Sorry LO is sick again. Congrats on the new car.
Where did the water freeze, Sadie? Are you on a well?
Dee, hope they can fix DH's problem.
I don't know about fun around here. Not fun with DH in workaholic mode and me stressed and tired. Oh, well. I keep plugging along.
Made a big pot of chilli this morning, it's cooking away. 3/4 of the big stock pot full, I'll have some for the freezer. Going to work in the office, do some filing (a lot actually) and organizing and will also type up my minutes from the other night before I forget what my notes are all about.

Re: FRIDAY FUN
Good morning, all!!!
Must post and run b/c we are supposed to be picking up ds/ddil/dgs @ 1:00 -- going to a music thing w/them. That will be several hours' drive away, so I am hoping dgs is up for this, LOL!
Lilac -- we did enjoy The Monuments Men. It's a good movie. Of course, I could probably just watch still photos of George Clooney on the big screen for two hours and be quite pleased, LOL, but dh enjoyed the movie also, and remember, he's the former history teacher, so is very critical. Of course, as with all "based on a true story" movie, I've read that they did take some liberties w/the truth, but it's still a great story.
(((LO))) Hope he feels better soon, OKay!!!

Re: FRIDAY FUN
Elizabeth, could you pull a slightly mean trick on the cats and close that door before the prospective new family arrives? Or carefully extract just the kitties you would like to meet the prospective family, before arrival, and let others stay in the bedroom where they are comfortable?
Lilac, that was a nice thing you said about wanting to be sure you could keep in touch with us while on vacation.
Sadie, I'm glad you have family around you to help you, and generally figure out these things. Losing water can be such a difficult thing.
That's a good car philosophy, OKay. HRH is having car-shopping thoughts.
Nancy, we recorded that BBT one but haven't seen it yet. It's a treat for this evening, I think. Maybe that will be some FUN for the day for HRH, since he had to be sensible this morning and put up with medical stuff.

Re: FRIDAY FUN
Dgd is on her way and babyn will be here in a bit
so this is a full day.
I have snow removal duty done.
Eggs have been gathered & hens fed.
Now I need a plan for lunch.
Snow plow just went by and graveled our street.
Dgd is here, playing with the baby we've made muffins will be at least part of our lunch plans.
H. Has settled in with a movie.
18* current temp. Hi. 28* low 21* one and a half inches of snow here & blue skies over head now.

Re: FRIDAY FUN
Got everything done around here that I wanted. Office is still a little bit of a mess, but it's an organized mess behind the closet doors and in the file cabinet. DH has a lot of "in process" stuff sitting around.
Ran down and picked up my tax package. I'm not surprised, knew it would be bad. I came real close in my estimate to how it turned out. CPA agrees with me, this area has not come up out of the mire at all. The growth, etc., we keep hearing about is not here. He told me even a local hotel was sold, they got $10 million less than they wanted. Most of the trades people he knows are out of business. Anyway, we have a few things in the works now so maybe this year will be better.

Re: FRIDAY FUN
Popping in. Having a snack. A couple weeks ago, I bought PB2, a powdered low cal peanut butter that one mixes with water and has 45 calories per 2 Tbs., and it is working very nicely for my cravings for peanut butter. I'm now at 11 points for the day, even after having had some peanut butter on crackers (rice crackers).
It is a seller's market here, Harmony, at least in terms of homes. Dfriends, the physics profs, have been trying to buy a house for about 6 months now. They don't make decisions quickly and, as a result, regularly have homes bought out from under them. They're also claiming housing prices here are just as bad as in Berkeley, CA where he worked before - and without the charms of a nearby ocean and mountains. They're a bit frustrated by the whole process, really. (I don't personally believe we are as expensive as that area of Calif. . . ) ((HUGS)) Hope this year is a good year for the business!
My day:
x out the door at 8:30
x Panera - pick up bagels and coffee
x moms group steering committee meeting
x hugged, chatted, and prayed afterward with a young mom whose dh went to the ER with back pain which they thought was due to shoveling snow -- and the MDs found either a lesion or a mass (it's not clear. . .) on his ribs and are now sending him to an oncologist. Hoping and praying that is just a precaution. They are way too young to have something like that in their lives. They have one 2yo ds, who was borderline going into the ER himself the same night with severe croup.
x home - lunch
x prepped for tutoring
x tutored 2:45 - 4:20-ish
x got dd15 to synchro practice a little before 5
x had a snack; posting here
I need to start dinner soon - just leftovers. I hope to go see a dfriend speak at our women's ministry evening tonight. I don't usually go to these monthly Friday night events; they're not really my cup of tea, can't explain why - I guess for the same reason I don't tend to thrive at women's church retreats. Actually, I tend to avoid large groups of women in general, except for the moms group -- b/c its culture is just different, very open and honest, unassuming, going deep in discussions and relationships, etc. Friday is not a great night, either. Anyhow I'm going to try to go tonight to support dfriend.

Re: FRIDAY FUN
Dgson is working on annotating what the heck is that.
I dd & I were both wondering; I had the baby here so did not have the opp. To look it up until today. So I learned something.
H. & dgd are playing checkers.
Hens light is back on I have fed them we took a chicken walk. I need a plan for dinner. H. is eating some of the stuff he was not up to earlier in the week for lunch.
More snow (2" more) might be headed our way.

Re: FRIDAY FUN
checking in.
another COLD day for us but water stayed on. Dsons found an area where animals had torn the insulation off pipes and that's where it froze. The most wonderful sound is water running in your sink and shower.
Inactivity can make you feel so down. Will be glad to go to work tomorrow and feel productive. But I do see progress on my arm and shoulder so the down time is helping. Able to do a few more reps of exercises. I knew the long recovery time would be hard to do. Keep telling myself that compared to my whole life, it is just a very short period of time. 4 weeks down and 8 more to go with the sling.
Watching Numb3rs on Netflix, Getting to see shows I never got the chance to watch.

Re: FRIDAY FUN
OKay, Sorry LO is sick, but congratulations on the new car. Hope LO gets well soon.
Harriet, Hope all turns out well for HRH.
Sadie, We've also had frozen water problems earlier this winter. It's not fun. Glad you had family to help. It's too bad the animals tore the insulation off the pipes.
Nancy, I hope you're not inundated with a lot of snow!
Quick CUOP: I saw my dfriend with memory problems today. I talked SO MUCH SO FAST, I almost needed my inhaler for becoming light-headed!
I talked 1 1/2 hours, it was wonderful, and we sure enjoyed ourselves. Decided to make them a Valentine's collage card, to say I'll try to come visit mid-month every month. Dfriend loves my visits so much, I enjoy lots of laughing, and it's good to get out. Dfriend's DH gave us 2 Clydesdale's' large calendars with huge day boxes on them. So festive in red as the MC.
My back's a bit sore from sitting at dfriend's home, although we got up and looked at afghans in the closet, her quilt on her sofa and things in her spare room/office. She used to be quite the seamstress. They loved the 3 dishcloths and 1 scrubbie, too. I taught her how to use their phones, as they were complicated to her. I told her "Green for go and talking and red for stopping the conversation to hang up."
She was appreciative.
The last night's snow forecast didn't appear. I slept rotten. Kept dreaming dreams of my deceased adoptive dad and my deceased step-father. They were lovely dreams, too. I loved them, woke up missing them both, but it interfered with my sleep. So I've been on the sleepy side today.
It was so nice to laugh and laugh with Dfriend.
They were getting ready for a clam feed at their home with an adult daughter, grand-she and the daughter's boyfriend.
I guess that's all for me, since I'm pretty tired and my mind seems a bit on the "fuzzy" side. I'll try to make Valentine's cards this weekend to mail on Monday, to surprise a few friends/neighbors. ♥
OH! My dfriend/neighbor (another one), stopped by our home before my visit with my other dfriend. She gave me a Valentine's card with a thank you note inside it, thanking me for the "scrubbies" I made her Dmom and herself. She gave me a tall clear glass with Valentines all over it and a short glass with a votive candle in it, with Valentines on it, too. I then gave her an electric wax aromatherapy set with waxes because I can't use them because of my allergies and asthma. They were new, were a gift, but I never used them. She was SO HAPPY, as she uses aromatherapy things and candles all the time. It was nice to bless her because she blesses me with her friendship. ♥ We're fortunate to have such nice neighbor-friends here. I'm so happy with them.

Re: FRIDAY FUN
Just lost a post DANGIT!
It is 8 pm and my day is shot. I just now got onto the computer to start the job search stuff. I won't bore myself by retyping today's comedy of errors, but let's just say it should be Friday Phone Frenzy for me. Here is what I still need to do (YIKES!):
File unemployment claim for last week
Resumes (4 definite, 1 maybe)
Get list of ABQ area engineering firms
Get list of ABQ area government contracting firms
Bible study (just some, not all)
Balance checkbook
Pickup (den, some kitchen, MBR)
LOL fold, put away (also previous LOL)
The first 4 are non-negotiable, they must get done. BBL, probably late.
ETA: Why? Why? Why is the unemployment claims computer only available from 4 am to 7 pm? Isn't the point of having things like that computerized so we can access it ANYTIME?
