins'Mom ~ Thanks for the reminders of tax returns due. Once again, in spite of all good intentions, I have procrastinated in finishing our state tax returns. I just confirmed that Iowa gives an automatic extension until October 31. (They make it easy ... too easy. Maybe if I had to actually file a form to get the extension, my brain would think that's too much trouble and I'd get them done in April with the federal!) I have too much going on this week, so will pull the file back out on Monday just to try getting them finished before the very last second. No promises, though. ;)

I also need to do the library group's Epostcard tax return. Fiscal year ended August 31st so I have more time, but I'd rather get rid of it before the next meeting.

Okay ~ Do LO's boots still fit well enough to have them mended? Maybe he's growing so fast that it's time for new ones anyway. There used to be an excellent shoe/boot repair shop in The Big City. That guy could fix anything. Unfortunately, he retired and it's one of those skills that is difficult to find.

Thinking of your family, Cathy.

((Lilac)) ouch, ouch! Hope you heal quickly. Glad your face didn't catch any of the trouble.

I am slowly CatchingUpOnPosts.

Harmony described yesterday how easily one falls behind on CUOP. Oh, I love Keeping Up Appearances tv show. As far as British humor, that one "is funny, I don't care who you are."

Today is master bath cleaning day here. I guess since it's been 6 weeks since our last Focus Cleaning week for bathrooms, I won't complain too much. But the reality is that it needs much more work than it should!!!! How does that happen!

I have a new shower curtain liner that will go up - happy about that. And I will be mending 2 of the little plastic hangars for it. HRH says buy a new track. No, no, no, that sounds like a new project, plus time and money! No new projects! I'll use white plastic-coated paper clips and defy anyone to notice them, hidden behind the outer curtain! ;) I predict they will last as long as the rest of the plastic ones.

No motivation today. I sat down and read for awhile.

Going to work to BOTH on a.m. routine and related routines.

Other thoughts for rest of day:
-Halloween/fall decorations outside
-trip to mall to return skirt
-need to get supplies to "Boo" neighbors with a front door treat
-what else?

Good morning everyone! Last night's errands were a success, got everything I need. I was not able to do the cooking I wanted to get done. It is hard to cook ginger chicken when one does not have ginger! I installed a new filter in the heating system, a washable one, should help with allergies. I did get stuff done on my FlyLady bathroom list: wash rugs, cobwebs, fan vent, baseboards, and light fixtures. The last one was a pain in the tailbone! I wanted to take the globes off to wash them and to take one to the hardware store to replace them (one broke a while back). ACK!!! The pieces holding them on had been stripped out by the previous owners. I may have to replace the entire fixture. After working with that one, I have decided that I hate it. The tiny bulbs are super hot, in addition to the stripped out pieces. I turned the light on for less than 10 seconds to see how many bulbs I needed to replace. That was enough to give me a serious burn on my finger. It was so bad that all progress stopped and I spent the next hour with my finger in cool water. I decided to take some Tylenol and managed to spill that all over the floor and into the cats tea bowl. I alternated between looking for pills and dunking my finger. It still hurts today, but it is better.

I found two spots of blood on the floor and examined all the cats, but I have no idea whose blood it was. I did not get a chance to dye the yarn, work on the insurance paperwork, or paint the ceiling. DD11 wants to spend the night tonight (YEAH!), but I am not sure if it is to see me or the new (still nameless) kitten. That means I won't get as much done, so I have split my list into today and tomorrow.

Today:
Homework (if any)
Take DD to pumpkin patch
Drain and cover swamp cooler (must be done while DD is around)
Dye yarn (not essential, but DD will probably like doing it)
Clean out box from car (must do, there is some paper I need somewhere in it)
Bible study
Trash to curb
Put away LOLs
FlyLady list

Tomorrow after Bible study:
Grocery store (again)
Cook
Insurance paperwork
Ceiling paint
Child support calculation
Quicken update
Try Chrome browser to access this site

Harmony: How do I contact moderators?

Kathryn: I think I do have Windows 8 at home. Like DeeClutter, I was able to post until a couple of months ago.

Okay: I will try the Chrome browser, I know Firefox didn't work. Then, I will try compatibility mode. And if none of that works, look into a Windows 7 emulator! I want my site back!

I'm alive.

Slept in a little bit. Was messing around with my tablet and noted it had upgraded the 'keyboard' and wanted to try it. Weirdly, Android doesn't have a built in notepad program so I downloaded a couple and tried to sync with my phone and confused the phone so badly I had to remove the battery and reset it. Thankfully, it is back to normal. For some reason Google books updated and I can't have books on my phone so that used up the last of my space causing the phone to get overwhelmed. (This is a very old Smart phone.)

Once that was fixed, I got to work on the reconciling of bank accounts. That's done now. I have two credit card accounts left to do and then I'm up to date. Checked our budget for the year and we are sort-of ok. Somethings are under, some are over. Vacation is WAY over.

Hmmm…. The trend around here seems to be lazy and tired. * sigh *

Thinking of all of you with particular concerns today… (((Dee)))…(((Cathy)))

Have I asked you before, Dee – what church do you go to? Council minutes sounds like Methodist to me. We do not meet every month, though. I think it is supposed to be every other month, maybe? But it seems to be sorta sporadic and random at times.

(((LILAC))) Oh my goodness!!! That happened to me once at college. Ouch, ouch, ouch!

Waving to Twins… need to call dmom and see how her tax situation is going.

OKay IS a great example this morning… I can report that I am s2s before noon… at dh’s request – b/c he is doing laundry and wants ALL laundry clean before we go to the nursing home tonight. He is so OCD it is not even funny. (I hid the dark brown top I wore yesterday, b/c he will wash it with something that will get lint all over it if I don’t watch him closely.)

I am planning to go get my allergy shot later. They will be closed for lunch until 1:00 pm, so there is no need to leave for at least another 30 minutes or so.

Waving to Nancy and dgkids!

Waving to BookSaverHarrietElizabethKathryn...

I need to talk to dmom also re: ds’s birthday. DS wants to celebrate w/pizza at grandma’s, and have my dmom join us there. We did that for dgs’s birthday, and I think it went fine, but I’m always so hyper-sensitive about making dmom feel we “favor” dmil. Dmom may want to do something on her own for ds, also, you know, and it is sooo tedious to schedule TWO celebrations, especially w/ds & ddil’s work schedules. So maybe dmom will be happy to let dmil host this one too. Why don’t WE just host it and go for “neutral” ground, you are rightly asking… well… dh prefers to have it at his mother’s, and of course, it is much easier on 91-year-old dmil this way. Just waiting to see how the cookies crumble next weekend anyway. Dsisil’s birthday is the same day, remember? Dmil is surely going to start asking questions…

RE: Boots repair. I just searched and found we purchased LO boots on August 3rd. He only wore them for church the first few weeks he had them but they are totally worn out already. The leather on the top of the boot is worn thin where LO scoots around on his knees playing which drags the top of the boot and wears it out. These were not super expensive boots (paid about $70) but I had hoped he would get more than a couple month wear from them.

Been working with DH on church business. He chooses to not be computer savvy so I do most of his keyboarding. We successfully set up online access to one of the churches bank account and printed out statement. Spent waaaay too much time/effort getting online access to churches other bank account. After 2 trips and 1 phone call to the bank we finally successful logged in......only to find they had given all our personal/MPB accounts access along with the church account. ***VBSigh*** DH is back at the bank now working with them to separate our accounts from the churches. I also formatted elder meeting document, wrote minutes and printed multiple copies. It took a few extra steps since I don't have access to printer on this laptop but all is done now.

Okay - am I remembering correctly that today was a deadline for DD? I have been thinking of you today and maybe that event is what triggered it. Just know that positive thoughts are coming your way from me.

Waving hi to all villagers!

Sidetracked again! I finished at BOTH and then made myself lunch - carb balance wrap with turkey, chipotle hummus, lettuce, roasted red peppers, olives.

I am going to change clothes and go out to do the return at the mall and get halloween supplies....
