Good morning, villagers ~

Last night's meeting went well. The restaurant was wonderful. I still have those *%#^! boxes of files to reorganize, and a few forms to file in January, but otherwise I am done with my duties as president. Treasurer is going to be so much less work I will finally be able to reclaim sewing time. That makes me so happy. It's awful for the leader of a sewing group to have no time to sew!

A huge change the new Pres & VP are pushing is to change the monthly meeting from Tuesday night to Saturday morning. They have been polling every member of the group to gather opinions, and appear to be getting a majority for the change. Although many are giving the same answer as I am: I'm not really in favor of meetings on Saturdays because that's a family day, but I'm willing to try for the good of the group.

They say, "But we're only talking about 1 Saturday a month." I just hate the idea of messing up the routine that DH and I have. Now that he's working so much overtime every night, I hardly get to see him all week.

The way they are talking, the "meeting" will become an all day affair. General meeting, lunch together, board meeting, open sewing time, scheduled classes if people are willing to pay a fee ... And as Treasurer of the group, I would be required to stay for a lot of it. I love this group of friends, but add in the three scheduled 3-day retreats and this is starting to sound like I'll be spending a lot more time with them than with my own family...

Plus, now that I think about it, that's taking away all of the personal sewing time that I just gained back. It's a good thing I usually have fun with these people. Oh, and I turned over the keys last night so I no longer have to be first one in, last one out.

Helia ~ Good luck with the ice storm. As long as everyone gets home safely, it can be fun to hide away from the rest of the world for a couple of days.

Kathryn ~ Could the boys string popcorn for the birds? It's probably too late, but they could bring craft supplies from their house to make decorations or Happy New Year cards for their family. I have a FB friend who has been doing very intricate paper snowflakes using designs from movies and cartoons such as R2D2, Dr Who's tardis, the Grinch's face. Apparently there are lots of free patterns online.

Twins'Mom ~ Thanks for the reminder about rereading Rebecca. I've been meaning to do that, too.

Booksaver, the snowflakes are a great idea! (My cousin has posted her FB pics of them.)

They are playing Lego now. Dboy11 just brought up a nativity scene he made from Lego. There's a bear and an owl ("I don't have the right animals") and Darth Vadar as one of the wise men!

I'm thinking of making up rise krispy and maybe some peanut butter squares, or fudge. They left their lunch at home so we'll have something like pancakes or grilled cheese.

Trying to reorganize and regroup.

Priorities for the day need to be board meeting, temple biz, holiday prep, and routines here at home. But OTOH, I can't spend too much time on home routines today. Tomorrow I meet with rabbi and go to old office to clean out, take home my stuff and make sure client stuff is disposed of properly.

The grandniece of the deceased coincidentally lives across the street from us. Very dysfunctional family, I'm not sure whether I should contact her. Very tragic, as a brother of the deceased also died in a plane accident in 1972.

Need to do something....anything to get moving and try to focus today. Very unsettled with stuff happening right now.

Trying to make the most of my day off.

Dh and dsonil are cleaning the living room carpet/hall/office together. Unfortunately the vacuum cleaner quit! I was on my way to W almart to buy a new one and dh said something to dsonil about it. He was pretty sure it was filters causing the problem. So bought 2 different filters for it -$30 vs a new vacuum. Needless to say this is turning into a full day's job.

I need to get cleaning on the front porch and the back screened porch. I can not believe the dust that accumulates here. Sunny, do you have that problem where you live? When dh moved the DVD 3-tier wicker basket, the dust was just lying on top of the carpet. Know things in the kitchen need to be wiped at least every 3 days, in not 2 (things like the oven door handles, coffee maker, etc.) The dust just is non-stop. Then when it's pollen season -yi, yi, yi. We have dust at our campground, but not like it is here.

Planned to go to dbil/dsil's this afternoon, but not sure that will happen. We'll see.

Bought picture frames for some copies of dh's and my picture. Trying not to let dd know I have them. Will send each of the dgks a wallet size for them to keep if they like.

Back to work.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Was a bit cool this morning, in the 40's but supposed to warm up into the 60's. DH started a wood fire up and then let it go out to take the chill off the house.

Been working on my budget spreadsheet, called the electric company to get their due date changed to a few days later because all these unexpected expenses have caused some havoc on my budget.

Work day for me. Tomorrow WM is having a catered meal from Rib Crib. They will come with food several times through the day. It's our Christmas meal for the associates.

Going to have some lunch and then take my shower.

Hello!

I had unexpected overnight company yesterday, but thankfully the guest bed was already made up with clean sheets & the beef stroganoff I was making for dh & I was plenty for all three of us. All I had to do was put out towels, spiff the guest bathroom a little & bring an extra blanket down from the attic. We had a nice relaxing visit after dinner in the living room with just the Christmas tree lights on.

Hi Sadie, how nice of WM to provide dinner for everyone!

Today my two main areas of focus are wrapping all the presents for kids & adults for our family get together, & writing up a grocery list. I also want to take some time & go through my "To Do Every Christmas" list. There are things I've done that can be checked off (cards are written & in the mail --yay!) & some small misc things still to do. Other than groceries, I need to buy a card for dh, a catnip toy for dcat & a squeaky toy for ddog.(If a toy makes noise she loves it ).

While cuop the other day someone mentioned plans & goals for January. Aaaaaaack! I haven't thought about those yet, but look forward to spending time planning on Dec 26th.

The Star Wars snowflakes were a hit. We did five of them.

We had initial pancakes for lunch (I put the batter into a squeeze bottle I have for that purpose and squeeze the batter in shape of letters.) The bacon I cooked up last week was reheated. Their dad can't have nitrates (they can) so they never get bacon at home.

They are now watching Netflix Christmas cartoons. Not a lot to choose from since they've seen a lot at their house. Mom should be here in an hour. I could look up youtube Christmas shows for them.

I still haven't even started in on the Christmas Eve bulletin.

Where am I?
Hmmm... kinda in a whirl, still... and even ds says I am putting myself in a dangerous position re: the possibility that I may be expected to host the gathering every year. * sigh * Well -- if it goes well, fine; if not, I may just put my foot down and say, "Okay, daunt's family (dcousin) took care of Thanksgiving, and our family took care of Christmas, so the next year, Thanksgiving rotates to duncle's responsibility and daunt's group can take Christmas, and our bunch will rotate off." This is crazy to think that with 8 houses available in the group, two people would be responsible for everything. But I know, in some families, that's how it goes.

I have vacuumed the carpets, and talked to ds. Babysitting dgs for an hour or two this afternoon. DDIL passed her test for phlebotomy (sp?)! That's a big hooray. DS still having trouble getting through healthcare website. That's a concern. I need to s2s. Did I say my mind is in a whirl? Oh look -- a squirrel!
