Uhoh, Lilac just used the S-word!

(Normally, I get the first snow fall. YAY Global Warming!!! We've had a gorgeous fall so far.)

I'll be going outside in my pjs if I don't get a move-on. When I do, I hope to join any SHEs doing heavy housework. Logically, I should do that first before showering but I'm not very logical today.

Ds got to surf in a pink tutu today so he's pleased. That was one of the challenges his friends gave him to do. So he was at Surf Camp this week to learn how to surf so he could complete the challenge (after taking an afternoon last week to find a costume shop where he could buy a tutu since Australia isn't big on Halloween so costumes weren't readily available.) The first morning they were broken off into smaller groups and each told to pick a name. Someone asked "Does anyone have an idea?" and ds blurted out "The Ballerinas!" He then had to explain why ballerina was the first word he thought of when thinking surfing! They named the group the "Tumbleina Ballerinas" and told ds he had better succeed in the challenge or else they'd have s silly name for no reason. He was prepared to do his run yesterday but the waves were only 1'. Today, he got out there and it was well covered by the surf camp photographer. I note from the picture that he has his GoPro camera on so I'm looking forward to the video as well.

Morning y'all

Oh Kathryn I know how happy your son must be.

Here's something y'all don't know about me. I was the 1967 female surfing champion for my area. I started surfing in 1964. Back then the sport of surfing had just hit the East Coast beaches. At that time there were very few female surfers.

One day, my dad brought home two surf boards, one for my brother and one for him. I was insulted and asked..."where's mine?". My father never thought of me on a board. He let me use his and the rest is history. I was fourteen at the time when women didn't participate in many sports. My surfboard was a 9'8" Hobie which weighed 40+ lbs. Most people didn't think a girl could carry anything that large let alone ride it in the surf. Ha, I proved them wrong.

I spent the next five summers riding from nine in the morning till four in the afternoon. When I graduated HS I worked in a tile factory for a summer job. My hours were 7-3. After work I would drive to the beach and spend another hour or so in the surf.

I love everything the sport taught me. Once a surfer, always a surfer....be prepared Kathryn, your son's gonna be searching for the next big wave for the rest of his life....

So tell me y'all....what would I be surprised to learn about YOU????

Called dd2 and xsonil was able to rearrange his schedule to get dgs7 to the dentist and stay, so dgd17 nor I have to deal with it.

Wow, still snowing hard and now the driveway is almost covered. Dd2 took a picture of the 2 little girls in their driveway with the snow in the background. Both girls have the cutest smiles on their faces.

Kathryn, I absolutely love hearing about your ds's adventures in Australia. The challenges and the creative idea to surf in a pink tutu are making this a fun, memorable time in his life.

When our coffee maker was down I heated water put a twisty tie on a filter with coffee in it and made some that way a trick & came up with camping one time I had the whole family of inlaws intreagued at my invitation!

I'm here!! I'm here!!

We are attending a rally in Deming, NM and having so much fun that I just whisk thru here to CUOP and then don't have time to post.

Just had the business meeting and this afternoon we are off to the Pink Store (combo cafe/bar/Mexican decor stuff) in Palomas, MX. We will leave here at 2 and be back before dark. So no worries about being in Mexico.

We will leave here tomorrow morning for our house - about 2 1/2 days till home unless we get really eager. Then we will be home by Sunday afternoon.

Time to write my report about the Rally so I don't have that hanging over my head.

Cowinkie, I post so much I'm not sure there's anything ya'll don't know about me!

Twins Here's a sign I have too much stuff. If my coffee maker didn't work, I have two other ways of making coffee (not including instant) before I'd have to go to the campers method of boiling on the stove. BTW: neither dh nor I drink coffee!

I'm s2s. Stripped (the already made) bed and the sheets are in the washer now. Bedroom is tidied. Was feeling on top of things and started down the stairs (empty handed, thank goodness) and both knees went out. Great pain. Not a twinge upstairs. Now I'm having trouble with straight walking but it comes and goes.

My house has not been properly cleaned for months now due to these dang knees. I get a day or so in but never enough time to do the whole place at one time. Without a carpet vacuum right now, the upstairs is in a holding pattern but the main floor (only one area rug) needs vacuuming badly and the kitchen floor has numerous sticky spots so is beyond a simple sweep or even a sweep and a damp mop.

I'm in a really bad mood now.

Here's a bathrobe story that's true...was gonna post it for Halloween but seems to fit here...

Better idea...don't want to take up too much space so I will take it to another posting place...

I'll put it in the Cafe, under my daily inspiration place.

Well, I'm LOL at the picture of ds surfing in a pink tutu, Kathryn!! And to the extent I know you, Cowinkie, I can see you as a surfer girl, even when it was uncommon!! You seem gutsy and independent. You two are reminding me why I love this webiste!!

Oh, man, that whole house buying/selling thing sounds complicated, ((Lilac)). I'm not quite understanding how your dd's buying a house so closely involves you, though. I can't believe you're getting snow!! We're having sunshine and heading toward a high in the low 60s. I'm concluding that our area of Michigan is not really that cold after all. Many storms seem to go south or north of us, and we seem to have higher temps than other places, which I assume would be warmer. I was joking with a friend how there are times it seems like the cooler places are getting warmer and the warmer places are getting cooler.

I'm not sure you all would be surprised to learn much about me. I'm a pretty eclectic person in many ways, and I think you already know that. Hmmm.....I think my high school persona might be the most surprising. I've surprised current friends when I told them I was a math/science (spec. chemistry) buff in high school. If interested, ask how old I was when I took calculus. And see where that got me? I did run on the track team off and on, mid-distance (hard to believe considering how SLOW I am now).. . . Ah, but this may be the most surprising: I actually was a cheerleader for half a season my Sr. year -- but you have to understand the context: being a cheerleader was somewhat frowned upon by many kids in my high school. As way of explanation: this high school had/has pretty academically competitive admissions and was filled with academic over achievers who looked down on cheerleading - yes, the boys did too, more than the girls, in fact. Some of the kids in my class were actually irritated with me b/c I had broken our class' no cheerleader streak. Honestly, I was not a great cheerleader, but I had wanted to try it - so I did. LOL! There were no cheerleader try outs; they were usually desperate for warm bodies to be on the team, which was usually quite small. The jaws of many of my current irl friends now would probably hit the floor if they knew I had been a cheerleader. ;)

a.m. routine is still not done, but I have:
x had some study quiet time
x done a load of sheets; need to switch it now
x called all the references for the moms group child care workers

I am off to
- finish the a.m routine
- switch laundry
- look over tutoring lesson - I'm just tutoring the husband today. We didn't get to a lesson last time so I have pre-planned for this student. Also, I'm going to print out his email to me and use that as a teaching tool. And he'll want to tell me all about their trip to the UP (Upper Peninsula) last weekend!
- walk to shopping area to buy a couple cards and more of my make up base.

:D Good Morning and I'm SO GLAD it is FINALLY FRIDAY! :D

I had a great sleep. Will be laying low for a week or so. I was on the bed, sitting up with a pillow behind me, had to run to the bathroom, twisted to get off the bed to make a mad dash and pulled something in my belly. :o It's minor, but aggravating and DH and I think I have a small hernia, which has happened to him before and with taking it easier, they've healed in 1 - 2 weeks. I'm just taking things slower, sitting here aggravates it, too, so won't be on-line a whole lot for a few days. Just a few moments here and there.

I'm re-writing index cards/4 x 6" cards for my a.m. and p.m. routines. I got those done, so now I'm working on my work-job routine card, plan to do a FM-self-care card for painful days when I need to take better care of myself and will do a Conga Card for a list of things to clean once a week. I realize I can  spread them out over a span of a week, too.

I've lost 5 Lbs., too. :D That makes me happy! DH bought Halloween cookies, but they're the HARD CRUNCHY type, which hurt my teeth and I don't want to break off a tooth or gain any weight back so those cookies are HIS! :!:  :| :|

Have a wonderful Friday, Everybody! :D
