Hey to bittersweet!
I grabbed your photo of Tiff you had posted from the previous board before it went down, in case you happened to want it.
Kathryn, I hardly know what to say in the middle of this sadness... ...you will be led to the right decisions I'm sure. The family will need support not just now, but for a long time in the future. Many opportunities to bless them with care.

Good Morning, Village Ladies!!!
I hope your Thursday Thoughts are good one.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. MT!!!!!
I've been up since 4:10 a.m., so my 10 x 5 will be "low key" today.
My 10 x 5 is:
- Remake the bed.
- Put out hot spots.
- Help put Costco groceries away.
- Run the DW later; possibly after 5 p.m.
- Write on a short story.
- Sort and possibly do mail.
- Read!!!!
I need to catch up on a LOT.
- Do yoga and stretching exercises.
- Run my 2 daily scans.
- Crochet on Dgd's White Main Color Granny Squares: need 15.
My "2015 Helen Steiner Rice Day Planner" and a book on writing for the greeting card market, comes today, via UPS. I hope to greet the UPS man. He's so friendly. DH and I discussed my getting my hair cut again. There is a barber, 20 miles away, by appt. only, so it's VERY DIFFICULT with our busy schedules, to get a good time, then go all that way to get my hair cut. She's a great barber, I love her, but I believe it's time to move back to our local one, DH started going to again, recently. She isn't 100% terrific with women's hair, but she's a lovely person, I go home and "fix" if there are any straggly hairs, etc... I don't mind. She's a GEM, a lovely person, and she is so talkative and friendly. I really do like her better, personality wise, she does a fairly good job. I just can't have this mess of hair on me any longer. It's below chin-length now. I want to go into a short bob, just below the ear lobes, for summer, for summer appt.'s, and easy-care with Dgs' here, etc.... It's so nice to be able to wash hair, towel dry, comb and go!
So I guess my "Thursday Thoughts" are about hair and the UPS man bearing gifts. The planner is from a Mother's Day gift card from DD. The book, is out of my writing money.
Also, about "Thursday Thoughts." I was up at 4:10 a.m., finally ended up freshening up and D2S. I wrote in my journal, getting all my angst out of my heart, grumpy about writing a letter reply, and I was just ornery in general. But then, in big block letters I wrote: I'M VERY TIRED. I'M GRUMPY. And then my grumpiness vanished. Oh, I did happen to write some pretty comical frustration faces, which made me laugh, too. It's amazing how journal writing can direct thoughts from the negative to the positive.
2 doves visited our patio, our cat did NOT like them at all!
Then, a squirrel crawled down our fir siding, hanging upside-down with his head showing at the top frame of our sliding glass door. Then, he walked down the siding at the edge of the sliding glass door, peering in and my cat and she REALLY DID NOT LIKE THAT!
It was too funny. I couldn't help by laugh. He was so cute, entertaining us in the early morning.
So wildlife and birds can help our Thursday Thoughts, too.
Have an amazing day today!

Hi Everyone! We are back home in Florida....I am posting without cuop and will do that a little later. Quite a few days to read here.
I have a lot to catch up on here at home also. Ds#2 stayed here to take care of our ddogs and he does well at keeping up with housekeeping, but it's obvious there are still things that need to be done. It will be easy, though, as I do my daily routines again.
Our side trip to Pittsburgh, PA was good. We packed a lot into those two days. We started out at 6 am on Sunday, arrived at Pgh around noon, stopping at a convenience store for a loaf of bread. Ds had packed a cooler with lunch meat, cheese and drinks for our lunch. We drove around downtown to see how things have changed in the 29 years since I left the area, then went across the river to take a ride on the Duquesne Incline (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duquesne_Incline) then on out to the cemetery where dh's family were buried. It took a while but ds finally found the plots were and I took pictures of the headstones for future reference. We drove back across town to a different cemetery where my people were and found them a little quicker and took pictures of them also. We drove out to Cranberry Twp., found our hotel, got settled in then went out for a quick late supper. Monday we slept in till 9 am, gathered our stuff and checked out, ate a quick brunch at Einstein's B. and started out again. We did a quick tour of the Cranberry area which has changed from rural farmland to city living with lots of housing developments off the main highway and all business/retail buildings and shops along Rt. 19. It was sad to see all the farmland built up, but good in a way because one had to drive 4 - 5 miles for groceries, etc. Our house looked about the same except the planting around the foundation and in the yard was different. Of course the neighborhood was looking grown up since all the trees planted new when we lived there were all grown. From there we drove down into where I grew up. The house where my dsis & and I were born still looks good and the house we grew up in looks good and well kept up.
We drove across town again to South Side where dh lived. The original house he was born in was gone, with an elementary school in place there, but the house where he and his dmom lived with his oldest dbro was still there. We found the house where dgd17's dboyfr's father lived in and took pictures for him. We ate supper at the pizza place he used to eat, and then started home. We arrived back in VA a few minutes before midnight. Travel time was about 5 hours...(it would have taken me a little longer as I drive closer to the actual speed limit). All in all, even though we were all very tired, we were very satisfied and content with everything we saw. Ds said he will take ddil and dgkids back again; they are looking at that area as one of the places to retire when his time in the army is up. He has at least another 7 years before that can happen, longer if he decides to stay in longer.
Yesterday when we flew in there were storms all around the area, but the flight missed them all; we had a good landing. On the drive across the bay we ran into the rain and had to wait almost an hour before we could go outside to unload the car. Right after ddil and dgd12 left ds#2 stopped on his way home from work to visit for a while. It was good to see them all again. I am eager to get back to my own routines here at home. First up is to empty our suitcases and put all our clean clothes away. There is only enough for a small lol as we did washing the day before we came home. But first, I see it is almost lunchtime and I'm hungry, so will get a sandwich. Ds brought a few groceries with him yesterday so we wouldn't have to run out today.
It is so good to be back here in the village again....missed you all.

s2s, fed, CUOPed.
(((Kathryn and friends)))
Happy Birthday, Mr. MT!
Laughing at your grumpy face, FF!
Sunny, we've reached the point where we've been to Pgh enough on hockey trips that I recognize some of the places you mention.
DH & the girls are lunching -- I had breakfast late enough that it was really brunch -- and then we'll head to the West Side for the movie & ice cream. DH just had one of the first two tomatoes off the vine as part of his lunch. (He gave the other to dd, who adores tomatoes as much as he.)

Done:
x a.m. routine
x lunch
x chatted with a neighbor whose dog came over to visit Pepper and Maia - and the hens.
x phone calls to Walgreens and then pedi endo. re: dd18's prescription, which has NOT yet been renewed. She has one more pill. We need it renewed before we leave tomorrow. Other script has been renewed.
x pretty much sorted out which clothes I'm bringing and have put them in my suitcase; much as I like some of my 3/4 length tops, I'm leaving them behind for short sleeved polos and tees + a couple light sweaters so I can layer and be more versatile with fewer articles of clothing. I'm feeling like I sound like Kathryn now. We need one dressy outfit for the birthday party.
x made a list of items for Walgreens
x phone call from dh's secretary asking for a scan of his passport. Did that. I guess I'm his secretary #2? Hmmm....
x more emails - I'm tired of emails coordinating things
I think I'm now ready to run some errands:
- gas station
- bank
- library
- Walgreens

Texting with my music friend. She is on her way back to the hospital now to be with her daughter while they turn off life support.
Went out to see dd and we went out to lunch at her pub and then some shopping before coming back. I've been texting though, the whole time so that my friend won't feel all alone.

Hello Village Ladies on this sunny and beautiful afternoon!
So far, on 10 x 5:
I remade the bed. (Everyday, we must do this, because I steal covers because DH pulls them off and flips them over to me!
I put out hot spots. (When you keep on it daily, they get cleaned up quickly.)
Helped put Costco groceries away. (DH got some wraps for our Dgs and my lunch.)
DH is now driving to his retirees luncheon at IHOP.
We ran the DW.
I read "AARP Bulletin," "Writer's Digest Magazine," "Woman's World Magazine," "Poets and Writers Magazine," and on a thick "Poetry Magazine."
It was nice to get that all done. I pass writers/poets magazines to dgs who is also a writer.
I ran my 2 daily scans. Everything's normal and healthy.
I worked on a short story for awhile, but since I only had 5.5 hours sleep, found the brilliant idea
to do research, I became overwhelmed with all the information. I need to think-think-think, to pull this particular story off. With Dgs here, with DH gone, and me on my way to do laundry, I decided to put what I "did" do, to the side, along with the computer print-outs, which I've highlighted and red-ink-penned.
I need to be in the right frame of mind, to get this to flow for me. I always use "my voice" when I write, but today, my writing voice seems a bit lop-sided.
I just cannot think clearly.....
So, I'm going to do laundry and crochet. At 1:30 p.m., Dgs will go get the mail. I'll sort mail then, also need to do yoga and stretches. When DH gets home, the LOL should be done and I'll s2s, since I only d2s this a.m. I'm very happy that my writing for greeting card markets book came today, so I'll browse through that, too. After Dgs and I eat wraps for lunch, maybe I can get a short nap in.
(((Kathryn and Dfriends))) It's so sad.
What a tragedy for the dfamily and dfriends, too. My heart goes out to you, too, as you hang in their with them, too.
MyseryWoman, I forgot about my grumpy face!
Now it's a sleepy one, but I don't see an Smilie for that.
Welcome, home, Sunny!
Glad your trip went well, too!
Hello, Bittersweet!
It's nice to "meet" you!
Dee, Good luck on the laundry and quarters.
Twins' Mom, I hope you get your patience back. It's hard to keep up on desk days, week after week, too.
Nancy, Have fun on your camping trip and kayaking, too!
Helia, Have a wonderful trip, when you go, too.
I'm off to eat a wrap and start a LOL! Have a great afternoon, Ladies!
BBL.....

That's where I'm at. Half my battle right now is getting my thoughts together. I feel like I'm making some progress, but there's no tangible proof. I have many goals, and when you spread out you efforts that much, it is very hard to see the results.
"Being there". Sometimes that's the best thing we can do. {{hugs}} to Kathryn and friend.

Our church's creed begins we "We are not alone, we live in God's world." and I've been clinging to that today. It is hard to find the words and, in my case, send her off with prayers, all the time avoiding that horrid "God's will" or even the platitude "God doesn't give us more than we can handle." That is a comfort when you are facing something you are scared of but know you'll be ok (i.e. my colonoscopy) but not when you are off to disconnect a baby from life support.
Dh and I were to go to a movie tonight but I don't want to be that tied down. I want to be able to be available if I'm called upon. And I'm looking at the timing and worried that I'll miss the funeral (if they decide to have a public one) due to my prep and procedure next week.
Dd immediately offered to go out and help pack up all the baby's things so the family doesn't have to do that when they get home but we are waiting to see if that offer is accepted.
I need to get to work because I have a service I have to send to a church secretary by next Wednesday and Monday and Tuesday are already a lost cause. But it is hard to concentrate. I've also managed to lose my keys to the house. I had them last week to pick up the mail and don't know where they are now. I looked in the car but will have to look again. Dh wants to go out tonight to put out the recycle and I think I'll go with him.
