Morning ya'll...
My day is pretty much planned for me as well. Just finished talking to my neurologist office concerning my migraine meds. When I had to change insurances the cost of the meds I was using went through the roof. Why one major insurance company charges me less than $2 per pill and the new one, $16 for the same med is beyond me.
Anyway, my dr gave me a new injection type med to use. It's like an epi-pen...self injecting type and I don't want to travel with it for the obvious reasons...I will be using several international airports and I can already see problems trying to get that darn thing through security. Just finished with a call to my dr's. to see if I can get my old prescription refilled. May cost me, but at least I won't have the hassel of explaining myself while trying to board a plane. Oh the joys of flying.... Good Luck Helia and family...
Today will be spent trying to photograph my photos and getting all my genealogy together so I can have it with me next week. Also contacting my new historian friend to find out if I need to make appointments to visit the cemetery and churches on my list. Luckily this fellow is president of both boards that oversee these site.
I have three new to me cousins... two fouth cousins, a girl in Denver and a guy in IL. My NJ cousin is my third cousin who I consider my mom's long lost family. All of them are so excited about knowing the other and appreciate all the wealth of information I have been able to find. Still can't find the important connection, but if my NJ cousin has anything to do with it that answer may be close. She is my age and a newbee to the computer..doesn't even know how to email, but she's been like a dog on a bone working the boards at Ancestry. We talke daily and we are developing quite a friendship...same with my other two new cousins but our exchanges have been through text and email.
Because my photos are so old, they are very hard to duplicate. They won't scan, and I am having problems with my camera producing usable images. My iphone takes great pixs, but they are very hard to reproduce a hard copie. I am off to Walgreens to try a few and if that is successful, will spend the rest of the day documenting with my phone.
Tomorrow is my running around day tying up loose ends for the trip...Friday I will do a W mart run so Sweetie will have plenty to eat. Already have my packing list done and will get my suitcase ready over the weekend.
We had big storms late last night and I thought about you Twins with Max. Storms like this don't happen often and last night Willis and I sat out on my covered patio and watched as it past by. The thunder and lighting...and there was plenty of it big, loud and flashy...didn't bother Willis in the least. I was really surprised at that. However the sound of the rain hitting the gutters and roof really puzzled him. This rain was very hard and the drops are very large. He stood very quietly next to me with his head moving from side to side trying to figure out what he was hearing.
I had a blast bowling with my friends yesterday. In fact I bowled five games. Haven't done that in forever. We had so much fun that we hope to do it again so.
Twins...I understand how you must be feeling with your sister. That is a long way to travel in one day. I know how it wore me out when I was doing that with my son. At first we, his dad, my son and myself, were making that turnaround trip every other week. The effects were telling on all of us. None of us wanted to go to a once a month visit. That was way too long for either myself or my dexh to go without seeing our son. Our solution was to go once every three weeks...and that schedule worked for us. We did that turnaround drive every three weeks for 9 years until my son was old enough to make the drive himself.
When my son turned 15 we made him do all the driving with us in the car. By the time he was 16 he had well over 15,000 miles under his belt...By the my dexh was CEO and President of the largest cellular company in the south. He had access to the James Bond type cell phones which he equiped my son with. He also had some sort of futuristic tracking device installed in our son's truck...this was back in the late 90's..so when my son turned 16, he began making the drive by himself.
Ok...I'm off. Gotta get myself going. Cya'll later...

Hello Dear Ladies,
Waving to Mystery! Love Mary Poppins.
The HOT weather is here. It is July so what else could we expect.
Doctor visit for me and blood test.
Along with refills for blood pressure meds she gave me one that I used a while back for anxiety/depression/ clear thinking. I had some left over and started taking them again. Found I couldn't keep calm and collected at work. I know it comes from worrying about dson 18 but would end up crying over something very minor.
work day for me.
Have great day all!

So far on my 10 x 5:
There might not be enough dirty dishes until after 5 p.m.
The LOL will be done, when Dgs/DH get back from getting firewood and after Dgs's shower.
I need to read my co-writer's short story. (He and I share what we write, back and forth).
I'll try to get the last 4 Grannies of 15, in one design, done today, but need to also work on a short story today, too. It's hard to balance home with work, for me, but it's fun to alternate between the 2 because I never get bored. While crocheting and doing housework, ideas come to me, too.
Nice to "see" you, Ramblinrose.
Sadie, Good luck on the blood test, and your medications, too.

RR, Ds reported that we had a storm yesterday while I was away and that Macs took himself to our MBR closet to hang out. A good choice for him, carpeted floor so he can get himself up, and smells like me and dh!
I need to light a fire under my tushie.
-email to rabbi and his wife re his compensation
-quick s2s
-finish up with grocery list
-sort and start a lol
-email attorney
-pack up dd's glasses to mail to her while I'm out
Oops, I don't have dd's new apartment address, texted and emailed her to get it.

Re: What's up Wednesday
Interesting new advice -
Not many cases of "stomach flu", rotovirus, norovirus recently. But we've certainly dealt with our bouts in the village. I came across an interesting article about how to handle the most important concern with these bouts - dehydration - especially in children. After any vomiting, the next step is not to ingest anything at all, really, but to WAIT, according to The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. Best advice is to wait THREE hours after the last episode of vomiting and then start water sipping only. Seems the tried and true advice of a carbonated drink, too soon after "stomach flu" times, is probably not wise. (This would have been a surprise to my dmother, who believed in Pepsi or Ginger Ale for tummy problems!)
Just gradually increasing sipping water for as much as two more hours is wise, so as not to give the stomach any work to do too early, because that can trigger more vomiting, and ending the vomiting decisively is the best defense against dehydration. Then, FIVE hours after the last bout of vomiting is past, you can feel confident that drinking a full glass of water is fine, to start on some faster re-hydration. Also a probiotic can be taken 5 hours after last vomiting, and may help with speedier recuperation. So that's cool to know.

Re: What's up Wednesday
Harriet, Those are very sound ideas and good to know!
I've sorted the LOL, but Dgs needs to get home from the woods, shower, before I can wash clothes.
I'm finishing up writing on a short story by hand.
The DW might not need a load today.
I need to buckle down to read my co-writer's story, after I finish writing mine by hand. Then, I'll get to those dgs Granny squares.
The clouds are burning off now.
Nancy, Sorry your hose sprung a leak.
Do you have extra hoses to use instead?
It's back to my story I go. It's 12:08 p.m. here now, so the guys should be getting in from the woods soon.
Have a GREAT AFTERNOON!

Re: What's up Wednesday
Good info, Harriet... (my mother, and I, have also long believed in the power of a cola-type beverage during bouts of stomach distress).
And I keep seeing all these things about diet cokes increasing one's risk of lymphoma and leukemia... * sigh * AND increasing one's tendency to gain weight... and still I keep drinking them b/c I just can't seem to be able to switch to pure water, and it seems so ridiculous to trade ZERO calories for 250 per bottle... smh...
Yes, BookSaver, your advice is EXCELLENT. Perfect. Except... IF dh gets his feelings hurt b/c our company is not welcome on the drive, then he will be too "put out" to want to go at all. We'd all be listening to the same band(s) and hanging out with the same people, anyway. It's just a mess. DH created this monster of a music fan in ds... and now he has to learn to share him w/ddil.
I told myself I would LET GO and just not mention it anymore at all to ds... but I went back on that promise and I did tell ds I TOTALLY understood, b/c my inlaws had always been too much in my life, too... but I wished ddil had not even mentioned it to me -- b/c I just hate KNOWING something and not being able to share it w/dh. DS said, "Well, I wasn't even sure SHE wanted to go... she's talked to you more about it than she has me... so I wasn't SURE we were going either." So... I'm just going to pretend ddil never mentioned it to me. Or at least, try to pretend that in my head.
DS and I walked for a couple miles, and now I must s2s and start ironing. Ugh.
(((dMacs))) We had a lot of thunder and lightning last night, too! And LOTS of rain! (Good for the hydrangeas!)
(((Twins))) for the long drives and the emotional stress of all your family care.
(((Sadie))) Glad you got a refill for meds to help w/the anxiety, etc. I know y'all think I'm a nut case, but can you imagine the kind of worrying and crying I'd be doing all the time if not for my P axil...
RR... medicine costs are ridiculous. Hope you have a great trip!
So now we have a troll here, and my aol email keeps giving me hundreds of spam things a day... * whew *
OH -- update -- I did tell dmom about dfriend "Mary"'s call the other night -- that was all fine w/dmom -- probably exactly what she would have said/will say to Mary when they talk... and she was VERY interested in the old preacher's sermon series on Revelations, as I thought she would be.
OTOH, she declined to go w/ds to get her truck fixed. Again. This has been a LONG-planned venture that never takes place. DS says he's not returning her truck to her until they go to the body shop; that's the next place that truck is stopping while he has the keys. Dmom insists she wants to have this done before trading trucks with him... but ALWAYS has some excuse. Today's excuse: she was unable to sleep b/c of the storms last night; her ear popped and has been "whistling" at her all day; and she has to meet the man about the boat today and didn't want to do both chores on the same day.
* sigh *

Re: What's up Wednesday
Interesting, Harriet. My Austin Pedi (19 or so years ago) recommended a very similar regimen after my kids threw up - with 2 differences. (1) He said I could start 2 hours after last vomit (we started with 1 teaspoon liquid every 10 or 15 minutes) - and (2) he recommended pedialyte over water or anything else, I think b/c the pedialyte has electrolytes and other minerals that help rehydrate. In my limited experience, I've also found pedialyte or similar concoctions to stay down better than water with initial rehydrating, so I find it interesting/puzzling that water is now recommended above all other liquids? When I was a child with a tummy bug, my mom made a Dr. recommended home-made "pedialyte" concoction that I remember well. She gave me the recipe when I had my own kids, but I was lazy and/or following pedi's instructions and just bought pedialyte. I think my mom's recipe is basically watered down orange juice with some salt and maybe some sugar? I've never done the carbonated drink thing at the beginning of rehydration. My mom would let us drink 7 up a day or so after we'd completed the first regimen and were feeling better. . .I skipped it completely with my own kids.
OK - this sat here for a while. I have:
x enjoyed kayaking on the beautiful river that runs right through the middle of our city. It was hard to imagine there's a city around the river during most of the trip. Enjoyed chatting with dh's secretary and various students, post-docs, research scientists - and their SO's or families.
x came home - took a nap.
Not sure if that was the socializing, the jog + kayaking (not too strenuous), being outside (it wasn't too sunny), or a restless night's sleep last night - or a combo of all of the above.
x took dd16 to her drumline practice
x PO - got hold mail card filled out and dropped off.
Next:
- finish a.m. routine
- 1 lol
- look at trip prep list
- email resume to another institution in town
- see if NL is doing OK in the world cup game; I don't think they're expected to win.

Re: What's up Wednesday
I can tape the hoes but for now I figure the big tree can use the extra water. I do not think we have a spare hose but I should check. Soccer world cup on now. Why are there leaves by the Arg. goal?
Thanks FF for that suggestion, I checked hoses yep brought out an extra one in the front now I can put water on the dry spot when ever the hose is on a blessing in disguse watering 2 places at once! Before it was not quite long enough so it will reach the back of the front side yard.
An upside down trash can lid is an impromptu fountain with hose draped over a branch on a trickle in the shade hens fav. Hide out now!
