Wow, kudos to you Elizabeth.. You are a great friend! Yes - I chuckled at this statement and completely know what you mean:

I talked to her and petted her, but I have no idea if that would make a chicken feel better or worse.

I think my 2 hens know my voice and will call/cluck/squawk to me when they see me sometimes. Especially if they are out of food. They don't seem to particularly enjoy being petted, though.

Glad to hear LO is doing well, OK. I haven't caught up with how Harmony's dh is doing. My dad's rotator cuff surgery Tuesday went well. I've been in email contact w/ my parents a couple times since. Immediately afterward, his pain had decreased. He must have been in a lot of pain. . . One armed functioning for a while.

Will try to post later. T hings are busy here -- good busy. Yesterday, I tried to finish book club book, did routine things, picked up 2 girls at 2:30 (since dd18 had to stay after for a make up exam), took dd15 to rehearsal with her accompanist at 3:30, tutored at 4:30 - but got there late b/c dd15's accompanist ran late. I was home by 6:40 pm. Then, I took the girls out to eat. Then, I was off to book club, which started at 8 - but I got there at 8:30. Home around 10:40 pm.

Quick ci: before the baseball fanatic commandeers the computer...

I have lots of high hopes for the day -- well, I have lots of NEED TO DO's, rather -- but my hopes are kinda disintegrating. I will have dgs later this evening and I'm still really tired right now.

Need to do's:

[ ] call dmom

Re: dmom's birthday (which was March 1st, remember) -- I am going to call her and tell her we will be by her house at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. She can accompany us to steak house or not; we are delivering her birthday present, either way.

Soooo glad to hear LO is doing well, and (((HUGS))) for the guilt trip from his great-grandma's, OKay.

I checked in REALLY late Thursday night -- sorry if this re-run is unnecessary -- but some thoughts I wanted to make sure y'all saw:

Ooohhh.... (((helia)))... re: dd18 -- yes... senior-itis. Remember my theory: We get to be pregnant 9 months so we won't fear childbirth; we get to have a senior year so we won't fear the empty (or in your case, shrinking) nest. Your children always sound so wonderful -- and I am sure everyone who knows dd18 feels that way still -- except possibly you, at the moment. Perfectly normal. This too will pass. (((More hugs)))

I know when y'all look at my duncle/dmom thread you'll think I'm just making excuses, too... * sigh * But I really do feel my hands are tied somewhat. She is perfectly capable of getting herself to her family doctor and the ob-gyn on her own; I offered to go to the ob-gyn with her and she said no, no need... and it is VERY difficult to talk to family doctor w/out an appt. When one HAS an appt, one is at his office for HOURS. The wait time is unreal. If he were not such a wonderful, kind, loving person, none of us would put up with it. But... I hate to go behind dmom's back, too.
Anyway -- she did sound good this morning... (or rather, around 1:00 pm) and dbro talked to her later in the afternoon and said she sounded normal, too.
Maybe we're just in the normal up-and-down of grief, and I shouldn't let duncle upset me so.
(She didn't sound so good yesterday, though, after straining her back.) Shaking my head...

I bought my first bag of Gimbell's Cherry candies today! Oh my... yes... they are sooo good.
I am increasing my vitamin C intake and, sadly, my weight.
Took dgs in to look at the baby chicks at T ractor S upply. (That was the excuse, anyway. )

And Elizabeth -- bed at 3:00 am, up at 3:00 pm... sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Elvis Standard Time. If only we had Elvis' money and staff to go with it. (My ddad would be sooo quick to assure me that this sort of daily routine contributed to Elvis' downfall, and will soon lead to ours, btw.) (Along with giving us wrinkles.)

I'm in the 'knee' category with you Kathryn. Surprisingly it's my left knee. Dozed off in the chair with my feet on a hassock on Thursday and woke up with my knee hurting. It's always been my right knee that I couldn't put weight on. So I'm befuddled as well. I could barely hobble and definitely couldn't do stairs at all. Stopped over to dbil/dsil's yesterday and didn't even go in as there's 6 steps up from any entrance. It even hurts just sitting. However, it is some better than Thurs. Been trying to sleep with it elevated. Have no idea what I did. Still can't walk very well, but am at least getting around. Didn't even go in to work at the church yesterday.

Want to get some work done on my taxes today. Dh had breakfast with the men from church this morning and then measured up a space at church that needs a covering. He and dsil went to the flea market when he returned home. Next he has to return a light fixture to L owe's. Going with him to pick up a birthday card for DD -her birthday is today, so guess that makes it a birthing day for me! She's a wonderful dd for sure. She's not even here today -she's officiating a wedding (as a Notary -can do that in FL) about 2 1/2 hours from here. A very 'black tie' wedding. Wedding's not until 4 so almost doubt she'll come back tonight.

Going to try to sort out my papers for tax prep and then take another rest with heat on my knee.

Think I'm jealous, LucyLee. Can't find them at any tractor supply I've been to. There is another one, but I'm not sure they're the same thing.

Does anyone else have a husband who always,, always, always needs 2 to 3 hours to get out of the house?? I thought today would be a great day to drive down to St. Catharines/Niagara on the Lake to look at a few houses we have in mind, based on how they look on the real estate websites. We have been UP for over 3 hours and he still isn't ready. Can you hear me yelling inside my head??

Unfortunately, I think I'm the spouse here that needs time to leave the house!

I ended up doing 40 minutes on the treadmill but very slowly. That should have been 2 miles but was only 1.3 so that gives you and idea of how slow. I had computer stuff to do and it made sense to do it while walking gently. Knee had settled down and stayed that way.

I'm now dressed. Ate up some veggies for my lunch but will need something more (or a very early dinner.) I'm still missing soda and we are now over 10 days into Lent. The rest of the weekend will be harder because I'll be out of the house and at restaurants so often.

Next challenge, continue with the laundry. Two loads were done yesterday and the two have been through the washer today but one needs to be folded and the other put in the dryer. Will go do that and then refill the vitamins, a Sunday chore but I won't have time tomorrow.

I still have to work through the technical music side of my sermon. I've selected the two recordings. One has to be shortened and then both have to be put on my mp3 player and I have to figure out how to broadcast that in the chapel. Probably just using laptop speakers.

Kathryn and Dee, does the weather make your knees ache more?

Elizabeth, BWTG taking care of the friend's chicken. I wouldn't have had a clue what to do.

Twins, glad to read Macs doesn't have any further problems. How old is he now?

Lucylee, thanks for the offer. Noone can do anything for us right now. It's all up to DH to take it easy and cooperate.

Today he puttered around outside and I just have to get used to him using the 3-pronged garden hoe as a leaning pole as he pulls out some weeds. He didn't stay out a long long time and came in and went back to bed. I'm happiest when he's resting, because that's what he's supposed to do between his times of exercising.

I slept in, slept and slept and slept. I was aware that it was pretty late, but just stayed in bed till DH had to get me up to write a payroll check - at 11:00 or so. But today I've felt better than I have since February 17th when he went in the hospital.

I used up some leftover chicken and made chicken salad and coleslaw for lunch. Then I got turkey meat and broth and chicken broth out of the freezer and made soup for dinner and cut up strawberries and a papaya from our tree to eat also. Went outside and brought in another big bowl of broccoli and watered the 4 citrus trees. I've been watching TV and reading my book too. How "settling" that feels.

Boy, it smells great in here. Time to go put in the noodles.

Some, Harmony, but I've never had anything quite like this before. Knee is very sore & just hurts no matter where I position it. It is better than Thursday night, but still not very good. And dh wants to go to Fantasy of Flight this week before he leaves. It's closing April 6th for good. I just know I can't walk around like this. Stairs are impossible -having trouble just getting down from dd's front porch and that's only 1 higher step and 2 smaller ones. I'm wincing at the thought of trying to fix dinner for dh, dsil & myself.

How's Mr. Harmony doing? You're on my mind a lot. Amazing how much this little village means to us IRL.

Suppose I'd best go look in the fridge. Can't imagine anything that's going to be easy.
