I am in a mood this evening. Too much socialization and everything and everyone on my last nerve.

My gum/teeth/jaw? is hurting again. My back and gluteals are aching, probably from a trip to ATL in the back seat today. Kids are home and making a mess, which is getting on my nerves and dh's.

Last night we were at a big birthday party. I was up at 7:15 so we could go to ATL in the rain.

Sorry for the rant. Tomorrow will be better!

Waving to all.

Its summer here today again despite any inkling the calendar may have. Currently 34c/93f inside. Last night it had trouble getting below 29c, and was 28 already before 8am. Maybe its no wonder winter is still handing around over there. Last week my state had 2 tropical cyclones. None of this is that unusual. We have had hideous hot weather the week before easter in the past, and a cyclone for easter another year in the early 70s. The south (alps?) had snow for Christmas - in last couple of years so I guess all bets on what the weather wants to do, when, could be off.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat.
Can't control the weather. Maybe I should have called the thread unseasonal Sunday.
Possible storms later.

Prayers and breakfast done.
Back from yoga. I did much better than last week when I just did not even try. Eagle arms :) success with either arm on top. A first since broken shoulder.

It would do me good to chase my donwannas out the door,
switch on another fan - done
and find a cool spot to start writing fence stuff.

very next step - post this
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

Ivy, I'm so sorry about the concerns for your granddaughter.

Elizabeth, that was an amazing tale!

Lynlee, smiling at your response to mid-day start of thread

((Kathryn)) what a mystery for your knees... ...

What a nice gift, Sadie.

Smiled at Twins' Mom's description of costumes.

Glad helia and OKay have good reports from menfolks' procedures.

Feeling really guilty about lucylee and the candy from tractor supply.

Sorry your knee hurts, Dee. Had to look it up and yes dd can perform marriage in FL. (I'm sure you are so glad I checked that out. But it really surprised me - Florida, Maine, SC) Did NOT know that.

((Harmony)) very seriously from the noneofmybusinessdept... ... you need to find the words to say to these people, that making demands on dh now could truly harm him. Unacceptable. Certainly no church family member should place their desires above his health, and anyone who just wants work from him right now for their own desires is an... a.... words fail me... is mean.

Funny about building Lego storage container to solve toy-saving space problem.

Good reminder on Bracken. Gotta do that - a non-fiction read!

Oh, btw, dd34 tells me DangerBoy is much more interested in non-fiction reading, like me. Chip off the old block.

DangerBoy and WonderBoy both won blue ribbons in their school science fair, they report.

Lynlee, forgot to tell you that ds is working on Mt. Tambourine and living over the bar at the resort. No word yet on whether he likes it or not.

We are safe at dd's. She is pretty sick so we had a dinner out but quiet evening otherwise. Her birthday is on Tuesday and I'll cook a dinner of some sort for her tomorrow. Her present from her dh is a night out with her friends having sushi. He does not like sushi so is staying home and babysitting the 4 kids (ranging from 1 - 4) so that dd can have an adult night with her friends. We go home in the morning that day.

Showed dd pictures of the apartment and she and I looked online for a place for her. I wasn't keen on the neighbourhood she'd picked so have her looking elsewhere. It looks like she'll have to up her budget for our city to be anywhere near as nice as the neighbourhood she's in now.

I'm off to bed now.

Finished celebrating dh's bday tonight. The original family celebration was (intentionally) interrupted by the surprise party.

Dh, myself, ds, and dd18 just spent about 20 minutes figuring out a date for dd18's grad party and ds' start date for his summer internship - he had 3 to choose from. Complicated b/c one of us (me, most likely) will drive down with ds, which will take a good 4 days, including 1 day to settle him in and 1 day to return - by plane, most likely. I don't feel good about him driving by himself 1330 miles. He will need a car while there -he asked about this - so we will probably buy a good used car here for him to use over the summer, and then either sell it or one of the other cars in the fall.

So. . . early June will look like:
- I will drive down with ds, maybe May 28 or 29; it will take 2 days. His start date will be June 2.
- fly back by myself June 2, most likely. Dd18's graduation is June 4. Ds will miss the ceremony. Nobody here, including dd18, seems to think much of that.
- Dd18's graduation party will be June 7. Dh says we will invite as many people as possible; Dfriends E and C as well as my parents may come up for graduation and/or the grad party. So, we may have houseguests that week. We might fly ds up as well. . .
- Dh leaves for conference in Hawaii on June 9. I may leave June 12 or 13 to join him after the conference for a few days.

Dd18 and GG will both fly on June 25, dd18 on the youth group trip to Haiti, GG to go back to Germany. The youth group will spend the night of the 24th at the church, though, so they can take a van to the airport for their very early morning departure.

I will just concentrate on the coming week.

today, I finished my book club book, so I can return it to dfriend who had checked out this book club bag from the library. I'm going to do a little Hebrew tonight before heading to bed. Two preps for tomorrow: meeting with mentoree student and Hebrew class. I'll also need to make a salad for dinner at foreign exchange program supervisor's home for 3 families tomorrow evening.

I haven't read anything by Peg Bracken for a long while. The other woman I read probably all her books was Irma Bombeck. Just love her humor. Does anybody else remember her?

Up and down emotions today. I need to drag myself out of this awful funky mood I'm in. DH insisted on going to church and would have driven himself there if I didn't take him. I just wanted to stay in bed. But I did take him and let him off a few steps from a side door that goes directly into the part of the sanctuary he likes to sit with the youth group. He was quite emotional to be able to be back.

And he couldn't understand why I didn't go in. I came back home and returned to pick him back up at the same door. I just couldn't face the social aspect of it. Everybody would have asked me how he was doing.... and quite possibly I would have run into that lady I emailed to leave him alone for a while... and now I'm afraid to look at my emails, haven't opened that up since I sent out that email.

Sigh.... and tomorrow he has another job and will drive up there (10 min drive) unless I take him...and I'm afraid to let him though some part of me says it's ok...but if it isn't would I ever forgive myself? And it's such an early morning that I feel is beyond me right now...

We had small group here tonight, and it was just 6 of us because 4 of them we notified we just got their answering machines so maybe they didn't know. I just dreaded this tonight but it was ok, these are the other 2 couples I feel the closest to. I guess at some point I need to get a grip on myself. If only I knew how.

Harriet, I wrap presents, paper, ribbons, bows; and every time I go somewhere with a package most of the others are in shopping bags! We're a dying breed!

(((helia))) playing family time tetris. Prayers all goes well. That's a long drive away for ds.
(((Kathryn))) I had incorrectly guessed where your ds was working. It will be lovely there this time of year. Its a fair way from here. I'm glad he gets a chance to work on his backpacking holiday. It will be another memory to go with the range of other things he has done. IMO - It has to top the travelling down our E coast with those companions and testing sleeping space. If he has time and transport - tell him to check out OReilly's, or similar rainforest walks - but not to get lost hiking by going off a track. I think O'Rielly's is somewhere in that neck of the woods.
One of my big spiritual experiences was on top of Mt Tambourine at one of the many youth camps. Moonlit view of valley with fog was part of it.

re neighbourhoods for dd - remember they can change their character over time. Yes needs to be safe now, but many go from moderately well off to undesirable in a decade or so. Or visa versa. DD's area - was undesirable a few years before they bought, and now is seriously sought after. All the renos of colonial homes has been part of that, and the desirable HS too. Some of the original people have lived there for an age so have seen its transition. I'm not sure if Canada has similar problems to parts of US where some neighbourhoods have serious problems, and people just so want to get out of there. A tough call.

I need some lunch. No I haven't put pen to paper yet. My brain feels like its cooking to explode. 37 /99 in here. I have to move.

(((Harmony))) Please take care of you too. Let DH know you have run out of steam already. I hear you - difficult to keep him on a short leash as far as work goes.
Just begin.

(((Harmony))) You sorta sound like my dmom --
I guess at some point I need to get a grip on myself. If only I knew how.
-- I know she feels the same -- exhaustion has just taken its toll on you... and as Lynlee said, you do need to take care of yourself -- but goodness sakes... how to do that while making sure dh doesn't re-injure himself? I can see your problem. * sheesh * Harriet is exactly right -- church people making demands on him at this point are just MEAN. And selfish. Phooey on them. And if you DO happen to have an opportunity to run into any of them, you have my permission to use any words necessary to try to get that point across to them.
That said, I'm glad dh was happy to be back at church. * sigh * Wouldn't it be nice if you could check YOURSELF into rehab for 21 days. Maybe then you could get some rest... (((BIG HUGS)))

Oh -- I love Erma Bombeck, too! Been planning to bring one of her books home from dmil's. (Dgs keeps pulling it out of bookshelf.)

I wrap sometimes... sometimes I use gift bags. Tonight I wrapped dmom's present, but I admit to using a pre-made Wmart bow.
I will just concentrate on the coming week.
A wise decision, I would say, helia... Your days just make my head spin!!!

(((Kathryn's dd))) Hope she feels better soon and y'all find a good location for her & dsil to move to.
Feeling really guilty about lucylee and the candy from tractor supply.
Yeah, Harriet... you should feel guilty. :P I AM JUST KIDDING!!! No one is force-feeding me. * sheesh * I knew I was a sugar addict when I walked through those doors. I am hopeless.

LOVED the picture idea w/the two expectant moms.

Hope all you Florida folks are okay. Have messaged w/dbro -- sounds like he's fine.

(((Twins))) IKWYM --
everything and everyone on my last nerve.
:D :D :D OH -- I meant to tell y'all -- Sensodyne toothpaste has worked a MIRACLE on my tooth!!! I am pretty much pain free now!!! THANK YOU!!! :D :D :D
Tomorrow is another day.

Harmony, I loved Erma Bombeck and have read a lot of her books. Somewhere I have a bunch of her newspaper columns that I liked, hit home or were special for some reason.

lucylee, Do you have Peg Brackens "I hate to cook" cookbook? I have had a copy since jr. high and it is falling apart. I have also read her "I hate to clean house" or something to that affect, book.

Yes, Lilac, I think I have everything she ever wrote. I love the cookbook. There are several others I found on amazon. She is (was) just hilarious. I was so sad when I found out she had passed away.
Oh -- I guess I stole my mom's copy of the I Hate to Housekeep book, LOL. That was my introduction to Peg Bracken. When dmom gets new reading glasses, maybe I'll take it back and it will cheer her up.

I did get dmom a funny book for part of her birthday present. At least I hope it's funny -- Third Row, Piano Side. The author is Chonda Pierce. I have heard her on the Grand Ole Opry, and I think she has been with the Gaithers also.

Typing on phone. Glad I've got it but -- ugh.
Tomorrow is another day.
