HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, MR & MRS LILAC!!

Good morning! (Afternoon)

We're just cold here... no snow/ice/etc. And I don't mean we're cold in the house -- no electricity problems or anything like that -- we're fine. I just don't want to poke my nose out the door. Yesterday, I slept just about all day long. I think my body is preparing for babysitting duty.
I'm not going to have dgs today -- the winter storm was so bad south of here that ballgame dh wanted to go to was postponed till tomorrow! So tomorrow, I will have dgs while dh & ds go to college town... then Friday dh & I will have dgs while ds & ddil go to a music event... and then Saturday, dh thinks he & I will be going BACK to college town for another ballgame. This sounds a bit exhausting to me... but we shall see.

I did manage to exercise last night. That was about it for my accomplishments.

Sooo glad I am not a teacher who had to spend the night at school w/students stranded in this storm.

Sunny and Twins' Mom, I'm glad you found something interesting in those links.
I've added The Printable CEO's (David Seah's) free helps to the Links section of our "Household Notebook, Planner and PocketMod" Forum. As far as the PocketMod hack there, it's not quite as helpful, but cool to consider. Need to study this a little more to see if it could be valuable as a link in Cardfile Central. My new computer is not yet interfacing with our printer, so I can't just experiment as easily as usual. David Seah now sells some of his pages in sticky form or notepads as well, on Amazon.

Yet another sidetrack happened to dd15, who followed a link from The Printable CEO to Mike Rohde of SketchNote, and is studying his methods of taking notes on meetings/lectures/classes. Her teachers sometimes think she isn't paying attention in class because she doodles, so she's considering his ideas of incorporating sketches right into the notes.

Ds28 reports a difficult morning for firemen. He stayed over 3 extra hours after his 24-shift was over to try to help the next shift. Traffic situations galore, but also difficulty accessing medical calls, complicated by 2 response vehicles stuck briefly. At this point he is home and playing outside with dgs.

I just hope tomorrow morning won't be worse, with even less powder consistency and more iced-over melt.

Done with phone call and that round of stuff but never got to linen closet upstairs. Had lunch, filed some papers, have been puttering. Have been mesmerized by ATL coverage. Need to email ds to find out what he wants me to do about his winter coat and suit.

Starting at the TOTH:
-upstairs linen closet 15 minute shift
-upstairs playroom 15 minute shift
-15 minutes in garage, I hate that the recycling isn't being picked up today!

Ddogs need a walk - waiting until temp is at its highest hopefully. Twenty one degrees now...

So glad to read everybody in the village is ok so far. It's only gone up 2° today so we're still grey and drizzly. I'm glad it isn't ice or snow.

I must look at Harriet's links. I still do lists, myself.

Been keeping busy. Folded laundry, dishes, more paperwork - organizing files mostly. Now I've begun filing the last bits from 2013 and then pulling them from the file drawers for more permanent storage. I guess I'll get back to that.

Now how in the world did I miss Mr. Helia's birthday yesterday? I was sure we had nothing until today. Guess I better double check my quick peeks! Wish him a happy birthday, Helia.

Ooooh, Mr. Helia is having a birthday! (I seem to recall Helia's prep for the surprise party!)

Wow, 15 minutes in each area means I pull out a lot of stuff that I need to finish up in another round. Kind of forces me to get back to it. At this point dh can't get his car into the garage but OTOH he's not getting back until Sunday evening. My nose is running from the dust! I have a bunch of dkids stuff from elementary school (framed art projects, other arts stuff and memorabilia) but I did a "School Days" scrapbook for each from K to middle school maybe? I need to check the scrapbooks then turn some of this stuff loose. I'll photograph some of the art perhaps. I do have some "tulips" from preschool framed and I was going to keep those for the upstairs hall by their rooms.

Just checked on a medication drop off point in my city and there's one at a police station nearby. I have a big bag from dmom's and also decluttered some older meds here this morning.

Sharing for anyone not on Facebook - I posted there a link to a snow photo here, and dh's not.so.dsis just has to do me one better.

Try being up here...we got about 6". Yuck

Always has to top whatever is said. Quite annoying.

Next I need to regroup and walk ddogs - at 25 degrees it's not likely to get much warmer....

Yes, thank you! Dh's birthday was yesterday. He is now a semi centenarian. I had to look that up. . . Can't believe he is 50. I think he can't believe it either. Yes the surprise party is Saturday night. We will be home having his family celebration with S and R and ds - and a group of people will show up at our door. I think about 40 - 45 people are coming. I'm kind of wondering what on earth I've just done. . .

Yeah, that is an obnoxious habit, Twins. I thought the photo was beautiful!

We are having a clean sunny day, btw. Tomorrow will get into the 20s - and that feels like a heat wave! Funny how our perspective has shifted.

x J to day care
x devo time
x WW up 1.1 lbs after not weighing in and not exercising for 2.5 months. Not as bad as it could have been.
x party store - supplies for the party. I put the bags in dd18's room, which is the last place where he'd look

x home for lunch
x finished groc. list
x groc. store
x put everything away - except for 30 rolls of TP (now Kathryn knows where I'll put that) and wrapping paper
x emails

Having a cup of tea and some popcorn. 9 points for the day so far.

I need to pick up baby J in 1:45. Before then, I'd like to:
- finish a.m. routine - tidy kitchen, make bed, start lol
- gather towels in the house to be washed
- start laundry
- make corn bread
- start rice cooker
- maybe start the red beans

That list is probably too ambitious.

helia's family is famous for celebrating birthdays without concern for whether the calendar agrees, but at the time that is best for the family. I like that. So I'm sure she's fine with us sending belated wishes.

Twins' Mom, also Sadie once mentioned here that she was having to deal with a relative like that. I knew I'd told her my mother's peacock story, so I went looking for it.

My dmom used to call this the peacock syndrome. In her early teaching years, there was a little boy in her (40-child) first grade class who would not let the other children have enjoyment at show and tell. No matter what they told, he loudly announced that he had something 10 times worse/better/bigger/richer. She said that one day when another little boy was excited to show his pet parakeets, the class really oohed and aahed. So the loud little boy, very upset to lose attention, announced that he had 20 PEACOCKS in his backyard, so a parakeet was nothing.

I have no idea what you can do with that story, but maybe it will make you smile to know I thought of it when hearing about your in-law lady. Perhaps when she next tells a 10-times-bigger story, you could imagine her with 20 peacocks in her back yard.

LOL! Yes, we are famous for that, Harriet. I love that story! Aren't some people out there just like that? Like the friend I've mentioned here with whom I can't talk about my ds b/c her own ds the same age is just more whatever than my ds is. .. Fortunately, I have other friends who are not like that. And she is a great friend in countless other ways. . .
