Happy Belated Birthday, Elizabeth! :)

I'm so glad you're a part of this village!

Yes, Happy belated birthday wishes to Elizabeth!

Home again and I am going to nap. Dh and I went on to Costco for some stuff after the b'nai mitzvah luncheon. It turns out that the party tonight was canceled so we will probably go to the festival. Oy. At least it's over for another year. Now that I don't work outside the home, I try to not fuss about doing so much stuff on the weekends because I don't have to go work on Monday, but my introvert personality is craving more down time right now. Of course, I feel like I do work pretty hard most weeks, just not at a payroll job.

I don't know where this came from:
Oh, there goes a nearby fire departments little brush fire fighter -there's rubber tracks over the wheels. Drumming up business for up in the common areas I'm sure.
Did I copy part of someone else's post somehow?

Hi everyone!

Had a very different day than planned. We decided to check out some garage sales. Pulled out of the driveway and got as far as the first left turn just north of us and Mike said the steering felt wonky. He pulled over and got out to check the front end and we had a completely flat tire. That's amazing that 2 cab drivers that are supposed to do circle checks of their vehicles every day can get in to our personal car and not notice a flat tire...

Limped slowly to the closest gas station with a working air pump, filled the tire and drove to where Mike had the tires installed. It was almost completely flat when we got there. Seems it was the valve stem. Because Mike had bought the tires there and had them installed there, they did the repair for free. Then we went out for Italian food for lunch and because we were close to my dad's, we decided to go up there.

My brother was there with his 2 daughters. Spent some time there and came home. We brought the cedar chest home with us. I have lemon oiled it and then we will move it into the bedroom closet and fill it with sheets and blankets and pillows.

I went back to bed and slept about 2.5 hours, getting up at 11:55 a.m. :o

Later, I took the cell phone, started walking 1/4-mile up the driveway, to the locked community mailboxes. I was throwing little branches and maple leaves clusters, which had blown down in the storm and came upon a mess of a couple large maple branches in the driveway. I called DH at home, told him to bring his saw, but I was continuing up to the mailbox and would see him on the way back. I got 2 letters, :) :) , and continued throwing little branches to the sides, walking swiftly. I got back to him, he had a hand saw. I "assumed" it was a power saw size job, but he said I was wrong. I kept walking home, did 1/2 mile FAST with picking up branches, in 15 minutes. Got home to feed kitty cat her mail treats. When DH got in, she sat at her bowl looking up at him like, "Where's my mail treat?" DH said did I feed them to her, I said yes, I did, and we laughed- but she got no more. :!:

It was sunny out, there are clouds, there's a chance of rains today, it's a bit breezy, and I'm glad I didn't get rained on. I wore my hoody, just in case I'd need to cover my head. OH! It feels so good to get out in the fresh air of the woods, on a fast walk up a slope, to get a real workout. I'm so thankful for QVAR now b/c I don't get asthma attacks from fast walks now. It's my wonder drug, for asthma control. :)

I need to do laundry, clean the kitchen, we'll do toilets, trash, DH will vacuum, but there's not a lot to do that will take long to do. The golf show is on, it's relaxing b/c the announcers practically whisper gently during the broadcast and it's so nice. I hope we'll get to watch the end tomorrow. It's so fun to see someone who hasn't won in a long time, to win again.

Your Jewish luncheon sounds very fun and nice and sorry the party was cancelled, but it's nice you can go to the festival, Twins' . Introvert personality? IRL, right? I hope you get your down time. You DO sound like a hard worker, from your posts, too! :)

Helia , That's funny about the penguins there.

Katherine , Your boats on the bay sound wonderfully picturesque. Thanks for sharing that beautiful picture with the rest of us.

Helia: I felt that you and I were both the same when it comes to other things being more important than spending time worrying about being stylish. It is not to say either of us are frumps (although I certainly feel frumpish at this weight) but it is just that we value experiences more than appearances.

Twins: I saw that in your post and it seemed out of place but thought it had something to do with fire fighting equipment for the mountain going by.

I'm not doing well here. I'm so tired and everything is a struggle. I had another meltdown during my shower. Seriously, the water flow isn't strong enough to wet my hair plus the water temperature is all over the map. I have to stand at the spout end so my heel keeps pushing down the stopper. I opened it twice and left it in a third time. By the time my shower was done, there was 7" in the tub. So much for water saving! I have to keep hiding at the far end when it is too hot or too cold, plus it takes 2 - 3x as long to rinse my hair. All that adds up to a ridiculous amount of water used.

The shower head is 1.5 gpm (it is hard to buy them that low) PLUS there is a governor inside that may slow the water flow further. And a tamper proof attachment that stops us from removing the governor or changing the head (the super removed it for us to fill the water bed.) If there is a governor, it seems to me we should be able to put on any kind of shower head since no matter how much water the shower head allows through, the governor will stop the flow before it gets to the shower head. The one I bought is 2 gpm on 'high' and 1.5 on energy saving but it has an off switch so when the water gets too hot or cold, I could just turn the water off at the shower head (the water is turned on by a hot and cold water tap so quick on/off isn't possible.)

I have a cut finger (from a broken mug) and there is a deep splinter in my right hand pointer finger that is move around so my finger hurts at times and other times is fine. Not to mention all my bruises.

Dh spent 4 hours sanding, then planing, then chiseling the drawer slides of the built in chest of drawers in the bedroom. Of the 6, only 2 would open. He took 1/3 of the wood away on some of the slides so this wasn't a matter of it swelling, it probably never worked. The quality of the workmanship in this place is appalling. My dishwasher scrapes against the under side of the counter each time I open or close it, for example.

Anyway, I need to get back to work. The laundry is done so the spare bed is now made up (and that moved 5 pillows, a comforter, and blankets from the closet onto the bed, freeing up room in there.) Next up is to make my bed. I'm considering a nap after that.

That was from my post, Twins. They were here for kids safety day. Cute rig.

Just got back from dsgd14's dance recital. Good but over 4 hours long. Ddil said she's making her take 20 classes next year so we can watch her while being tortured.

Making progress. I've moved my underwear and socks to the built-in, freeing up two top drawers of my dresser for hair things and makeup (which were in two drawers in the old bathroom but we have no drawers in the bathroom here.)

Another box is collapsed and more floor is showing. The bulk of the time of the last project was lining the drawers of the built-in. Next up, move the chairs into position. I have options here and am not sure if I'll keep them together or put one in front of each window.

I have a whole bin that is not put away yet. Hoping to find space for it in the storage room since it is clothes that are too small. I have great plans for losing weight now that I'm here. More walking, healthier eating (less food in the house since I don't have to drive to the store each time I need something, I'll be walking daily) and with a smaller home, hopefully more time for healthy habits.

Dee , That's a long recital to sit through! :!:

Kathryn, Sorry about the cut/splinter. It sounds like progress is being made by you & Ken, too! WTG! Good luck on your healthier habits journey, too, and daily walking, too. :D

I'm doing laundry, DH is mowing, I need to run and hang up laundry now. BBL.

It's so sunny, so beautiful, but still possible showers in the forecast. :?:
