Morning ya'll .... well sort of

Had a killer headache last night so am kind of groggy this morning. Going to be a slow moving day for me.

Wanted to work on my closet today, but if I don't feel like doing it, the closet will still be there tomorrow.

Ouch, ouch, ouch LM....I hope you're on the mend.

Nancy, we have many hawks and owls around here in our neighborhood. The people next door to me have a tiny dog and the hawks like to circle around their yard when Bailey is out. The other night the husband was sitting on their front door patio with his dog. He picked up Bailey to walk towards his garage when a Great Horned Owl came swooping down after both of them. Harvey did some sort of defensive move and the owl went crashing into the side of their house. Stunned the owl for a moment before he flew away. The owls like to sit on the back corner of my wall or in the trees around us. They also like to sit on the peak of my roof. This owl has made our neighborhood his territory for years...course he was probably here way before us.

Back to the couch...think it's gonna be my resting place for the day.

Also wanted to ask -- when you said "stylish girl jeans" -- what type jeans do you normally prefer?
Good survey question for all y'all, actually!
Ddil does not approve of me wearing men's Wranglers. However - I have large hips and thighs, plus a tummy pooch, and "stylish" jeans these days just accentuate my curves a bit too much!
I do have some denim trouser-style pants (Lee brand, I believe) that I wear occasionally -- but when you just want to be casual and comfortable, what's a girl to do?

HOT here ... Comfort will be in short supply.

Oh! (((((LadyM))))) I hope your knee heals soon and there's nothing seriously wrong with it, too. :!:

Nancy, I'm glad you saw the hawk! :!: He was so close to YOU AND THE HENS!

I was up and awake at 3:10 a.m., got up, wrote in my journal, had QT, wrote 1 letter, had breakfast, returning to bed at 6 a.m. - 10 a.m. I feel groggy, not rested, very tired, and like this is going to be one of "those" days.

It's going to be 83* here.

DH will run into Sears for U of W tee or sweatshirt, something. His Dfriend who passed away, requested everyone wear purple or U of W attire to his funeral. It's bothering DH because he just talked with his Dfriend last month, he's gone now, on the 21st, and DH seems it was sudden. :( But, in the same breath, he said his Dfriend got an extra year cancer-free from the first time he licked it.

Oh that note, I think I'll go CUOP for awhile.

Good afternoon everyone. I was up about 8 am so got all daily and weekly routines done before lunchtime. Dfam#1 is supposed to be here this afternoon and dh went over to W-M for a few extra things for supper. He called a few minutes ago to say he was waiting for the rain to stop so he could get to the car. We've had showers fairly hard off and on for about an hour. We're needing the rain; the grass was starting to get crunchy.

Oh, LadyM I hope your knee is better quickly and you don't have to go to ER.

Nancy, wow, so glad you were able to chase off the hawk. And RRose, hope the headache is gone for good. Good thing your neighbor was able to get away. Owl and hawk talong are very sharp. We have hawks and owls here and I always watched closely when I let our cocker spaniel out especially at night. When he was older he had cataracts and couldn't see as well and I was scared for him.

Uh-oh, here comes thunder and the light just flickered. I'm going to unplug computers, etc.

The swim was a success. As I suspected, there were about 6 kids but they were playing with balls in the shallow end and I had the deep end (6' deep) to myself. I would swim for and toss the ball back when the kids tossed it in my end by accident. It kept me engaged and time went by quickly.

Showered there and came back. Ds invited me up to the lodge but I still hadn't eaten breakfast so I held off and had cinnamon raisin bread french toast and berries for 'brunch.'

We sat up at the lodge for a while and then I dragged him back to the cabin to eat some veggies. Gathered up TGF and had her eat something too. She is very dizzy today so is on the couch and we are watching the Criminal Minds marathon.

Had our garage sale at the rec hall. We probably made about $30 so was ok. Got a text from DS-A (details in J&C) so gathered things up so I could be prepared to leave if we had to. Hate those kind of messages/calls. I am so nervous when that happens. At any rate dgs14's race has now been cancelled for tonight (good thing here I think). So dh won't have to hurry/scurry to get down there to be there for him. DS is and will be at the hospital for a while yet I'm sure.

Went to the car dealership to see about navigation system. You're right, MT. We have the wrong radio and the "upgrade" for it if we had it would be about $675. I'll use my G armin, thank you very much. There is a recall that our dneighbor told me about yesterday. Thought he was kidding. It's for the weld on the rear shocks of the 2015 200 and some Jeep Cherokee Crossovers. Asked at the dealership and they've had no notice yet.

when you said "stylish girl jeans" -- what type jeans do you normally prefer?
When the women jean style changed to low waist, I switched to wearing men jeans. Wranglers are easy to obtain (Walmart) and they are comfortable.

I do have a couple pair of embellished girl jeans that I wear when doing casual dress up. When I wear them I have to be very careful to not bend over or squat down. OR I need to wear a very long shirt that will cover up anything that is exposed. I h-a-t-e to bend over and show my crack. And I'm not interested in seeing others bottoms even though the majority of them don't seem to mind showing off their tattoos.

Wrote a letter, got out of my Muumuu, into lounge pants, a tee, and cardigan. Yes. :!: When the heat pump comes on, to cool it down to 74* inside, I get cold. :o I fixed my brows, put moisturizer on, fixed my hair, and put on red lipstick. I used to rarely wear lipstick, until several years ago, when a Dfriend emailed me a photo of herself all dressed up. Right away, DH said, "I LIKE HER LIPSTICK! IT LOOKS GOOD ON HER!" :!:  Of course, I went out to immediately buy red lipstick and now have several tubes of it and other colors, too.

I read a short story in "Guideposts," once. The author was talking about her Dmom. She said that while she was growing up, and even now, in older years, no matter what emergency there was, how chaotic things were, when things were going all wrong, her Dmom said if she put on her red lips, it made everything better. I never forgot that. I thought it was a cute story. No matter what the Dmom's health problems were or whatever she faced, as a challenge, her red lipstick helped her face it with confidence and a smile.

Dee, I'm glad you made $30 or thereabouts at your garage sale. I'll bop over to J & C to see what you posted. Already, know you're in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm in so much pain, especially the hips, and since I've got osteo there and cannot have Aleve, etc... I'm headed to get some Acetaminophen. My stretching on and off today has really helped! :!: :) I know getting old isn't fun, but....

I was up so early, I was SO TEMPTED to come here, to start today's opener. It was going to be "Saturday Successes," and mentally, in my mind, I was writing what I'd post. Like, "What will your successes be today? Will they be housework, a job, a family outing, a trip, laundry, or other goals you're trying to attain? Like getting that book read, which you've been putting off or calling a Dfriend or Drelative to check up on them?" But I didn't want to wake DH with my squeaky office door.

Also, I like the opener, too. "Suddenly Saturday," to me, means it came up on us so QUICKLY! :!:  HOW does that happen!?!? We start out with Monday and all-of-a-sudden, we're on Saturday. :o

Have a nice afternoon, Everyone. :D

Exactly, LadyM! Plus, I am not at all interested in the skinny jeans fashion. Much too form-fitting for my form.

I usually get jeans from T albots on sale. They have several "fits" and one is more high waisted and straighter through the waist hips and thighs. I'm not curvy - my waist and tummy are large and my tuchas and thighs smaller. Sigh. So hard to get clothes that fit. A lot of my shorts right now can be pulled right down over my hips; I have to have a 16 for the waist but shorts are large over the hips. Losing 5 pounds wasn't enough to drop a waist size.

I've had a quiet pretty restful day but haven't done most of a.m. routines. I slept until 8:30 and got dMacs to PT at 11, then ran errands to the cleaners and to p/u his meds at the vet. Then a nap and reading. Dh is out for the evening at a bowling fundraiser - this event happens every year and I've never attended.

I should spend some time straightening up and getting ready for the week. I'm visiting dsis on Wed when there's a care plan meeting with the nursing home, and on Friday we are going to resort/winery for our anniversary weekend. The kicker is that we have to come home next Sunday for an "unveiling" i.e. the unveiling of a gravestone for a dfriend. Afterward we will have lunch with the family, then drive back to the resort. We'll come home on Monday Sept 1.

-feed ddogs and give them Trifexis
-clear kitchen counters and breakfast bar
-clear kitchen table
-update to-dos for tomorrow (buy baby shower gift, attend shower, go to JCC for event) and for next week
-make the bed
