Dee: dh pulled the tick from my leg on Saturday morning in NS. It was on the side of my calf and so visible I can't imagine I would have not seen it when I pulled my pants on the previous morning and am surprised if I missed it the previous night. So, in theory, I should be safe from Lyme Disease but my body's reaction has been typical as if I did contract it so am being treated for it while we wait for the testing to happen (that takes 2 - 3 weeks.)

I figure I had to have brought the tick from home (either in my shoe or my pants) because I was not in long grass, let alone woods, in NS but had been through long grass on both Monday and Tuesday (and wore the same pants on Monday and same shoes both days.)

Re: situation here - it isn't good. Interestingly, I can't hear the sirens from here (but I'm 6 miles away.) The bridge below me is blocked with traffic trying to get to Quebec. Two of the bridges are right downtown so will be closed but on top of that, they are telling people to leave the downtown core and a good portion of workers in Ottawa live in Quebec. As well, the lanes are still set up for morning rush hour (2 lanes in, one out) so any unusual amount of traffic backs up more quickly.

Smiling that I misunderstood Lilac's post. She says SHE has been having a malfunction about not posting and at first I thought she meant the site wasn't letting her. lol. We're glad you're posting, Lilac.

10 - 11am
** Swept middles of all rooms.
** Living room I pulled most of the furniture away from the walls and swept underneath them. While picking up a multitude of Lego pieces. The GRANDkids were a bit messy playing with Lego's last weekend and I'm still finding pieces everywhere.
** PUPA all rooms.
** Fitbit steps = 5969. Third water bottle is empty
** check the web news story on Canada parliament shooting. Praying for those brave ones who put their lives on the line to protect others.

Interior of "new" home is vastly different from our current one.
** Twice the # of bedrooms.
** Twice the # of bathrooms
** Twice the living space
** More than twice the overall size of house
** 0 garage space to 2 garage slots plus more covered vehicle storage in the shop.
** Going from 7 rooms to 15 rooms.
** Going from 1 HVAC zone to 3 zones.

We would have room for the FNG to meet in our home without moving furniture and setting up temporary sitting places.

There is a separate living area with its own entry that could be used for our Mothers or DD to live in. Hopefully it will never be necessary……but that is a real possibility. This separate area can be used for other purposes. Today I'm thinking it would be a great place to corral all the dag-gum LEGO'S!

If we are forced to take guardianship of LO little sister, there is a bedroom for her. There is no place to put her in our home.

Entertaining our extended family (40+) can be easily accommodated. There is plenty of room for everyone.

There is a room with a big wall of windows and a 3' or so ledge just screaming to be filled with plants and future garden starts. It is a gardener dream of a window ledge!


Next up - Prep lunch. Beans & rainbow salad is on the menu.

Un-US like, there are no helicopters. There is a no-fly zone over Parliament Hill (at all times) so we don't get many planes here but there is a small plane circling from time to time by us but that's all.

The traffic is insane. As far as I can see to the East and South (Parliament is to my east) solid and it is backing up to the west as well, but that's due to the bridge being blocked and people . The police rescue boat (on a trailer) just went by towards downtown.

The lock-down area downtown is expanding to include the mall downtown. Not sure what is happening with buses (they all run through the central core by the locked down mall.) Glad dd isn't coming today (she hopes to come tomorrow) because buses from her place to mine go through downtown.

I need to figure out a way to be productive right now instead of obsessed. Aside from the expanding lock down (city hall which is 5 blocks away is now included) there isn't any real news.

so glad to hear K in C and family are all okay thanks for the up date. Laundry in the dryer and washer one more load to do.

ToddlerN is here just while her mom has an a.m. class this week. She fighting the sniffles so that is the good news less expisure time for me...

I have been glued to the news and picked up the basement no longer a hot spot. I have decided on an easier no brainer knit project for the yellow prayer shawl and have it going now.

I have a plan for dinner biscuits and gravy, the gravy will be from scratch with turkey sausage.

Lunch is ready - waiting for DH to arrive.

The house we live in was bought when we thought it would be our retirement place. Small on purpose.

But it isn't the right place for us now. Our plans of having a *normal* retirement have been replaced with raising a Grandchild. Our housing needs are different.

Drawbacks to *new* home -The "new" home cost is 2/3 the anticipated amount we will receive from selling our current home. The initial cost is financially easy to do. The hard part (for me) is turning loose of this unbeatable low cost of living we currently have. We live in our home for $350 a month - that includes taxes, insurance and all utilities. We don't have the cost of living figures on the *new* home but I wouldn't be surprised to learn it will be double or triple that.

Another drawback - I can clean our home in less than an hour. I won't be able to do that in *new* home. The location of the washer/dryer in the new home is in the garage. Don't get me started on how *stupid* I think that location is. If we get the house, I am going to do some checking to see if washer/dryer can be moved to a different location, but I need to get okay with having to go to the garage to do washing if it can't be relocated.

Another drawback - Currently the school bus picks LO up and drops him off at our home every day. I haven't confirmed it, but I'm fairly certain he won't be able to ride a school bus at the *new* home. That means twice a day I will have to be at the school at an appointed time. That takes an hour each day out of my schedule.


Going to go look for the website online of the house.

So excited for LadyM -- although I can see the drawbacks as points to consider, also -- but it sounds like y'all really do need the extra space.
And ooohhh... (((Kathryn))) -- I saw just a bit about the situation up there. Scary to be as close as you are. Hope things calm down soon!

Benadryl at night makes getting up VERY difficult for me. But OTOH, I am sleeping sooo soooo good.
