YES, Cowinkie, leave those horse pictures up! Our neighbors and Mr. Guy and I went to the Casino for breakfast this morning and we made some bets on Chromie. Everyone around here is so excited. We are all just hoping that co- owner Steve doesn't have a heart attack. We thought he was going to at the Derby and the Preakness. It is so nice to see regular guys be the winners. Here's hoping.

I am busy working on my books - that is trying to get rid of as many as I can. They will go to the library for their next sale. I am donating all my Diana Gabaldon books. They are autographed and I really had a hard time making that decision. The only good thing is they are all on my Kindle so whenever I want to re-read they are there. Diana's 8th book in the Scotland series comes out Tuesday. We of the Ladies of Lallybroch are very excited.

I had to laugh when I am holding up Mr. Guy's books and saying "donate or keep" and of course his are all "keep"! It's ok if mine go, but not his. He is the biggest instigator of giving my books away. When I finish with that chore all I have left is to put my curio cabinet back together. My newly painted, super clean house looks so nice. I so want to keep it that way.

Before I forget ---- Elizabeth, I am so proud of you for standing up and having it out with ex-dmil. You are a straight shooter! Good for you! No sense in letting that go and letting it churn around in your stomach and leave you upset all the time. We all need to take a lesson from you. I for one am not good at that, but now I have you as a positive influence.

I think I could sleep for DAYS. I just feel exhausted.
And if I'm awake, I just want to eat and EAT and EAT...

Yesterday's dentist appt was not perfect. Dentist found 1 cavity... BUT... when I asked if they could possibly get me in later in the day and take care of it then, they did have an open spot @ 3:00...
So -- cleaning @ 11:00, cavity filled @ 3:00. In between times, I went to visit dcousin, who was still hoping to come home later in the day. Haven't heard from her yet today.
Also, dmil seemed to be doing a little better as the day went on, and nurse found no indications of real problems... no fever, blood pressure normal, she seems alert and clear-headed... so nurse said stay off dairy for at least 24 hours and push clear liquids.

When I got home, dh and I visited dmil and then he was so sweet... took me BACK to dentist-town to eat at Chick-fil-a, b/c I had said I wanted it sooo badly when I left dentist, but my mouth was so numb I didn't feel like stopping.

Then we got home in time to watch the Braves, and I slept through it all. My mouth was just so sore and tired. Dentist said I was kinda a glutton for punishment, choosing to sit in the chair for 2 hours, but he could understand me wanting to get it all over with. (He's going to be closed all next week, and we will be gone Mon-Tues of the NEXT week, so it was going to mean I'd have to be THINKING about it for 10 days or more, rather than 3 hours.) I really love my dentist, but I do NOT love being drilled on!!! (Dentist is over 70 years old. He asked how I was enjoying retirement. I said, "Oh, I love it. I highly recommend it -- but NOT FOR YOU. YOU would not like it. You should NEVER retire." He said he had no plans to, that
he loves what he does.)

Ditto that! I especially loved the part about how she might not believe everything she was told by the two adulterers! You know, somewhere deep down inside, she has to be a little bit aggravated and embarrassed that her son has done this to his family and set this example for his dd.

LOL... There was an article in the local paper recently about 11 things Alabamians say that mean totally different things everywhere else. "Carry" was one of them. DH was surprised when I told him y'all have noticed that I say that all the time. Some other things were "Coke" to refer to ANY dark, carbonated beverage, regardless of brand, and "buggy" for the rolling cart at Wmart or the grocery store. One was "lay out" as in, "to tan, ie: I need to lay out and get some color on my legs before we go to the beach." "Color" was another -- as a noun, not a verb. I don't really use that a lot, but I do remember hearing my grandmothers say, "Just a minute, I need to put some color on my lips."

Sooo glad I was not present when ds's waterbed had to be emptied at college-town condo. DS & dh discovered it when they went down for a basketball game. It had sprung a leak, so they just threw it away and that was my first and last experience w/waterbeds. (I always wanted one when I was growing up and dd said no, it was too heavy for the floor. Then he saw one on display, sitting on paper cups to show how well the weight was distributed, and my dbro got one. )

Lucylee, MY DMIL used to say "I'm putting my face on," when we walked into her home and she was in the little nook at the small kitchen table putting on make-up. I don't know where she got that. She was born in WA, lived in OR, CA and the South for a short time. Maybe it's a Southern expression?

I got my breakfast and pills in me, got tired and cranky. The TV was blaring b/c DH hadn't put his hearing aids in yet, hadn't showered, so he turned it down, and showered. I went into the bathroom, he said "There's no hot water." He had a cold shower, had to re-set the thermostat on the hot water heater. I'd gotten so tired, I went to bed to nap about 10:20 a.m. and woke up at 1:15 p.m.! I guess I must have been tired. Yesterday I'd walked 1 hour, so I guess this is what I get for exercising?

It's beautiful and sunny. DH is watching the Mariners and the Rays. Then we'll watch the horse race, we're rooting for CA Chrome again. Would be so fun to get a Triple Crown Winner again!

Elizabeth , You should be very proud of yourself. All the more power to you. Sounds like she needed to hear those words from you and it's probably time she did, too. Oh, my.

I'm not from the South. But I'm a descendent of a Washington pioneer family, most of us settling in Western WA State. One thing that my DD and I have noticed is how we call "Washington"- "WARSHington". We put an "R" in it. When we do the washing of clothes- it is WARSHing clothes. When DD is working out in the field or is at meetings, she'll run into so many people. She'll say, "You're not a Native from WA State, are you?" They say, "No, how can you tell?" DD says, "It's your accent." They say, "YOU have an accent." So this "R" into Washington or washing is something I was brought up with in the small prairie town I came from, my DAunt, DUncle & cousins living in the hills and now in the foothills of the Mount Rainier area. I'm proud to be a Washingtonian, but it IS embarrassing- sometimes- if a stranger asks, "Did you put an "R" in Washington?" I laugh and say, "What can I say? I'm a Native from a pioneer family." DH was born in OR, but was in WA State for many years and HE puts an "R" in it, too. It's so interesting. DD and I also say ya'll, too. We're not from the South, so where did we pick that up. I say, "I need to go put my eyes on now." Do I mean eyeglasses? Heavens no! I mean I need to paint on my eyebrows, add shadow, eyeliner and mascara. To me, that's putting my eyes on. I don't know where I got that, except that DMIL used to put her "face on," with foundation and make-up. Words are awesome to me. I love to read, write, and listen to people talk, read their writing, and get to know everyone a little better.

I wish the horse race would start! I can hardly stand the wait!

I will s2s later, but I freshened up good, d2s, had to get an athletic bra on, and am comfy in my Muumuu.

[color=#40FF40]I cried when CA Chrome didn't win. DH said, "We're not even the owners!" I had my heart set on another triple crown winner, is all. It was a good race, I'm glad we almost won. I sang "A horse is a horse, of course, of course," and moved on. [/color]

Home from a run over to the apartment building to take our plants and pick up the tools so the waterbed can be dismantled. AND the raspberries (I bought them three days ago for lunch and keep forgetting to have them.)

The plants are in the foyer adjusting to the off-gassing smell in the apartment. We opened a few windows. The exercise mats are really bad but I can't do anything about those. The rubber sink mats in the kitchen, on the other hand, are now on the balcony. It has been a week and they still make me feel ill when I washing dishes. If they don't stop in another week, I'm returning them to Walmart. I've never owned them before but we have a brand new sink and dh want to keep it looking great and to not worry about breaking dishes (although if I haven't broken anything by hitting the bottom of the sink in the last 30 years, you'd think I don't need a protective mat.)

Swung by the market village and picked up Subway for me, Chinese for dh and spinach for tomorrow's pot luck. The Chinese restaurant offered us a lot of boxes so the car was filled up again. We should be ok. These are big ones but for holding styrofoam so not very strong. Perfect for lampshades and pillows.

Back from the church. We needed to set up the sound system and are using dh's amp and our two mikes. The new minister is very soft spoken and wants amplification. There is an ancient sound system in the church but no-one knows how or if it works. We've been there 24 years and never seen it used. We'll leave our amp at the church until after June 22. After that, dh wants it back and that gives the board 5 weeks to come up with a solution.

I'd give my eye teeth for dh's old, lightweight, amp back. This one weighs close to 70 pounds and isn't on wheels so is a bear to move around. I insist on keeping it in the front hall closet because that way it is close to the door. In the apartment it has a corner to tuck into.

Dh is tuning instruments now. I should be packing but went to remove the lamp shades and it was too harsh a light so am on hold right now and taking time to post.

I think I'll finish off the bathrooms now. I have a brilliant plan to put things we don't want the movers to move in the bathtubs behind a curtain so they won't accidentally load things that we want to handle.

They had Cheer wine in WM here at Christmas time. I wanted one badly to see what it tasted like, but they were sold in dozens or cases and I didn't want that many around. I got interested to taste one by reading the Mitford series where she talked about them all the time.

Very slow day. I'm puttering along. I've got 1/2 of the house pretty torn up moving the dresser stuff and closets and the bathroom. But I'm making progress, just not very fast. I usually work much harder with my projects, but this time I'm just slowly doing things and it's looking a bit better. Surprising the amount of things I'm finding to throw away, or at least clean and organize. Will be nice when I'm done.

We went out for dinner to local steak house. I think it was DH's gift card from his birthday last year that we spent. We have a couple more of those to spend. He wasn't up to going out for so long and for a while neither was I so they piled up. I think we have about 4 more to various places!
