Monday Movement

I'm s2s, did 15 minutes on the bike, dusted the upstairs, cleaned our bathroom and did the ironing (unlike Lucylee, mine was just 2 handkerchiefs, I think dh has hidden the rest of my ironing pile so he doesn't have to wait to wear his favourite shirts.)

Facebook is working again for me. Ds arrived today(actually yesterday, my time) in Cairns (top right of the continent) and is about to start a 59 day adventure of driving down the east coast of Australia with 4 others. They have rented a camper van for this journey. Another of the group from Surf Camp is also up there (arrived on Sunday) but is up there to look for work. Her birthday is at the end of the week so ds has organized a party for her. One of his challenges was to attend a birthday party. Another was to go skydiving. So the group of them are going skydiving for her birthday and two more challenges will be marked as complete!

Wow, your ds is certainly having the adventure of a lifetime, isn't he? So adventurous!

Done with that round and going again. Energy is good, at least decent and maybe better so far today.

-clear kitchen table
-clear, straighten breakfast bar
-clear & wipe kitchen counters (after brownie prep)
-take out kitchen garbage

It is long, but worth watching through because she obviously knows the music, anticipating her favourite parts. As well, she's real (obviously because she is constantly saying hi to her daddy.)

Lucylee: don't worry, your dgs isn't behind (despite what you might think after seeing this video.) My ds didn't talk until after age 3 beyond da (for daddy) and day (for his sister), not even a word for me. As long as your dgs has appropriate responses to your talking to him (where's the doggy? smile!, come, etc.) I wouldn't worry too much.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OKAY!!!

I woke at 6 a.m. to a 4-hooter owl hooting over and over again! So much is the way of life in the forest. DH sleeps through everything because of no hearing aids in, unless he instinctively gets up to fix the fire in wee a.m. hours.

prayed

Plan to write a story(ies) by hand today and crochet on dgrson-4.5's afghan.

I'm back again. Rebooted everything I could to change IP addresses and this morning it worked.

We are home, as Dee told you. I will CUOP and come back later. Right now I have a bathroom to decorate and a MH to unload.

Sorry, Katherine, didn't see your link about our problem until I CUOP. I shut the site down (logged ofgf, shut the computer down, shut my Internet connection down. I did that twice and the second time the IP address was reset. Don't ask me why it didn't work the first time - except I did one yesterday and one this morning. I only know enough about computers to be dangerous - not enought to fix anything.

Glad MT is home with a new bathroom!!

Dh and I were going to go for a jog at 7:30 this a.m. - but then dh realized that he'd left his shoes at his office, his running watch and shorts too, but the shoes was the clincher. We went to Panera's for coffee instead. LOL!

a.m. routine is sort of half done. I have been sending emails and making phone calls, trying to coordinate (1) meeting with appropriate moms group leaders and church secretary and (2) baby J's baby announcement in church bulletin and (3) food drop off for S and R that didn't happen last night and (4) starting the process of scheduling moms group steering comm. meeting. I took a break and had lunch - 6 pts.

Next:
- start Hebrew translation work
- drop off food
- a.m. routine finished
- final emails organizing the 2 moms group meetings

I may not make it to the groc. store after all today; Hebrew will take me 2.5 - 3 hours, probably.

LucyLee - I agree there is no reason for concern with DGS not jabbering.

Sometimes I just sit and observe LO friends to see if they talk as much as he does. LO is definitely the most vocal. We are working with him to restrain his talking. It is exhausting to be around someone who talks excessively! DH and I sometimes stare at each other in amazement because LO talks even when he is by himself. It's like his mind won't stop and he vocalizes whatever he thinks. He can be quiet (church, school) but otherwise he can easily talk all the time. Sometimes I tell him "LO, my mind is tired and I'm not going to listen while it rest". He still talks............ Driving 8 hours with LO in the car last week resulted in putting my headphones on during the last few hours. It was hard for me to focus on the traffic and carry on a non-stop conversation. I appreciate his interest in learning and don't want to damper that zest. I am hopeful when he learns to read that his method of learning will evolve into a more quiet learning.

Phone is ringing more than usual this morning. I spent over an hour on phone with DMom. DMom loves to talk so I focused on being a good listener.

Yesterday I happened upon a good meat sale and ended up bring 32 lbs of meat home. I put 6lbs of ribs in crockpot and they turned out oh so good! We had them for supper last night and the rest of the ribs were divided into 4 freezer bags for future meals. The rest of the meat was seasoned, covered it in couple different types of marinate and put into refrigerator. Now that the meat is well marinated, It is ready to cook. The various kinds of beef and pork steaks will be grilled outside but I'm waiting on the wind to either shift or calm down firing the grill up. The last piece of meat is a beef roast which will be cut into strips and cooked/frozen in meal portions for fajitas and wraps.

Oh, I want credit for one more thing too: I finally got my teaching license registered! It worked!!! Yay!! --I may never use it again, but it is legal now.

Oh, yeah, about kids talking early or not. Doesn't necessarily mean a thing. Again, I'm probably a broken record - my favorite example is dnephew who was a very late talker, late in reaching most of his developmental milestones, actually. He ended up in med school at Oxford. They all do it differently. Dd15 didn't say much at all until she was 18 months old, and then she pretty much started speaking in complete sentences. She was saying "mine" much earlier than the other 2, which is understandable as the 3rd child.

Oooh, Kathryn, your news about ds often brings back good memories. I remember Cairns! Very pretty up there. His trip down the east coast with friends sounds like an absolute blast!!

We did the camper van thing in New Zealand. Dh says he will never do it again. Think days and days of narrow roads winding through mountains in a huge van that slept 6 and had very little engine power w/ 3 kids in the back while also driving on the side of the road to which we were not accustomed - though we had been in Australia for a month by that point. I thought it was all kind of fun. .. Undeniably stunningly beautiful at least. Though, when at dusk one day, we came to a long one-lane bridge where the railroad tracks overlaid the single lane, I was a bit perplexed . . . .Both directions of traffic + train all used the same narrow space on that long bridge. . . . I checked the road as well as I could, prayed, and drove as fast as I could. . . .

Sounds like LO is an extrovert, OK? An external processor?

OKay, I agree it can be exhausting when someone talks so much. When dkids are home, they sometimes get to me because they're chattering away and my mind is somewhere else being quiet.

I'm listening to a podcast from Tablet magazine with the writer of a new book about Fiddler on the Roof.

I didn't get to the breakfast bar counter or kitchen table but did get brownies done and challah rising. Another round and then I'll have lunch....
