dd older has been helping me with letting clutter go - I probably wouldn't have been ready except for all my practice here over the years!
It still is very hard not to be sentimental about everything

dd older is getting overwhelmed by what she feels is her responsibility to get certain things done. I too am getting frustrated, as well, as I interpret it as she wants me not to do things. She said she interprets getting ready for the garage sales as I want her to be involved in everything I am doing. Giving space to her so she knows I am respecting her wishes

Blessed, WTG, on your decluttering! I, also, get so "attached" to "things"! It's so hard! Isn't it!

I have purged 20 magazines, made a file folder of papers to read, or mail to friends or family.

I need to tidy up my pen pal basket or restock it, to fill it up with cards, etc... stickers, envelopes, tablets, stationery, cute calendar pages and comics.

I need to tidy up my great room end tables and the end of the sofa area arm where my recliner is. I sometimes crochet there. If I put my cone of crochet in a small craft tote, it would look nicer. ♥

I also want to go into the main office closets, to get out more magazines to sort through and purge. They're mainly crochet magazines, but I keep all the "Trues" magazines, which I'm in. They're in pastel-colored magazine organizers, which stand up vertical.

When DH returns from the pharmacy and store, we'll declutter the eating bar after we've put away groceries and we'll sort/purge snail mail, too, and put it away, too.

I also took my medications and supplements list, alphabetized the list, changed doses on things I'm decreasing on, to keep everything up-to-date. I'll log them into Word, print up copies for Dr. and dental offices, my purse's day planner, and have a copy at home in the kitchen, in case of an emergency. You just never know when you might pass out, or something bad, so it you have a copy of meds in the house, for paramedics and family, it's half the battle, and it's a time-saver for them, which helps them figure out what you're taking, while they work on you. DH has a list, too, which I should probably have him re-write so I can make current copies for him, too!

Thank you, Blessed! Your idea about giving your DD space, sounds good. It sounds like she might be frustrated or overwhelmed by all she does on a day-to-day basis. Did she come right out and say no, to you about it? Or did she just give you the silent impression, via body language?

I purged 4 magazines today. 1 has a pattern in it, which is tempting to keep, but I think I'll just "let it go". I found several scrapbooking magazines and card-making magazines today. I'm planning on pulling out pages of good ideas, to file in a file folder, then purge the magazines. I just don't know "when".

I fixed my meds for the week. So that's good.

I never typed the alphabetized med/supplements list into Word yet today, but I got 1 potholder crocheted for a holiday gift, did 2 LOL, put away groceries, sorted, read, and purged mail. So that's good. I have Desk Day tomorrow, so can do the list then.

I looked at my pen pal basket, which is now in the small office, put some envelopes in it. I'll baby-step getting it stocked up, so it's an easy "go-to" chore of addressing envelopes, picking out pretty paper, decorating with stickers, adding articles, comics, etc.. to the envelopes. It makes pen palling a treasure to bless others with a letter full of goodies.

The dining room table's fixed up nice, but I had to move a large glass-blown vase full of silk sunflowers off the table, to put it on the tall bookcase. Dkitty cat was eating the silk sunflowers! I need to put something decorative in the vase's spot on the table now. Hummmm... I need to think on that for awhile. What will I put there? Perhaps a vase? WITHOUT FLOWERS IN IT!

dd older and I were reading each other wrong... she maturely came to me and said she was sorry she seems intense and told me she is wanting to hear how I see things and visa versa ... lovely conversation
I laugh because her organized spirit is such a different thinking than myself.. fascinating.

went into dd youngers room and got rid of 2 bags of old papers and binders and books from senior year
We also got rid of things in the basement crawl (mice yuck)

you know how you keep things because someone has given it to you or you know its an antique... I am trying to let go!

Decisions made 10/15 even if it is really hard. the apple watts ware my dmom had - 3 boxes full (of course organized) need to be gone through and pictures need to be taken so they can be sold. (I will keep some for my shelf in the kitchen and get rid of my blue decorating things.

Now out in sale items for garage sale: wii player and discs, american girl cloths are drying so they can be sold, dishes brought down (blue and white) as I no longer entertain d in laws bc of allergies to our cats., my family does not do dinners together anymore... they just go out to eat - weird but it works for dmom.

dh finally is getting rid of our beta max that still works.. Yes!!!!

selling late 1800's buggy we used for dd older's baptism (walked to church),sellers hoosier cabinet, some old non electric irons (fire or coal type), apple watts ware - old church wood bench in excellent condition (keeping fingers crossed antique dealers might be interested in them.)

I have been going through terrible guilt - d mom came over and she saw that I am selling her watts ware (which she has asked me to get rid of) and my hoosier cabinet and the antique church bench she had given me and she commented how that bench went with her where ever she moved... o my gosh guilt!!! She also bought the watts ware at very expensive prices and I check all the time to see it's value and it is almost at nothing.

dh is worse... he hates change of any sort - I had suggested putting the watts ware in the dining room and he got all down about the other decorating in the dining room. I take his disappointment and guilt much much harder. He doesn't do well with any change. oh the guilt!

to me these pieces aren't being honored or cared for properly and need to go to someone who will
I can bury them in the closets all I want but I don't think that is honoring anything.

I hope for my girls I don't make them keep things based on what value I see in them. I am trying to see that others give you things because they don't have space in their lives and that is why they give them to someone else.

I'm in a terrible "mess". I now have filing of a stack of pattern leaflets and print-outs to do in the main office, work some more on that office's closet shelves, and after I'm finished with all of that, there is the filing cabinet in there, and dusting.

The Bunny Room has a 25-magazine stack of crochet magazines on its desk, there are 26 scrapbooking magazines standing in 2 magazine organizers on the coffee table, to sort. I want to cut out and tear out patterns/idea to keep in a file, to use, then purge the magazines, put the magazine holders into the main closet shelves. Also, the card table's set up with Grannies on it, to edge, join, and add a border on, for a Christmas gift for an elderly Dfriend. AFTER all that's done, I'll dust in there, too.

And I need to dust mop in both rooms, too.

Tomorrow is my garage sale - we have decided that anything that doesn't sell (except antiques will be tossed or donated) right away

today is magazine recycle day... I have 10 magazines I had "planned" to look at and take out recipes etc... and realized that I still have so many recipes and more than 2 projects that I am working on ... so off they go (I spend too much time on what if ... maybe I could... maybe I have time for...when it comes to my magazines..let it go I am telling myself)

also got rid of another cross stitch I had since 1983 If i was going to do it I would have done.

Blessedw2, You do FANTASTIC with your magazines! I just can't seem to be as proactive as you are, and get rid of them.

I look through magazines, tear out pages, cut them out, and put them in a file folder. I have a crochet magazine stack of 25 to go through and 26 paper scrap booking, etc... ones to sort through. I'm so frustrated about the paper craft ones, because they're out of the way, on the coffee table, against a wall, in 2 vertical magazine organizers. So I'm thinking, since they DO have a "home", I can get a lot of good use out of them, and when Ddil moves nearer us in Jan., she and I can do crafting together. She can browse through the magazines with me, so we're both inspired. On second thought, I'm going to keep those magazines. The crochet magazines are a different story. I only have 2 hands, only so much time, so how can I possibly do ALL patterns in 25 magazines??? I shall sort through them, keep projects in a file, which I positively WILL crochet, and discard the rest of the magazine.

Oh, Blessed! Bless your heart! A garage sale! What an accomplishment! AND your after-sale ideas of donating or putting up a "FREE" sign are GR8, too! Today was your sale, from your post yesterday. How did it go?

It's great that you got rid of a cross-stitch since you've had it since 1983. I just don't know why we SHE's, hang onto some things we hang on to. It's beyond me. I do it, too.

Now, my "Bunny Room" is in a huge mess! I was looking for my "Happy Haunting" rubber stamp, in a huge tin, and glass jar, both. I finally found it, but didn't put away the stamps! They're on the desk, just waiting for me. I also have crochet in there, waiting for me to get it put together (squares joined), and edged. But the end project will be a wonderful Granny afghan for a 98.5 year old Dfriend AND another project is a Granny butterflies afghan for DGD-21-months, for Christmas. I need to dust and dust mop, both, the main office and bunny rooms. I've taken over with clutter, those 2 rooms, and I'm incorrigible. At least I'm relaxed today, close the door to The Bunny Room, b/c kitty cat can get in there on top of the squares set out on the card table. So I don't "see" the mess all day, b/c the door's closed.

I forgot: I had a stack of notebooks, papers with plot cards on my GR8 room end table, when I decided, how can I work on 7 stories at ONE time? I put away 6 stories, kept the paper and plot card out for ONE story. I tidied up the dining room table, taking pen pal stuff off it, putting it back into my small office. Also, I sorted and purged junk mail, today, when mail came, quickly read my 3 letters, then put them away, too. So the eating bar, where we sort mail, is nice and tidy again. I've also decluttered the bed. I made a dreadful mess of the blankets and sheets last night, woke this a.m., with sweaty sheets, blankets/sheets pulled way up and they hung onto the side of the bed onto the floor, TOO! I stripped the bed sheets, bleached them, dried them and DH made the bed on his own, without me. I'm glad, too, because my wrists were aching and I was wearing the braces on them, to help support them better. Now the bed's been made orderly again, without the "clutter-SHE-look"!
