Thank you for all your kind wishes for Pepper. We didn't see her regular vet but another younger one. I suppose she's good, but it seems we're treating the symptoms and not worried about the root cause of the itchiness. Still, the symptoms certainly need to be dealt with.
You were spot on, Twins. She must take an oral antibiotic and prednisone plus a topical antibiotic plus antibiotic ear drops b/c she has a bacterial ear infection too. She is running a fever. She also must wear . . .the cone. Poor Pepper! I got the antibiotic in her but haven't managed to get the prednisone in. I'll try again before I leave for work.
Both appointments this a.m. ran longer than expected. Pepper's ran from 8:45 - 10:15. I sent dd16 on to the dentist w/out me. I dropped Pepper at home and then raced to the dentist - to wait in the waiting room. Her 10:15 appointment had us walking out of the office at 11:25. I left the house at 8:40 for Pepper's appt. (the vet is about 4 blocks away) and got home 3 hours later. This did not make me merry.
I did prep for my class while at the dentist's office, so that is done. I've just had some lunch.
In the next 45 minutes before I leave again:
- do a little grading - a hw assignment that I won't record
- a little work on a.m. routine
- write down some things I need to do this week so I don't forget them
- maybe start a lol?
- try again to get the prednisone in Pepper
- change clothes and gather everything
I think we're getting a big drop in temps on Wednesday too, Harriet.
Merry Monday!

Re: Merry Monday!
TOTH checking in, even tho not quite done w s2s yet - still need to comb out hair to air dry, brush and floss, and get shoes on. Have done everything except for walking ddogs and finishing up s2s....
Bookie, I know what you mean - We had social engagements related to the bar mitvah on Friday night, Sat a.m. and then Sat night - dh also had a Sat afternoon event which I begged off of - I knew I wouldn't be fit to be around if I didn't have some down time.
This time, need to finish s2s, walk the ddogs, (very nice weather again so need to get some steps in) make the bed and reboot the laundry.
Will be back at TOTH again....need to keep going.
Helia, we do oral meds for dogs here by giving them in a bit of peanut butter on a plastic spoon...they consider it a treat and if they realize there's a pill there they certainly can't dislodge it from the sticky peanut butter. If the itchiness is allergy related it may die down when you get a hard freeze, altho many times it is food related apparently.

Re: Merry Monday!
I tried the peanut butter first, but it didn't work. Pepper really isn't into eating anything, though she did eat part of a dog cookie thrown in her crate. Maybe if I smeared the pb and prednisone on the dog cookie. . .
I'm off to change clothes now. I only got the grading done. I'll have to do the groc. run when I get home.
I can definitely relate, Bookie. 2.5 hours of meetings requiring me to talk a lot on Saturday was enough for me.

Re: Merry Monday!
Cuop here. Yesterday was so busy. I'd been sitting in church feeling really bad letting the small group go... once a group of people bond, if something is changed it sometimes falls apart. We were in a group like that once. One of the couples is the sweetest people and had never been in a group before and came because they knew us. One couple who actually took over leadership seemed to "share" too much and wanted a study that was very involved, etc. They had a pot-luck yesterday and only one other person attended.
Anyway, we'd taken just one vehicle to church and went shopping afterward, stopping at about 6 places in cold rain so we both came home tired, hungry. Naps later and ate something... how would we have managed all that if we'd had hosted the pot luck? I don't know. It just showed me again how very busy we are and that I probably did the right thing stepping back from it.
Was too tired yesterday to get my meal to Sandi and during phone call today she says they will be out and will stop here. I'm glad she's getting out a bit. But her head is tilted back a bit and she can't stand at a counter and chop / stir / and her husband is overwhelmed and her son doesn't cook for them...they still do need help. I'm glad to do it for them. We have enough turkey for a week left for us anyway.
LOL twirling.
Desk chores done except for one file I need to do before the year is up.
Dailies done. I scrubbed the microwave too.
Guess I'll start that project, it's something I'll need to work on a little bit every few days between now and the end of the year.
Poor Pepper! I hope the meds help and you manage to get her to take them.

Re: Merry Monday!
helia, if pills or capsules, try a product called "Pill Pockets".
Have ya'll seen that Calvin Klein has a new Plus Size line, at least of some items? Have you seen the model for them?
Don't bother, because the only hoopla over this is disbelief. Social media outlets are bashing CK over it. She has the same slim waist, no tummy, and thin arms as all CK's other models. So how can CK call her, or the line she models, "Plus Size"? Well, because even though she is proportional to their other models, she is bigger.
At almost 6 feet tall, her actual size in clothing is 10.
So, that must be what's called Plus Sized, right?
Out. Of. Touch.

Re: Merry Monday!
Helia: I wrap Dakota's pill in 1/2 slice of American Cheese. I give her the other 1/2 first and then the pill/cheese and she swallows them down. A lot easier than stuffing the pill down her throat. My daughter who raises Labs told me that one when I complained about the down the throat bit.
Dakota is doing well. She doesn't have to wear here dress any more and is just scratching once in awhile. The spray helps a lot. She is changing from her summer to winter coat so is shedding a lot. (Vacuum had another whole dog in it this am) Think that started the itch and then it just kept going. She seems to be moving better with the Glocosamin, too.
The truck just brought my new couch. It is a beautiful leather/SW fabric. Leather is a warm tan that goes perfectly with my walls. Fabric has sage green, beige, and several colors of brown/orange/red. It is fine with the rest of the furniture but now I need a new area rug as the one I have is too burgundy. I will pick one up next week and put the old one in the craft room where the day bed is. The day bed and old rug match well.

I'm s2s, the bed is stripped and remade and the sheets just finished in the washer.
No other progress except I've had junk food and Dr. Pepper and we all know that isn't progress!

Hope the heat lamp for hens is at the right hight now. Sigh the plyers I keep in the kitchen for stuff like this got legs. Found a cache of eggs
in the back of the loft. Moved that nest box out. Hens love the leaves I added for them.
Squash is done cooling then I will peel it and prep it for meals.
ToddlerN will be here shortly for the afternoon.

Re: Merry Monday!
Only progress this hour was finishing s2s, walking ddogs (only up to 3500 steps but better than none) and lunch challenge. I need to finish a.m. routine this time and some other routines and do some garage clean up/straighten up. We'll see how far I get - I need to move ds' car out of the garage to give myself some room to work.
Helia, looks like Pepper isn't as motivated by food as my dMacs - or at least by peanut butter. I think the key is finding their currency...I've also heard of good results from the pill pockets, american cheese or a little deli turkey.
Glad to see MT checking in, congrats on the new couch.
Woah, Harriet, a size 10 is not plus size!
Harmony, you are a dear to help Sandi and family with cooking, I know it's much appreciated.
Waving as I head back to work...

Re: Merry Monday!
it is sad that the companies say that a 10 is a plus size... how ridiculous ... My daughter's now acquaintance (she was friends with her when they went to school together) is a runway model and vogue etc. model paris/london/Japan/ - has been in all the fashion weeks milan paris new york etc.... and is so so skinny... still a lovely girl inside and out but oh how unhealthily skinny she is... the designers won't take them unless they are so so skinny. I am sure she is a negative 0 in size at 6 ft something. If that is what companies and designers feel is the average woman ... they are mistaken and what they expect of these sweet girls is unhealthy and unfair. An eating disorder caused an Italian models death a couple years ago and it was tragic but the designers are the ones who need to change their expectations for models and women in general.
well. I am spinning my wheels this morning.. men are working in the kitchen and I am unfocused... so back to reality and my timer.
