Happy Groundhog Day!

Hi everyone!

It snowed here for hours and hours yesterday. I did the safest thing under those conditions. I got in to bed and read for most of the day.

I have paperwork to be done today.

I haven't walked Dmacs and haven't been to grocery. I didn't expect dh home until late afternoon or early evening, but he will be here by 2 p.m. perhaps. I'm going to get garage ready so his car can pull back in. I'll get groceries when I pick up Moe around 1:30ish and I'll walk both boys when I get home.

yesterday i asked the question about money for food. I had to lol when I saw the lobster tail. I had to laugh because I forgot I thought she said 15.00 for the whole thing - we had never had it i thought it would be a nice splurge. Boy was I shocked. lol

bw2, I'm impressed that you even attempted cooking/serving lobster tail. I'd have to do an extensive online search to figure out how to prepare it!

Heading out now....will dump off a bunch of empty boxes, corrugated stuff in a dumpster in neighborhood, then to grocery and to p/u dMoses.

the fish lady told me to put olive oil/s/p on it and place in the oven - I forgot the temp. my brother has it every new years so I will ask him.

Church was nice today - I made a lot of notes. Was thanked for one of my get-well cards. Did not know our music leader could play the piano, but she did so for some special music today. This brings back to 3, in my mind, the number of pianists in our church. I had thought we were down to 2 when our minister's son graduated seminary and began preaching elsewhere. When a bounty. Back when I was worship coordinator of the other church, we were constantly skirting the edge of having no one to play, and I would scramble to find help.

Kathryn, I enjoyed catching up with all your adventures! I am assuming with Ken having such a good time he must be over his struggle with hives? Dd says the important photo is the one of rubbing noses, because that's the one you'll need to convince people to believe.

helia, glad the party was a success! I hope he knows he is appreciated.

My cooking is limited, but I think you all already know that. I've had a lifelong struggle finding creativity in something that immediately disappears. I had a repertoire of 7 to 10 entrees for our family when my older children were young, and rotated them. We seldom went out because we were kinda poor, frankly, plus our area just didn't have many places to eat. My late dh's philosophy was that children ate what was placed before them, btw. So if it was liver and onions night, it was liver and onions night, and that was that.

The early part of my marriage to HRH was dotted with disappointment that he didn't like - or sometimes shouldn't eat - what I was planning for supper. Once in a painful (for both of us) burst of honesty, he even told me he didn't like my biscuits as well as the canned biscuits he'd gotten used to in bachelorhood. In the Carolinas, and certainly in my maternal family of fine biscuit-makers, that's like saying you don't like air - I almost didn't grasp the language, lol. Thankfully, he likes my cornbread better than any he's ever had, so our marriage was saved. Now I have another small group of meals I make that we all enjoy, he has a small group that he makes, and we go out, since we now have a restaurant on every corner if we bother to drive 10 minutes.

HRH's philosophy is that no child should ever eat a bite they don't want, so that's also quite a difference. He will allow the grandboys to simple change their minds about what they are eating and cater to them, IMO. That's how they got squirrel eggs the last time they were here for breakfast and unhappy with my offerings. He said, what if Grandpa makes his secret squirrel eggs recipe, they were intrigued, and so the same eggs that I had already offered had to be scrambled by Grandpa before they could possibly be eaten.

I'm up for the day but slow moving. It is rougher out so I'm thick as I fight motion sickness and melancholy.

I'm not happy because I have reached my 'away from home' limit and just want to go home now. Seriously, seeing ds for a day would be enough and I'd happily head home. Sadly, this is not to be. 2 full days until Sydney, 2 days in Sydney and then 8 in Wellington and one in LA. So I won't be home for another 11 days (12 by your count but I have the date line to deal with so get one day really, really, long day on the 14th.)

My longing to go home is all I can think of right now.

Dh took a video yesterday and I was in it, walking away from the camera, quickly. There is no doubt I'm medically obese now. Sigh....

K in C the weather at home is so wintry.
We are in for another week of the cold stuff here.

I got hens to pasture next door the just follow me now I do not have to bribe them w/feed. Time to think about fixing lunch omlettes.

Dishes have been rinsed, bed is made.

d harriet I understand about the husbands choosing the non home made stuff. My dh loves canned soup... I grew up with home made soup from my grandmother who was an amazing cook. But dh grew up eating lots of canned or dried foods and to him its a taste he loves and grew up with.

because I cook for others who are seniors I have to cook to their tastes or they don't eat - not out of rudeness - but sometimes its hard to get what we like and doing another meal for others
