Hello, villagers ~
Not sure how it got to be afternoon already. :?

I'm just off the phone from calling DMom to wish her happy birthday. Obviously she's been getting several calls today because it took several tries to get through the busy signal. She is doing very well and the doctor told her she will be able to drive in 2 weeks. She sounded a tiny bit impatient about having to wait that long, until I reminded her that it's barely a month since she fell and broke her hip. Most people would still be in a nursing home at 4 weeks after surgery, not wanting to hop in the car to drive somewhere.

Then she admitted that a friend had offered to pick her up this afternoon to go out for coffee but she didn't feel up to it. She doesn't really want to be out walking around, she just doesn't like the idea that she can't drive yet if she has to go somewhere.

We will be getting together Sunday afternoon at DSis's house for birthday cake & ice cream.

Right now I'm trying to decide what I want for lunch. After I eat, I'll make a Sam's run to stock up on groceries and COFFEE! I'm out of decaf and almost out of regular, it's getting to be a critical situation. :o

Back from a few errands it was good with just one child toddler-n. got brunch to go and found chicken boots at a yard sale on the way home. Delivered donations  before I had too much time to think about them. We've had brunch now fed hens and colleted eggs.

Washer twins are done for now. Glad I folded and put laundry away. I need a plan for dinner.

Ashplundh cut the trees and branches out of our 1/4-mile long power line, down the easement today. Whew! This will mean less of a chance of a tree taking down our power line in the windy weather or heavy snows! I'm so glad they did it today, too! They're mighty busy. DH, Dgs and I watched them do a bit of it in the bucket, going up and down on their truck and Dgs said, "WHY does the truck BEEP like that?!" LOL! We told him it did that for safety while backing up. He understood then how it meant people would get out of the way. :)

No mail yet, but DH mailed 2 letters out to 2 new pals found in a Friendship Book. I wonder if there will be a lot of mail today since it's been so very light all week. :?:

DH and I put the new mattress pad cover on. It's quilted with fiberfill inside it, and it's so beautiful. It looks like a mattress top. We turned our Naturpedic mattress foam cover over, too. Our mattress is so hard that it caused my osteo and FM to act up. Now we sleep very well.

I dumped trash, am doing LOL still, 1 load's away, 1's washing, 1's waiting. Dgs has been picking up his Origami mess on the Bunny Room desk, rearranging his clothes in his tote bag, and seems really excited to go home. Besides red velvet cupcakes, cookies, chips packets, string cheeses, and 2 dozen eggs, I don't think we have much more to send home to Dgs's home. They're really going to have a big treat with all that food. DH accidentally picked up a 2-dozen eggs pack, when there is an empty nest here, so up to the dfamily of 9 they go and then DH will pick up an even dozen for us. OH! He's sending up some Belgium waffles to them, too, but he's keeping 1 back for himself to have. I'm not interested because syrup makes me nauseous. :o Anyway, it's nice to be able to bless them all. :D

I have been really taking it easy today. Ds only worked 1/2 day today and he and dd are hanging out here and it's very nice that they are getting along so well. The ddogs got a good walk this morning and I was up to 5K steps, but since then have read and napped. May not be in the stars today to get to 10K. Still feeling like I have a cold coming on, but it's more of an annoyance than feeling sick.

I need to s2s soon and get ready to go to temple. I'm going to go out to harvest tomatoes and squash first tho.

Vacuumed the rest of the apartment, did some kitchen chores and mopped the floor. Still need to dust.

Have started to move all the files onto my new computer. This will be a several day job but it occurs to me I need to get this done before I go away. The biggest issue will be reloading software. Some is already on but Quicken and Simply Accounting will need to be loaded. Quicken just have an install file for so need to figure out how to load onto a new computer. I don't like this version of Quicken but just got it a few months before the new computer so don't want to upgrade yet again.

Dh and I took the vacuum over to the shop. They claim the suction is okay and the motor is fine. They feel it is an airflow issue so sold me new filters. Hopefully that will be it. I'll find out next time I vacuum.

Wrote 2 letters, got a b-day gift bag/card ready, finished the 3 LOL, DH ran the DW, and I'm wearing down. I'm tired now.

DH is playing the XBOX 360 in the bedroom and Dgs is watching videos on his tablet in the Bunny Room. Dgs is packed up now, ready to go tomorrow morning, at 8 a.m., so we need to all be up by 7 a.m. to get "going".

I received 1 letter in the mail today with a bookmark, 3 list pad pages, and comics. The quote on her letter was very nice, as she collects quotes and puts them on letters and into small mailable quote books at Christmas for family, friends, and pen pals. This one was for summer.

"The summer morn is bright and fresh, the birds are darting by, as if they loved to breast the breeze that sweeps the cool clear sky."
~ William Cullen Bryant

I that! :D

Dr. Oz is on, the news is at 4 p.m., for afternoon, and they always do the "Question of the Day." Viewers post, email, etc... the answer and it's a community thing to try to guess the correct answer and to be broadcast on the news via FB, Twitter, or Internet.

I think I'll go write tomorrow's to do list now, read on a magazine, and write another letter. It's nice to have a relaxing lazy afternoon, after working today.

Just got a call about my complaint to the cell phone company that activated an account for me and then told me it wouldn't work with my phone. That complaint was weeks ago. I had a great phone number but no way to use the chip for my phone. Ended up putting the chip in my tablet and have been enjoying having data but missing having the phone.

Well my complaint didn't fall on deaf ears, they just had to wait for a solution. They've received a used phone back and will give it to me for free so I can use my account! So I'm getting a newer smart phone. For free. I simply can't believe it but it appears to be true and it might arrive in time for our trip.

Wow. I'll have to eat crow and update my whining FB post about this!

Back from Sam's; the store was very crowded. They have moved everything, too, but I found the coffee beans and filters. :)
Most groceries are put away.
Frozen lasagna is cooking.
DH is not home from work yet.
I will feed the cat when she finishes what's in her bowl from breakfast.
Tonight I need to do 1 load of laundry and finish prep for tomorrow morning's sewing group meeting.
Once those things are done, I can relax with the tv.

Oh, the doomsday prepper show last night turned out to be really boring. Hopefully the Project Runway episode I recorded will be more interesting.

* whew * I am exhausted!!!
I have been "tidy-ing" at dmil's house today... another 3 hours, this time on my own, and I got all the glasses/stemware boxed up. (105 glasses; 187 pieces of silverware... keep in mind, almost none of this matches, LOL.) Came home and added that to my typed list of "inventory" and took it to the antique lady so she can tell us if anything is worth anything -- and mostly just so we can be "fair" w/dbil as we make choices.
Got the oil changed in the SUV...
Went to the drug store...

It was 80 degrees in dmil's house. DBIL keeps thermostat set on 82 -- but when I turned it down (to 68!) it never got below 80!!! Then finally, I saw the flashing thing on the thermostat: "Replace Battery." So that's probably why it wouldn't work right.
Antique lady said we should not keep the thermostat above 78 anyway.

I've got to take a nap.

Files are ready to move onto my new computer but first I need to install software.

The old version of Quicken went fine (I'm assuming my install file for the new version will be moved over and I can install it later.)

The accounting software won't run on this computer (64 bit) and I'm stuck. Thankfully, the company is still in business but I'm upgrading from 2001 software and nothing on the website tells me if they are backward compatible that far. Holding my breath.

Edited to add:

The transfer continues to go very badly. The backup was not saved to our network drive but to my old computer. It took several hours to create the backup. It is now going to take several hours to move it to the network drive and I'm still not convinced the transfer software will let me browse to the drive to pick up the backup. Even if it does, it will take several hours more to do it, so my laptop (which I had hope to leave running overnight) will now be tied up tomorrow.

At this point, I can't do a thing - I can't pick up email, I can't update quicken or anything else until the backup is successfully installed on my new computer.
