The only thing I've done is thoroughly screwed up. I just ran off Dec. 29 service on the Dec. 24 bulletin cover. So I have to drive back to the church supply store in the city and hope they have 100 covers to use for Dec. 24. Sigh... There's 90 minutes of my day blown and I have to do it now because of the storm coming.

Did get in to see the doctor and have the prescriptions ordered. The pharmacist was backed up so I'm going back later to pick it up.

Hugs all around. K in C glad you got into see the dr. To bad about the bulletin.

Dgd I s here today with a cough, came in pjs and later got dressed to do hen chores w/ me. New hens waited until I got the coop open lights off and a board for 'em to walk down yesterdays the just flew down. they are even more spoiled than the others I did not think that was possible!

(((Kathryn))), I'm glad you saw the doctor, got a prescription and I'm so sorry about the bulletins, too. When it rains, it pours.

Get Well Soon, to Everybody who is ill and under the weather, too.

I did this today, so far:
- s2s, dressed, did my hair, etc...
- Did breakfast, coffee, etc...
- Had QT, journal, pray, devo, etc....
- Called DD because a certain store had debit and credit cards compromised, where she shopped Black Friday.
- Got towels ready to set on a timer in the washer.
- Put make-up on.
- Wrote 2 patterns out for DH's cousin and emailed them to her.
- Worked on deleting reminders from my calendar.
- Did the peak flow meter, QVAR, and primed my rescue inhaler.

Plan to:
- Finish DD's infinity scarf.
- Deliver gifts.
- Put away groceries.
- Perhaps make myself an infinity scarf.
- Say hello to good friends.
- Sort the mail.
- Start reading a book, when it arrives in the mail today.

I'm wearing a nylon and spandex soft pullover v-neck sweater, which I get shocks from, when I touch metal, today. So far, no shocks. :!:

I'll try to be thorough today, by coming up with a good April story due on Jan. 17, 2014. I can't seem to get any creative ideas of yet. :(

Have a Thoroughness Thursday and Get Well Soon, for you who are ill, too.

I don't want them laughing about me behind my back later.

lucylee, that is about as likely as getting hit by lightning. These are nice people who are all fine with you. They are worried about their own clothes, their own preparations, the things they hope other family members don't ask THEM, etc. You are safe with them as family. They like you. They really like you. ;)

((Kathryn)) ((OKay)) ((lucylee)) ((Elizabeth)) and others who may be hurting or sick this morning.

ellyphant - I missed your bday! Happy belated birthday.

Gaming chat - Nancy, although I think gaming can sometimes become a time-waster, I have good things to say about it. First, there's plenty of proof that gamers gain faster reaction time, translating to better hand-eye coordination. That has applications all over our daily lives from driving skills to sports to general confidence. But also I have been pleased at different times to find that dd15's experience with gaming has helped her feel comfortable when faced with new technology in school or social situations. Last week a teacher introduced a gaming-based class activity and she mastered it quickly and had more fun (and more success) that day than other students. Technological experience is like music experience now - in social or educational areas, you want your child to have some confidence with it. Interactive software and games are being used for training purposes in so many career paths now. I think I read that the majority of US employees have had some form of software game-like training and that the number is growing. But sorry I can't find that info right now.

Made an appt tomorrow for estate stuff with the bank guy. (lawyer did not want this to happen until now) He hasn't called me back with a location yet (which branch can offer us an office space). Getting antsy about it. I know he and other bankers are the ones who do the work, I just sit there and sign things. But it's nerve-wracking to be unsure of where to drive, how long it will take. After my dmother's death, the appt took well over an hour, and frankly, mistakes were made.... (giving new acct a line of credit my ddad did NOT want, for instance).

At lunch now.

One of our thoughts was that I could use Christmas Eve 2014 bulletins for this year and then get new ones for next year. But we didn't buy any for 2014. So I picked up some nice ones for this year and two for Christmas next year (on sale for $2). Not only did I have a selection of full price ones with blank back (which is what I needed) I had a choice from the sale ones too. So that is done. Sigh.....

The drive in was pleasant until I got withing 5 long blocks of the store. Then it was stop and go. This restaurant is right across from the church supply store and I know a back way out of here after so may be able to avoid the worst of the traffice. I need milk too, so should remember to pick it up while I'm out.

It is at the freezing point today and dry right now so driving is very pleasant compared to this past week. But dire warnings about two storms, tomorrow and Sunday. So I'll be about 12 hours behind Booksaver's weather and colder so hopefully all will be snow, not freezing rain (although freezing rain is in the forecast for Sunday.

Edited to add: Just got word from dh that he'll be home an hour earlier so I'm skipping the open house for sure now. It starts at 7:30 but I'll have to leave at 7:50 to get dh from the airport.

I'm still decompressing at lunch but need to get out of here before the traffic gets any worse.

I'm trying to be thorough, really I am...

Kathryn, I'm sorry about your eye and the program error, glad to see you've got that all worked out.

I'm trying to get caught up on a bunch of things. Folded a LOL, hung another one out, got sheets done ready to put on bed. Dailies done. Thank you/Christmas card written and sent. Our committee head gave us all beautiful crystal angel tree ornaments at our party.

I ran out to bank, returned the one set of letter stencils DH didn't think was big enough, shopped at 3 other stores. Everything bought for Christmas except for that one odd gift I haven't figured out. Bought February B'Day gift I will leave up there and not have to mail from here a month later. Hmmm, I still need 2 birthday cards...

Bunch of work in the office done, helped DH with blueprint and proposal. We have another little job to do.

I'm having back pain, arthritis I guess, every time I go out and do a lot of walking. Took a pain reliever. I never had chronic pain like this until a couple months ago. Now it seems constant whenever I'm walking a bit.

Our committee is going to clean a house for a woman who just had a special needs baby and has been in the hospital. We offered meals but she said she needs cleaning done, so we are going to do it. It's a sad story, this is her 3rd special needs child and they are a young couple in their 20's. My own house isn't cleaned. But she probably needs it more than I do.

Bulletins are run off. I just have to fold and stuff them.

Drive home was easier, traffic was all on the way INTO the city for some reason. I guess shopping. I even remembered to stop at the party supply store (thank heavens for a red light right there, which reminded me!) and picked up plastic disposal plates for Christmas dinner. So another item off my to-do list.

They like you. They really like you.
Oh, Harriet! (((HUGS))) Thank you! :D I guess they do. And they certainly do all have their own concerns... w/one dcousin facing a long-distance job transfer, and one fighting cancer, one expecting a baby in less than 2 months, and duncle with his own little laundry list of reasons he's mad at the world... yeah, it is probably very true that "We wouldn't worry about what others think of us, if we realized how seldom they do."
Another cousin just pointed out that it will probably be good for all of us to have a "change of venue" this year, since it is our first Christmas w/out ddad.
Dfriend also pointed out last night that at least it wasn't "garden club" or something like that, where lots of times, ladies just enjoying critiquing each other's houses. Of course, it would be a sign of the end of times if I were to join a garden club. ;)

Unfortunately, I have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING today except dbaby care and talk to dcousin on phone. This dcousin is also facing several challenges and I think it was good for us to talk, but still... I'm getting very little done. Walked 2 miles outside w/dgrandbaby... noticed how the area around the back door needs cleaning. Dgbaby is still in his little flannel pajamas, b/c I thought he looked so cute and cozy. Temperatures are very mild outside today. I don't think it was too cold for him at all.

(((Kathryn))) Some days are diamond, some days are stone, right?

Have to say, Harriet makes good points re: video games, computer skills. It really has become a part of life today.

Oh my, thinking of Harmony's situation, the lady w/three special needs children. I cannot imagine the strength and energy this young mother needs. Good of y'all to go help out

Home again, home again, jiggityjig. I'm glad I went out. The weather and roads are really nice right now.

WM was busy as expected and took a long time, but everyone was considerate. I do like our WM, everyone who works there does a good job, but it always takes a long time. Sometimes I just need to run in somewhere and grab a couple of things quickly, thats why I usually end up going to Aldi.

Today I had a long list, though, and was glad to find it all at WM. Hopefully I didn't forget anything -- I'd like to avoid all stores now until after Christmas Day.

I was hoping that the weather site would have delayed tonight's advisory, like until midnight. Unfortunately, they are still saying freezing rain starting at 6 PM and urging everyone to not drive.

I'm annoyed that the library board has not cancelled the meeting that starts at 7. The agenda items are not worth risking anyone's safety, especially volunteers.

Oh well, I'm staying home. I still have the Lord of the Rings DVDs to watch, and they're due back Saturday by noon so I'd better get to the first one tonight.

Lucylee ~ I bet your family will get a kick out of your refrigerator photos and will laugh with you, not at you. If anyone makes a comment about the pantry, tell them you wanted to make sure you had room for the Christmas party supplies so you didn't buy anything else. I think what you listed sounds normal and plenty. Harriet is right, everyone will either be worried about their own stuff or having too much fun visiting to do a white glove inspection.

Did you ever see Gilmore Girls? That show had a character named Taylor who was a nosy, fussy old man. Your description of your uncle reminds me of Taylor. If he dares to say anything negative, just brush him off and tell him you aren't going to worry about anything at Christmas, you're just going to enjoy having all the family together in your home.
